    Somewhere between here and there
The property tax for our house is done thru the mortgage company but we get a yearly bill on cars, boats, rv's and such from the county collector. About 85% of it goes to the school district. I shouldn't complain. We have really good schools. The high schools just bought new MacBook Air laptops for all the students and the old ones are being passed down to the middle and elementary schools.

    Hi hello and good morning.

Dang hitt, I always figured states that had sales taxes hit ya up at the time of purchase.
This personal property tax bill you speak of, is that for purchases made during the year or is it somethin that is assessed each year.

I mean, are you taxed on boats and cars and such every year or just once for the initial purchase?

Hovering at freezing, mebbe ice, mebbe not. Still cranky and no cookies left.

Morning Fran, Gracie and Hitt. Cold here and supposed to get some snow this coming Sat/Sun but does not look too bad.

Don't feel bad Hitt, I just paid Property tax (Home and rental) and for Home insurance for the year. We do not have taxes annually on personal property (Consumer items) here we just pay the tax when we buy the item, I'm surprised Kansas/Missouri does.

    Good morning, y'all. Stay warm.

We pay annual tag/license fees on cars too. The amount is based on the value of the car, so it decreases slightly every year. Along with property taxes and a state income tax, and an 8% sales tax....luckily it's still relatively cheap to live here, even after all that.
