Hello all:
Long browser of the forums, but recently joined and was hopping for a solid recommendation from experienced vapors.
I love the bold taste/vapor that tank delivers, but when in public, I use 808 cigs and prefer the low profile of the cartomizers. Unfortunately all 808 tanks I'm able to find are transparent, and well, that gets odd attention sometimes.

The liquids I use are mostly PG (halo, vaporetti and MFS). Is there a completely opaque 808 tank out there that offers good performance (ideally with a tiny transparent slot to gauge the liquid level)?

Sorry if the question sounds vain.. but
Thanks in advance!! :)

Hi Skymykra, Here is an opaque bottom coil tank for the 808 GotVapes PHOENiX™ Bttom Coil XL 1.5ml Carto 2.4-2.6ohm -808 [gv-PHOENIX-XL-BC-808-2.4] - $11.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more It is clear enough to see what you liquid level is.

Or if you prefer a more tank type unit then these are all opaque, and are the correct threading for your 808 > E-Liquid Tanks - E-Cig Refillables | Vapor4Life

Then you could always get yourself an 808 to ego thread adaptor > KR808D to eGo Adapter and add yourself an eVod clearomizer >EVOD Bottom Coil Changable Clearomizer/Tank Steel (this is what I saw in my mind when I envisioned your description) the issue here would be the eVod would be a little thicker than the battery, but it still should have a good finished look once assembled. This would provide you with your covered tank and windows while also being reliable and easy to service due to the replaceable coil heads. Hope that helps. Happy Vaping.

I use these on my 808 battery and no one looks at me twice :) You can use them with or without the drip tip (without looking more like a cig)

Since you already shop at Halo, they make a 808 mini-tank that comes in "Translucent Smoke". Looks like it is pretty deep grey looking but transparent enough to see your liquid level. I plan on ordering one this week actually for just that reason, if you've already tried it though, let me know how opaque it actually is.

Thanks GookingWithGuns (awesome handle BTW heh).
I LUV halo mini-tanks, they're my favorite actually (tried others including the ones that Myrani suggested in post above). But ideally I wanted one that's truly opaque. But your recommendation is actually the one I'm using: smoke tank with dark liquid, unfortunately it's also "shoot what's the goo inside" conversation starter, and I'm not a chemistry major, so there's only so much I can elaborate about viscosity properties of PG :)

I saw somewhere online, possibly another thread here, that you can powder coat them. Well at least you can powder coat your drip tips, I think you might be able to do a tank too. Basically it is a way of painting it, and you can make it opaque yourself.

CookingWithGuns:
Here's a quick photo of the halo tanks (red and smoke). They are pretty transparent, I put them over the text so you could see.
The red is actually pink (and with yellow tint liquids turns peach) - right up my alley. The smoke, depending on your liquid can look pretty dark to almost transparent. Unfortunately neither is dark enough to make me happy.

the performance tho is out of this world. They last a LONG time, clean really well. Love everything about them and the tip also fits cartomizers perfectly.

OOOHH, I'm going to order the red, I actually like the way that looks.

Myrany: great suggestion, and I thought about it too :) Thanks!!

I didn't think about it and am kicking myself for it.

hehe, if you like the red, then *definitely* get the purple. i'm waiting till july 4th sale to stock up. hopefully hardware will be on sale too.

If I get my... signing bonus we'll call it, I plan on grabbing some of their tanks, maybe one of each colour. And then finally deciding on what mid-sized to pick up.

this is their triton 1300mAh with purple tank, and that's what i use at home. Tank lasts me 2 days, recharge every 2-3 days (charges in about 2 hours). I used to smoke 1-1.5 packs a day for 20 years, but with this setup i don't feel deprived at all. no real ciggies ever since i got this.

Looks more blue. I prefer real dark purple if I'm going to have something purple. I'm a Red/Black kinda guy for the most part. Though my eventual goal is two customized APVs. One that will look like a Sonic Screwdriver, and another that somehow looks "Italian".

none of the shades are deep unfortunately. with chrome plating all the tanks do take on a tad of a pearl sheen to it. Looks absolutely stellar on black battery, and sleek/shiny on titanium battery. I don't know if this would quality as an "APV" (I've seen mods that run into hundreds with months worth of waiting lists -- have you seen Caravelas?? heh), but it works perfect for me.

Ehhhhh, just wish they'd make an opaque tank!! Actually eying down one of the cartomizers to see if I peel off a wrap off it :)

I'm lucky, between my mother, her husband, and their friends, I can get just about anything done custom with the exception of the battery. So I'm thinking of having her (as a Christmas present maybe) do me up the tanks and atomizer the way I want, and design a sleeve to cover the battery. The downside though is I don't know if I'd want to use the tanks if they look awesome.
