I still don't understand everything, but I'm getting there. I got KR808, and I like it so far. I ordered a bunch of new flavors of juice, so looking forward to that. Now I want to get a passthrough. Does it hook up to my KR808? If so, can you make some suggestions where I should get one. I got the KR808 at MY vape Store, but they were out of passthrough.

Thanks in advance for any help!

There are also adapters to plug it into an AC wall socket. I just ordered one from cignot.com earlier tonight, along with a Car DC to USB adapter for my car cigarette lighter. Each was $5, plus $5 shipping, since my order was under $50.

Also, you can find USB extension cables at most computer stores. I looked for one at my Wal-Mart store the other night and couldn't find it.

I received three 510 passthrus today in the mail and love them! I posted all about it in the What I Would Do Differently thread.

Just to clarify, the passthrough would not hook up to your KR808, but would rather be an additional KR808, only one that you can only use by plugging it into your usb on your computer, a wall socket adapter, or (my personal fave) a car charger. Instead of charging a battery, the passthrough runs off a power source so you always get a fully charged puff. Plus, you can put a different cartomizer on your passthrough and your automatic and alternate flavors:)

The passthrus I bought from Volcano are used completely independent from the Volcano starter kit. None of the starter kit parts are used to vape with the passthru. The passthru consists of one piece: the USB connector attached to the cable attached to the battery, and then it's screwed into either a separate atomizer/cartridge or cartomizer. You just vape and never have to recharge any battery, because it gets power from your computer's power supply. I think you would have to be sure your carts and/or cartos are compatible with whatever brand passthru you choose to buy. If they aren't compatible, you would have to buy more carts and/or cartos, whichever you use.

I think it would make the most sense to get a KR808 passthrough since that is the style cartomizers or atomizer you have now. If you got say...a Volcano passthrough you would have to get carts or attys that fit it (I don't know if KR808 and Volcano are interchangeable, I'm still a newb).

I think you're picturing a passthrough as an attachment to the PV you already have, it is a PV all it's own, just one that you have to keep plugged in, you can't just charge it and run. I hope that makes sense.

The V4L passthrough is the one I've been using for months. I just plug it into my computer and use V4L cartomizers. I can usually get a couple weeks out of one cartomizer. I like the coolcarts and "top them off" several times a day. Their car charger works well with them and also a Kensington ultra portable battery pack. Mostly I use it for several hours a day plugged into my computer.

I'm still searching for a USB wall plug power source for them though. V4L said they weren't aware of any that would work with their passthrough. I don't understand! If anyone knows of a USB wall plug that has as much power as a computer USB or the V4L car cigarette lighter USB adapter power thing, please let me know.

The V4L sale is only for orders of $60 or more - 30% off with code (I think) SuperSale30

Just be careful using PTs on car USB and they generally need too much power for PC's USB. I think PC USB is only specced to have 500mA of power available (1/2 amp) but most PTs need 1 or 2 amps. Some people have actually broken PC or car USB with a PT. it would probably be better to get a 2amp AC to USB adapter for at home and a PT-capable lighter socket to USB adapter for the car.

And if you want cheaper PT than V4L's I think Vaporleaf.com or LiteCigUSA.net have cheaper ones with straight wire instead of coiled.

I have two kr8 passthroughs, one from V2 and one from V4L. I used the V2 on both my home laptop and my work desktop (via USB plugs on the monitor) and it worked great. Good enough that I wanted to stop carrying it back and forth to work, so now the V2 lives at work and the V4L lives at home.

Two caveats, though:

  1. The V4L's button is a little annoying, at least on my passthrough. If I don't push it just right, it doesn't engage. Also the plastic is a little hard and can hurt my finger or thumb after awhile. The V2's button, on the other hand, is pretty loose and sloppy. Easy to press, but also easy to accidentally fire when you didn't mean to.
  2. Both passthroughs have holes in the battery connector. I don't think they go through into the body of the PT, but they can definitely fill with liquid and prevent the unit from working. When this happens, I grab a corner of a paper towel or napkin, roll it up, and poke it in the hole to absorb errant juice.

Both PTs are working after near-constant chain vaping for the past 18 days, so my PCs must be able to power them well enough. The V2 I have is their "notebook" model which is supposedly 4.2V and has a shorter cable. V4L only has one option (well, two if you consider manual vs. automatic, but I wouldn't consider the automatic) and it looks like V2's "Power Cig" that they claim does 5v and has a longer cable. I use the V2 at work on the desktop and the V4L at home on the laptop and both vape pretty much exactly the same.

Edit: I remembered a third caveat. The PTs really warm up cartos. Even V4L's CoolCarts got hot to the touch and burned my lips. So now I vape with delrin drip tips on the ends of the cartos so I don't hurt myself.

Hi binkyr, I ordered my kr808d1 passthrough from v2cigs.com and love it. The vendor calls it a powercig. It is a stand alone unit, meaning that you don't connect it to your batteries. You simply power it by plugging into a usb port on your pc, or in your car by using the car lighter adaptor. The power cig is a 5v PV, really powerful compared to the 3.7v batteries! You use the same kr808d1 carts on the powercig, and can top off your carts as needed with the juice you ordered. Keep in mind though, that passthroughs do use up carts and liquid much more quickly than e-cig batteries, but are so much more powerful that its worth it. Good luck!

VaporKings has an AC to USB power source that is rated 5V 2a and is about ten bucks. I ordered one yesterday.

If you buy a PT, you are better off getting the one with the inline battery box. It's small and will protect your USB ports from being in an overcurrent condition. If you fry a USB port, it's new motherboard time. A 510 atty pulls about 1.3 amps from its source. The USB ports are rated for 500ma. Some shut down with overcurrent and others fry.

Another plus with the battery box PT is that you can use it away from the computer while you watch TV or do something else while your other batteries are charging. It's a good backup.

I love the PT I ordered from CigEasy! Plugs into my PC and saves my battery use for when I'm out of the house. Mine has the connection for the KR808D-1 cartomizers. I also ordered adapter connections to convert that PT to use Joye 510 parts. There are a large variety of adapters to convert to almost any parts. I also have an adapter to convert my Joye eGo batteries to hold KR808D-1 cartomizers.

Wether it is car adapter, wall wart, or a computer port you still want it to handle at least at 2 amps. Personally I would not use one on a computer. Computers are expensive and a pv especially an automatic can easily short out and blow the mother board or a usb port. You can get a wall wart, a self powered usb computer connector or a usb car adapter at Walmart or just about any place that sells electronics. Make sure it is two amps. If you use a usb computer connector don't plug it into the computer.

post 2 or 3 says he ordered what you are looking for thru cignot for $5.

I had to return the AC adapter to Cignot, because it didn't work with my passthrough. I guess that adapter only works with a certain passthrough. I ended up ordering the 2-amp adapters at Madvapes, since 2-amp adapters are hard to find and Madvapes usually has them available for low prices.

The iq dual usb ac power supply from walmart online, just under $10, works well, full 2a, been using them for months.
I like the pt without battery, as it delivers a full 5v, a cheap way to try higher power vaping. Don't go lower than 2.5 ohms on atty/carto, however, as that would exceed 2a, as well as burning most juice (i tend to use 3 or 3.4 ohms on pt). As previously noted, standalone ps, not pc or car usb port, its the smart way to go, so if something shorts you only risk a $10 ps/cig lighter adapter.
