Is this like buying a BMW for Vapers? Because I already have one that I ordered in the garage. Nice, but I don't drive it every day.

I guess it depends on your point if view.
You're not buying the battery. You're buying a mod that has been proven to be indestructible; and, in the unlikely event of failure is supported by the manufacturer from the time you but it, till the cows come home. I was on the fence before i got mine, doing research. Then went into the local authorized dealer for juice and they were showing someone else it's durability by slamming it onto the concrete floor. I was in total shock, went home and ordered it.
Not only is it durable but it also puts out the smoothest and most accurate output signal available. The best way to say it was my first reaction when i got it.-"now i get it."
That said, its not the one device for everyone, but for those whose vaping style it suites it is the go to device, the workhorse, the 56 chevy pickup that never goes out of style and wont die.
Many of us that own them, own them because when the earth stops spinning 2 things will be left,cockroaches and provari's. The mod is that reliable.
I got my first one in march and so far it has:
Been run over 4 times
Fallen in the toilet
Dropped off the deck of my camp 27 ft in the air.
It has sustained zero Scratches and still works ad good as the day it showed up.
Truthfully when you do the math ive saved money in the mod dept. 2 packs a day at 6 a pack would be 12 dollars a day or 84 dollars a week, or 336 dollars a month. The 2.5 satin i bought with ring was 168.00.

No, it is not.
The ProVari 2.5 is much like the energizer bunny of mods/advanced vaping devices. The ProVari has been the benchmark for regulated/vari devices for nearly 4 years, IMHO. Batteries are not included, like most advanced vaping devices.
There has been no announced price yet for the ProVari 3 - P3. It is a brand new device and is being beta tested broadly at this time and is expected to be at a somewhat higher price point than the ProVari.
There are several other devices on the market with similar and much higher prices, including some where the features are more decorative than technology oriented. Some may be finicky racecars and others pretty wagons with new tech wheels.

I see it as an attempt by a company with limited supply doing their best to keep the P3 out of the hands of flippers until they have enough stock built up to do an online release.

If their roll-out plan is going to deter you from buying one, I guess that's more for me!
It's Provape. Let them do what they want.
If they did the opposite, and didn't let dealers buy them right away, it would be a slap in the dealers' faces!
I'm sure it would please everyone if everyone were able to purchase at the same time, but they'd run out of stock too quickly!

Choices choices. Arghhh!!! Dna30 mod, sx350 mod and now the p3. I like the dependability that the provari offers, but given a good dna30 mod or sx350 mod, are there any real issues with those? Vaporshark vs tatroe vs p3? Choices are great to have, but not when they are all good options!!!!
I'm still happily using my 3+ year old Provari, so I'm not too sure on the details of the other mods, but I heard the DNA30 has an issue where if you put the battery in backwards it will fry it. Don't quote me on that, but that's what I read.

WE should all be happy that they get to Beta test. Makes for a more refined product and gives them the opportunity to go hands on and learn about the P3 so they have product knowledge when they sell and support the device. Customers like me get to hold it. Test my toppers and provide input. It builds a brand for both parties and of course creates "buzz" via word of mouth. It's also a quasi focus group to measure the popularity of the P3 with NEW users who have never owned a Vari before. This point (NEW users) is critical in the health and very existence of a business. What's not to like!

That is true - there is no backward protection, but with the vaporshark for example - it includes a charging port so you don't have to take out the battery for quite a while and just need to be paying attention when you do. Stupid oversight and no buck circuit too, which in my opinion is the biggest letdown. Sx350 chips have all the features mentioned. I can't wait till the p3 is available and real life reviews come streaming in. That's the true test vs all the video reviews that are there now.
Ahh, well at least the Vaporshark made the best of it they could.
I JUST found out that Roar Vapor is a Provape retailer, and they are only 90 miles away, so I'm hoping I can check them out soon to maybe play with a P3. With my Kayfun Nano I vape at about 12 watts(anyone remember when that was considered high power?), so the P3 doesn't show me any limitations.
I would imagine that a majority of the target audience of the ProVari 3 will find the 20 watt limit to be more than adequate. I don't claim to be a statistician by any means, but I would say around Pearl Harbor Naval Base, I have met somewhere along the lines of 150-200 people that use APV's on the various submarines that I provide support to. They have become very popular amongst submariners since the US Navy established a no smoking policy on all submarines a few years back. I have personally talked to almost all of them about why they made their choice in device, and what they like about it. Most of them had never even heard of the ProVari and when I let them handle and use mine, they were very impressed with its rock solid feel and smooth power delivery characteristics. Only 2 people I have talked to were using mechanicals, and only one of those 2 was using a sub ohm multi coil RDA. Most of the folks were using Lavatube devices from Volcano E-Cigs, and their choice was based on high availability (Volcano has retail stores all over Oahu). Most of them have told me that if they knew about the ProVari when they bought the LavaTube, they would have purchased a ProVari instead.
So in my limited research, not scientific by any means, almost every single one of those folks would be able to enjoy their current topper on a ProVari 3.
Like I said, it probably doesn't mean anything... But I would say it's a pretty good random sample of the "mainstream" users of APV's beyond the typical eGo users. For what it's worth...
That sounds about right. In my 4 years of vaping, I've only met 2 other people who used APV's. One had a huge box mod with the display on the side. Can't remember offhand what it's called, and one was using a Vamo. Literally accross the board every other person was using either a cig-alike or an eGo-clone with a Stardust-type clearomizer.
