Greetings ECF! New vaper here, I just bought my new set up (see picture below) and was very eager to start vaping! The PV is a brandless 510 eGo with a no-name clearo. I have been an analog smoker for around 5 years, for the last 3 years or so I've smoked anywhere from half a pack to a pack and a half of smokes (marlboro blend 27's). Continuing on with my story, I bought my vape, filled it on up with MBV guava flavor 80%pg 20%vg, started vaping and had immediate problems. I had posted a thread on the e-cig subreddit, and received amazing help from one of the wonderful users of the subreddit. I must admit, I got pretty frustrated with my vape set up because I was expecting instant satisfaction. After receiving help troubleshooting my problem, I learned that the problems I was having with my clearo was more than likely fixable, he then pointed me to ECF. I'm still not sure if the clearo I have is going to keep working, but I am definitely hoping so, otherwise I'm going to have to wait another two weeks for the money to order new goodies. I also made my first ejuice order today from MBV of 'Thug juice', but that is enough rambling from me! I look forward to learning from the wonderful people of ECF, and I am stoked to begin my PV journey.

Many MBV juices need to "steep" for a while to taste right. Pretty sure I've read that thug juice is one of them so don't be freaked out if the taste is a bit strange. I know that I've been waiting for a couple of mine to mature (lose this loud almost perfumy flavor and develop the more expected flavors) for almost 2 weeks.

Yeah, that's what I've heard most people say on /r/electronic_cigarette. I'm probably going to end up filling my clearo before I leave it to steep just to see if I actually enjoy the unsteeped flavor (I probably won't lol). I definitely need to look into purchasing more clearo's, I will probably get some Kanger Evod's or something. I also heard talk about the ECF treasure chest, I might check that out because I'm on a very tight budget at the moment, and I don't know if i can make this defective clearo last until my next payday.

Seems like it is hit or miss (and varies from person to person) about the steeping thing. I had 2 that were really scary bad the day they came. One is almost right after 11 days and the other is getting closer but still no cookie, or Kahlua in this case. On the other hand I had some cinnamon roll that came and was perfect day one. I am also lucky that the menthol I got as my starter was good to go first day or I'm not sure what would have happened. On the other hand every thing I have ordered for my son has been fine from first day except some green apple and it mellowed in a couple of days. I hear you on the budget. I put all of this off forever because of the upfront cost and I've blown the whole months smoking budget (so I HAVE to stay quit which isn't a bad thing).

yeah, my buddy that got the MBV guava flavor didn't steep it and it is pretty good to go unsteeped. I am pretty excited to get my very first vapemail. I unfortunately got a ticket for "running a stop sign" so that ate up most of my paycheck, otherwise I would've been able to get the gear I need, but after my next paycheck I should be ready to roll, I'm also starting to discover that there are actually ecig shops in my area, I am going to go check those bad boys out sometime this week, hopefully they are legit!

Ha! I go watch Game of Thrones and you're already here making friends (Reddit guy...Dontmist...lol) You only need one or two EVOD's since they have replaceable heads, so you don't need to buy a whole new unit just a screw on part like in the video I sent you to fix your clearo. The one we fixed should last you a couple of weeks, but here's some cheap evods with free shipping Elite Vaporworks Kanger eVod

save up and get yourself a protank or an iclear30

you won't need any other clearo I promise :)
That sounds like a good idea, I'm still testing the waters with vaping, I haven't really gotten a chance to experience it and decide if I like it, but once I'm feeling more comfortable with vaping I'm definitely going to upgrade!

In all honesty I would have two clearos at the minimum and two batteries. If you get something like the evod with a changeable head, then at least get one or two more heads, clearos can die at any time, and without some kind of backup you would be SOL. Always a good idea to have a backup battery, that one you have something to use when charging the other.

The Evod is made by Kanger, they have several nice clearos with changeable heads. The Vision Spinner/Joyetech Twist are nice batteries, they have a bottom dial that allows you to adjust the voltage, allowing to dial in your sweet spot for whatever juice and delivery system you are using. Use caution when buying no name items, they are hit and miss.

At the top of the page in the light blue bar is a link labled Forum Suppliers, while you are waiting for the money you might want to look at some of them to get an idea of prices and what you can afford. And by all means check out the local B&Ms, just make sure you compare prices, and good luck.

That looks very similar to my first device, which turned out to be a "knock off".Is the light on your battery only blue? If so it is not an original Joyetech device. The one I had was terrible, I eventually bought a new one from an official Joyetech Distributor, and it worked great.

It could also be the juice, I bought a pinapple-flavored juice and it didn't produce a lot of vapour at all! I switched to the liqua Cherry juice and that was much better. Try a different juice in the same device, and see if it makes a difference.

I suspect a lot of it has to do with how recently the liquid was mixed. Meaning such as some are made more in advance and have time to steep in storage before being shipped out, others--especially from more "boutique" shops--are made to order. I just ordered from a place I've heard good things many times here on ECF and they allow you to customize the PG/VG ratio, order extra flavoring, such things. So I expect to put those away a while and not even attempt to try them for at least a week or so. Other places I order from, I give 'em and good shake and we're good to go. :)

That's one thing I was advised to do early on around here: shake. I do it before every fill, just to be on the safe side (dunno if that's excessive but I didn't do it enough early on and botched it with a really nice flavor, the first third was really, really, REALLY strong then the rest was tepid to tasteless).

I hear you on the budget. I put all of this off forever because of the upfront cost and I've blown the whole months smoking budget (so I HAVE to stay quit which isn't a bad thing).

Heh, well, look at it this way. Healthcare costs a lot more. And smokers get sick more...
