Nr-r-nr wires

Hi you wonderful people, I wonder if you know where I can get said wire from? Have had a nose on fasttech but not come across it there as yet... looking to rebuild my minifit pods... so looking for 1.8 ohm.. any help appreciated.

Fasttech has a number of choices from bare nr-r-nr wire to premade coils. Very inexpensive but a week or two shipping time.

The way to do it used to be to build a capacitor arc welder out of a disposable camera flash and weld em yourself. Hopefully they just sell em nowadays

Seriously? You can weld with a camera flash? I've never heard of that before. What exactly is the advantage of that kind of wire.

It’s used mostly for rebuilding stuff that wasn’t meant to be rebuilt. The wire allows a very precise distance of resistance wire and removes the need for heat resistant gaskets. To be accurate they ripped the board out of the camera and made use of the capacitor inside to store enough electricity to arc weld the two wires together. There were sparks and a really loud pop as the capacitor was discharged and the wires welded

There's all kinds of build plans for spot welders all over the net or you can buy a cheap one for 10€-15€.

Some older GG RTAs used nr-r-nr wire as well.
