Just to save me some time here from reading through billions of posts lol.

I have forgotten what types of wire I need for both nr ( i have used silver in the past but forgot gauge ans size) and res wire I need gage and size.

Also where to get wick. I have used the Nextel in the past but am open to suggestion.

Only asking since cov is out of stock ATM.

Links would be appreciated :). Thanks.

CUT & PAST from a post I placed in another thread....

you will need Kanthal A1 or Nichrome I prefer Kanthal A1 myself... For 1.0 to 1.5ohm coils 32 gage is great but for larger coils 2.5ohm or bigger 36 gage is the way to go... I also prefer silver wire as NR wire and 30 gage dead soft pure silver is my wire of choice.... as per wick you have many options... I love my XC116 although it can only be purchased in the USA and cannot be exported but CE2 wick works well also... I hope that helps people new to the world of rebuilable atomizers... you will also need a digital multi-meter and COV or Ebay is a great source for these supplies...

Just a side note but I would hold off on buying a lot of the XC116 wick untill people have a chance to try it in the Odysseus.

I don't have great calipers to measure it but it looks thicker then 2mm which is what I believe the Odysseus is using. On the iAtty it was easy to modify but it may be slightly more difficult in the Odysseus ceramic.

This is just my .02 but thought it should be said for people who don't have the tools for modification.

Also it may just be me but if you are going to use silver NR wire and crimp beads it might not be a bad idea to pick up some half hard wire also I find that the dead soft breaks right at the crimp point for me every time. Because of this I mostly use Nickel wire in my iAtty.

I agree if your going to use Crimp Beads use Half Hard Silver wire for the reason Fright88 stated.... I myself found that crimp beads were more trouble than they were worth... and thank you Fright for also clarifying that XC-116 may not fit or be able to be modified to fit in ODY.... if you don't like to tinker or change original equipment than XC-116 is not for you....

The XC116 is roughly 2.85mm OD without collapsing the hollow core.

Same here, I will wait until I can get a couple extra ceramics before I try it.

To me it looks like there may be enough material to widen the channels in the new ceramic but I think I will wait to try till I can pick up a couple extras since I busted up 2 of them with the iAtty lol. But thank you that is great info to have.

Here is the xc-116, too thick for the Odysseus

Where there's a will, there's a way. I'm sure you'll figure something out ;-)
I wonder if you could slit the tubing and roll it a little tighter to fit into the slots on Odysseus, either leaving the part that the coil is around intact or similarly treating that section, too. Maybe that would work? I haven't any experience with the stuff, myself, so have no idea if it's feasible or not, but that was the first thought that popped into my head

Ouch... I have about 7 feet waiting, too.

So, what exactly would happen if I try jamming it down into the ODY, would it not wick properly?

I am thinking if you just cram it in there when you screw down the threaded ring over it it will catch and tear up the wick. However I still believe if you are carefull you will probably be able to dremel out the new ceramic.

I'll certainly give it a shot with nextel just to see what happens. As far as using the dremel, uh, I'm not that good with tools... I wonder what are the chances of Imeo making a small run of ceramic cups with wider slots. Hmmm...

One thing you can try/practice before your Ody arrives...

Get your wick nice and toasty all around to the point where it gets a little firmer and the smaller strands stick together better. Scrunch it up as if you're playing an accordion, to loosen the weave a bit and if you're patient and careful you can unweave the braid. Once you have the larger strands you can make whatever thickness wick you prefer. And it vapes very very well:)

Thanks for the advice. I just want to make sure that I understand what you said.... I have about one foot of it torched and prepped. What do you mean by getting it nice and toasty where it gets a little firmer? How exactly do I accomplish that? Or have I already by torching it...

Thanks.

you have by torching it, now all you have to do is accordion the wick by pushing the ends together and you'll start to see it un-weave.

Perfect, thank J! So, what do I do with it after I un-weave it and thin it out? Do I need to try to somehow re-braid it or twist it together or just use a desired amount of loose strands?
