Looking for a good LiPo safe bag for charging...
Anyone know of where to buy a good one? Any particularly trusted brand or model?

No, you do NOT want one. You're not charging LiPo's - you're charging LiMn's. It's called a LiPo charging bag for a reason.

LiPo's are typically charged away from the charger. You plug cables from the LiPo battery pack into the charger. You put the LiPo's in the bag, with the wires coming out to the charger. With all the cells we use for vaping, they're placed IN the charger. You do NOT want to place the charger in a LiPo bag, or you'll create the very situation you're trying to avoid. Chargers need to breathe!

Damn! I totally didn't know that...
I live in a multi-unit apartment building, and I'm just trying to avoid any problems...
So what do I do?

I know this is terribly off topic, but where/who else am I going to ask? The old ladies in the kitting forum?

If there is a legitimate battery safety thread, please link!

Use a high quality charger, and don't leave the charger unattended while it's charging batteries.
Also, make sure you have renters insurance to cover "just in case".

What charger are you using?

Baditude use to be the MAN to talk about batteries with...sadly he's not around much anymore...

I was really looking forward to the P3 release, but as time goes by and more information is being revealed I can honestly say my interest is very sadly waning. I don't live within a reasonable driving distance of a ProVari dealer, but was 'okay' with ordering directly from ProVape (and pay the $35 - $45 shipping to Canada) as I have with our others (his & hers), but the whole "update" thing is killing it for me.

Paying to send them to someone I don't know and being without them for however long seems unreasonable, and paying $$$ to send them to ProVape and being without them for even longer seems even more unreasonable. Has there been any mention of how often updates may be required? If not, ProVape, could you share?

Huh? The "update thing" is an additional FEATURE. When was the last time you updated any mod?

Has there been any mention of how often updates may be required?

Updates are NEVER required - it's a future-proofing feature. You don't have to update, but if ProVape adds a feature you want, isn't it a great thing to have the option to be able to add features to your mod, without them releasing the "P4" and making you buy another one? I don't get it... there's nothing negative about this, at all.

I agree completely. I'm not sure why Snapdragon finds this a turnoff? If there was an update available for either of his 2.5's and he wanted it, what would be different about sending it to Provape for the update and now? Plus being able to get a P3 updated at a Provari dealer, without having to send it away is just icing on the cake. But he never HAS to get his device updated unless it's an update he wants.

It's never going to be "required" to update. The device will work great without any updates.

It would certainly be up to the customer to decide if they wanted to add any of the new features.

So the question is would you rather not have that feature available and when new functionality comes out you would not be able to update. That would require purchasing a new device to get those added features. We see it as a cost savings for the customer.

Well johnD0406 - thanks for the clarification.

That wasn't the impression I had at all (yes, I've kept up with the entire list) and I appreciate the explanation.

To me, updates are usually frequent and mostly bug fixes. Don't ask me why iThought that ;-)

Yes, I'm sure it will be great, for everyone with easy access. For some reason I was viewing it more as means of encouraging vendors to become ProVari dealers with the promise of more through-the-door traffic every time there's a new 'update'. Cynical? Maybe, but certainly a good marketing strategy for ProVape. Why wouldn't they want to sell us new P4s?

When was the last time I updated any mod? Well, Joyetech offered updates on the original eVic (I had 2, back in the day). But those were done by the owner via their website for free.

Thanks again for your reply - it helped. :)

I would want that update, O'ya. But would want it automatically done like it's with our internet devices. I would not want to drive down to the nearest Apple Store (aka P'vari dealer) or ship it to them for the act. And pay for it too! -No, nada, it should be a 'free feature' (there was a mention of a 'fee' for it right? If not, my bad). And it should be as easily done as possible, just connect the P3 to your notebook, hit the Provape site, download the files and voila!

I'm thus fully with Snapdragon on this front!

Thanks for your speedy reply also!

Who wouldn't want all the new features and functionality? I certainly would, absolutely.

But the point was, how that won't be a viable option for many who don't live in the US or have access to an authorized dealer and how frequent updates would only increase the disappointment, thats all.

PS - thanks Qorax - you made the point much better than I.

Hi all! I hope this isn't a dumb question. I am a loyal Provari owner (I have 3 minis that I love) but I just watched a video on the new dna40. They talked a lot about temperature control and safety.

One of the features of the p3 is thermal monitoring. Is the only difference that on the dna40 I can set my temperature shutdown point and on the provari it is already preset?

Yup that is a very good question...I have a DNA 40 arriving on Monday and will also buy a P3. I have not seen the Provape detailed explanation of Temperature Monitoring...or I if I did, thought it was related to the battery and not the coil on your atty....

Does anyone know the answer to this?

Why wouldn't they want to sell us new P4s?

Oh, they will... that's a given. There's only so much you can do in software. Maybe they will come out with a 30W (or more) P4, and maybe the P3's internals can't handle that much current safely. So, let's take a few guesses as to what the P4 will offer (before the P3 is even released, lol).

1) Higher wattage/amperage.
2) RGB OLED screen - multi-colored menus, or user-set solid color of choice.
3) Screen auto-rotates (like your phone) depending on how you hold it - no more menu selection.
4) Voice recognition - "P4, increase wattage to 30W"; "P4, change LED color to green"...
5) Bluetooth/wifi - transmit stats to an iPhone/Android app (if you hate that, don't use it)
6) Coil temperature reading/limiting - with all the new research on coil/juice temps, this is a prime target for the #1 safety-minded vape company.
X) Variable Amperage - my battery can handle X, and I want to send the most possible power to the dripper atty regardless of volts/watts. Or, I have a cheap-... battery because I'm in Podunk and they only sell ICR's and this is an emergency so I want to limit the current draw. Oh, wait, that can be done today, scratch that one...
Y) P4 thread. No, that would be silly.
Z) Alarm clock. Time to vape!
