My grandparents (daddys, mom/dad) were from Hungary. They came over during the war, and settled in Chicago. They spoke very little English .... I can cuss in Hungarian
Since me and my husband were married and settled down in (basically) the area we were raised in my mom moved 500 miles away, my mother in law moved 1200 miles away, and next week my Dad is moving 1700 miles away.
I can relate to Big Blue's post a few back. In 1974 I had a 1965 Ford Galaxy 500 ex-Highway Patrol Chase car. Got drunk one night and run it into a house. I was lucky that I was only one injured. The car came to rest at the foot of the people's bed with them in it! I ruined both knees, broke all my ribs front and back, They had to rebuild my face. I still haven't got used to what I see when I look in a mirror! It's not the same face I grew up with! I never Drove drunk again, But it took a few years for me to get sober again!
I am painfully shy in real life, I never think I act or speak appropriately, men make me apprehensive but women frighten me, I didn't have a date until I was 18 and she asked me out. After being in sales I can handle talking to guys for about an hour but women, especially the ones that I think are attractive.......shoot, they still scare the crap out of me!!!!8-o8-o8-o
We already had two dogs, so hubby thought I was crazy when I said that I wanted a chihuahua... She now sleeps between us at night! We don't tell the other two dogs because their feelings would be hurt, but I am completely smitten with her.
#1 I'm off the spend Christmas with my BF for the 3rd yr. That's a record for me. I ususally get tired of BF's after about 4 months. I guess this one is a keeper.
#2 My latest interest is Pyrography. For those of you who don't know what that big word means, it's wood burning. I got inspired when I say Rhaphsodies Fire's (Lisa's) work on a Reo that she gave away in a contest. I'll never be as good as her but that is my goal.
I was up too late last night trying to be Santa for my granddaughter who is living with me for awhile longer. It happened, but not as smoothly as I would have wanted. We're both a little sleep deprived today. Hoping the rest of the day irons out a little smoother.
My paternal grandfather was the long time Chauffeur for Eddie Debartlo, the then owner of the San Francisco 49ers. So most of my family are die hard 49er fans and I have one of two footballs signed by the entire team for Superbowl 16!
One of my fondest memories is of my grandmother, who was 92 at the time, trying to lift her tea cup after my father had jokingly taped it down to the morning breakfast tray. PRICELESS
