I was doing a little research yesterday to gather stats in order to convince a couple of family members to stop smoking. They're Negative Nancies at the best of times.

There are a couple of recent NZ studies that have been funded by Ruyan, but to add credibility, they are sponsored by NZ Health and carried out by NZ universities.

NZ Health Study - 2008 (PDF).

NZ Health Study - 2009 (PDF) - Released on NZ Health site 9/4/10.

The tag line for 2009 study is: The electronic cigarette is effective in raising plasma nicotine levels, and in reducing cravings, and is more pleasant to use than the medicinal nicotine inhaler...

Of interest was the finding that ecigs increased serum nicotine LESS than inhalers (1/3 more) and cigarettes (10 times more than ecig). This really surprised me, I expected it to be much more. I don't feel so bad about chain vaping now :)

I thought I'd post these in case you've got some friends/family who believe numbers more than testimonials...
