I've had Durian. Fabulous.......That is the only word that comes to mind. For those wanting to try it, You can usually get it from your local Asian Market. It stinks to high heaven, but the taste is to die for!!!!

Really? I haven't had the opportunity to try it yet. I've smelled it passing by, but the people I was staying with at the time absolutely forbid me to buy one due to the stench.

I tried the Durian.
To me, it tasted like an out house smells.
I promptly went to the out house after eating it.

I forgot all about frog legs! I loved those as a kid and would eat them again in a hot second!!!

I can't remember exactly what they taste like. I just remember not leaving the table until they were all gone.

It tastes like chicken, at least that is what I was told! Of course, everything gross is touted as tasting like chicken! ;)

I looked up Durian and have to say I would probably be willing to try it. I am more willing to experiment with fruits and veggies then I am with meats...

Balut would have been. Glad I didn't though. Plus, I eat some things that'd make a billy goat puke. But, never, never will I eat balut. Not even if it's served by "The Cat in the Hat"!

You guys have me searching google on a lot of these, but I have to say that this is by far the grossest thing on the list so far. Maybe JenJen will send you a prize (I didn't appreciate her reposting the pictures here either, once was enough,). And I thought the stuff on Fear Factor was revolting... but I didn't watch every episode so maybe they had balut too.

I didn't see anyone admit eating dog stew.

Right here. My girlfriend made it for me the day I left the Philipennes the second time. It's good, kind of like boney, chewy beef. The guy in front of me at the plane was glad she made it for me to take on the trip. He was smuggling weed back to Okinawa and the dogs alerted on me, instead of him. I had a big baggie of dog meat stew in my cargo pocket.

Let me see, I've tried:

Lamb
Venison
Elk
Bison
Bear
Squirrel
Rabbit
Alligator
Frog Legs
Turtle
Snails (escargot)
Steak Tartare (basicly raw ground beef with added ingredients)
Head Cheese (BRAINS!!)
All kinds of Sushi and Sashimi
Pretty much all parts of your basic barnyard animals (I once helped a vet castrate a herd of young bulls and he thought I should keep the bits and cook them up, I passed on that one)

All in all pretty standard stuff, no way I'm eating that half ready to hatch egg and such things! And NO BUGS, not even if Leaford says they are yummy. On that note does it scare anyone else this is the guy we have helping develop new flavors for us??

Just teasing you Leaford, you have all my love baby.

WOW! Just, WOW! :D

Great to hear these stories, and there's a LOT I want to respond to, but I am trying to get to the plant earlier today, since I have a ton of flavors to test before I leave for Thailand for xmas. SO, I'll have to respond later.

For now I'll just say bravo to you all!

Perhaps not as exotic, but in Russia we ate raw bacon and drank warm blood of just slaughtered pig with 100 proof moonshine....and nobody ever got sick:D
We also ate cow brains and tails (cooked:D) and pig's feet stew:lol:
BTW, chicken wings was considered to be a "low class" people food. Surprise.....I came to US and one of the most recommended food joints was "Buffalo Wild Wings"... which I love!
