Hey there. My mini is in the Rob's spa getting the new connection plus an RM3! To pass the time, I picked up an Odin off the classies to keep me occupied and see if I like it enough to get it BF.

Ive be been trying all sorts of builds. I'm content with single coils on my RM2 and Igo. I'm all about flavor and vapor takes a second seat to vapor. I can't seem to dial in the flavor consistantly with this atty. I read the entire Odin? Thread, looked at builds, etc.

here's what I tried: AFC open, closed, midway. KoGen or Cello. Coil set as far out as possible. Perfectly centered to air hole: 2.5 jig 7/8 (1.5). 2.5 jig 6, 1.3. Micro coil: 16 gauge (1.6). Horizontal. Once in a while, decent flavor.

Best yet but still not consistant: 16 gauge, micro. (1.3). Moved coil up..

is is it just a matter that I need to go down in ohms? I've read that this is a cooler atty. Perhaps I'm stuck in what I prefer on my other attys with this particular juice which is 1.3 and a larger diameter coil (2.5)??

Im also clear that this is user error.

Any thoughts?

This is my typical build. 2mm dia. dual coils. 26g kanthal. .45ohms. Koh Gen Do cotton wicks.

I'm with sloth on this..... I can't get the flavor out of odin that I always get out of my nuppin. Same kinda build, same juice, way different taste and not for the better. Maybe because the odin is a bigger atty? Of coarse unflavored works great on odin. Inspired me to order a derringer and rogue. Haven't got derringer and rogue yet but looking forward to them.

Thanks folks. I'm coming to the conclusion that it must be the size of this beauty that is affecting the taste IMHO AND I do have a delicate pallet. Built 4 more coils, ranging down to around 1 (different diameters, down to 1.5), horizontal, parallel, slanted, directly in front of air hole, above and below air hole, etc etc and the flavor is just okay. Great vapor. I can see the lure of this atty for unflavored folks.

Gonna put it away for awhile, wait for my RM3 and new and improved Mini, and try it again or put it on the classies later.

Thanks all. I so appreciate Reovile

The RM3 is gonna outperform the Odin for flavour - the smaller chamber is your best friend for that. It is, however, a tighter (stock) draw, so vapor production will lag compared to any of the 22mm atties with afc wide open.

If you like single coils in the 1.2 - 1.6 ohm range, it's prolly going to be more to your liking.

On the Odin, I'd get a dual setup going, netting around .4 - .5 ohms to see what it can do in its sweet spot (6-7 wraps of 28g using the 2nd smallest gizmo rod for each coil will get you there). For flavour nuances, however, I'd go with a Nuppin', Derringer, Freakshow Mini, or Mephisto over the Odin. I use the Odin as a wide open throaty midday vape with a strong juice - subtlety is not it's strong suit.

It's funny how different people can experience the same atty in so many different ways. All I use are Odins, I have 5 of them now. My dual coils, usually 5 wraps of 28g for .5 ohms give or take .01 or.02 ohms, are made on a 7/64 drill bit so they are a bit wider than most use and I use 3mm RxW. With the airflow wide open, and straight lung inhales, I get tons of thick rich vapor that produces flavor that is still knocking my socks off. I used to use the smallest gizmo rod for microcoils and the 2mm RxW and had great results with that too. I switched only because I was burning through the 2mm RxW.

You're going to enjoy the RM3 if flavor is your priority. It is for me too and mine has been my primary atty now for several months. Here's how I set mine up. I drilled out the air holes to 1/16 right off the bat as the stock holes were too tight a draw for me. I use dual 28g 8 wraps around a 1/16 bit with KGD. I'm just gonna say, this little beast outshines both a Magma and Derringer (clone) for flavor - at least for my taste and my ADV DIY juice. Still playing around with builds on those, but the RM3 holds its place on top of my list. I hope it serves you just as well!

Yeah, the Odin gives me really good flavor and warm dense vapor at .41 ohms with 26 gage dual coil kanthal builds, 7 wraps with a 2.5 mm inner diameter. It's a lung hitting atty though if you're a MTL vaper, you're not going to like this atty, IMO.

Personal opinion. I have yet to find a dual coil designed atomizer, whether set-up with single or dual, that gives as flavorful a vape as most single coil designed atomizers. The closest is the derringer for me in single coil mode. I have a derringer, magma, marquis, rm2, igo-s, currently in rotation. Some older ones laying around. Much more flavor from the rm2 and igo......

I think you're really suggesting "any larger chamber atty". The RM3, for example, at least rivals the RM2 for flavour and it runs dual coils natively (when paired with the 2-hole cap) - both are small chambered.

I certainly agree with the smaller chamber assertion. I also wonder if some e-liquid flavors/mixtures have something to do with it as well. I'm all about flavor. Not necessarily a blast of one single flavor but I relish the "layers" of well made juice.

It is important to remember when building a coil that one needs to build said coil for the juice. Of the 5 or so juices that I vape, they all have different builds.

Full disclosure, mah Odin will be in the classies soon...not that I couldn't attain great flavor out of it, only that there are more efficient atties that I use now.

I love my Odins. I get a nice combination of flavor and thick vapor from them. I'm strictly a dual coil guy; usually around .4 to .45 ohms. But, the atty in Rob's line up that doesn't get talked about nearly enough, IMO, is the RM4. It's a great little flavor atty, can be built in either single or dual coil mode, and set up for either mouth to lung, or straight lung inhales.
