Bump for an answer to this please ... it's one of the reasons I'm on the fence.

Updates on my iPhone I can do ... updates on my Provari :(

I don't get it. Shouldn't you be happy that you're now ABLE to update the firmware? That opens the doors to new features without having to buy a new device. Just like previous ProVari models, you can keep the firmware the same as the day you bought it if the though of upgrades bothers you for some odd reason. It'll work just as good as it did the day you bought it. I've been using my ProVari 2.5 for a long time now, and if there ever were any updates for it, I'm oblivious to it as it still works great.

Think about this. The only known bug in the release firmware (v35) was an extremely minor display brightness issue when recalling saved presets. It's so minor that nobody in the entire length of the extensive P3 beta program period even noticed. Kudos for ProVape for fixing it in a newer build, but 5 people in the world will really care (and they're all in this tread, lol). The only reason I was holding out to get that fix is because I have a beta unit, which has v31 of the firmware. It's missing quite a bit that the release version has, and since I have to send it in for an update, I might as well wait for the last known bug to be fixed. I doubt ANYONE will send in a v35 P3 to get updated to v36 - that's crazy IMHO.

As with ANY product, analyze it, do your research, and decide if the product is right for you the way it is at that moment, because in most cases that will never change. Thankfully, ProVape have added the ability to make improvements and add features without asking you to buy a new model. Products are always being improved upon. Sometimes that's revealed as a series of small firmware updates; sometimes that's revealed all at once years later in a new product. Which method would you prefer?

No, we can't do updates ourselves (maybe in the P4?) but I'll need to check with my local vape shop where I bought my P3 to see if they will be doing them. If they won't be doing them, this is one thing that may not be so great as I'd then need to send my P3 across the country to Seattle for an update. And then I'd have to be without my P3, which would make me sad. Yes, sad indeed. Fortunately, if the only thing version 36 does is make my P3 remember different light settings in the programmable settings mode, it's not really that important to me as I don't use different tops, so I don't have different settings and even if I did, I wouldn't likely change the light output level even if I did.

Still, one wants their beloved to have the most up to date programming, right?

I hear you ... I live in a different country.

I am not too comfortable with a device that needs to be returned for updates ... Canada Post is very expensive to ship even a feather

The post above from JohnDO406 was written so well, I couldn't improve on it. No, I couldn't.

You're absolutely correct. I certainly wouldn't send my P3 for an update that only makes the lighting level in programs adjustable. If my local shop won't be doing updates, I'd wait for something more important than a feature I won't use anyway.

Nope! Just send it in for an update. Think of it as sending your beloved to a spa for a few days. ProVape has amazing turn around time. ;)

Yeah, seven days door-to-door in most cases. Or...

No... you can still send back to Provape..... but there are good vape shops out there...and I know there are two within a few miles of where you live.

I know the (well-known company's) one in Port, which would likely be my selection. Do share the 2nd though, please? But I'd VERY likely go "Cherry picking" if I had to break my streak.

Hi all, I don't know if the software update from version 3.5 to 3.6 is "only" fixing the brightness recall problem, but I have found that it is not only a very minor bug, but also only temporary... Let say I set the display brightness to level 5 and save it to location #1, and then load a different saved location, ie; #2... and then after I load setting # 1 the brightness would revert to level 3, but I found that this is only temporary and that within a period of about 2 mins, it would start showing the display at level 5 as it is supposed to... all by itself... found this tinkering this evening...

So I have to also agree with some of you even more now, if ver 3.6's only fix is the brightness "bug", then I would probably wait for a more "major" update... I'd hate to have to separate from the "precioussssssssss" for any lenght of time... :))))

 (no dancing bananas yet!) hihihi

Those guys are good and that was the 1st on my list... plus they are around the corner from Capitol Theater ... They have a no clone policy - only sell the real deal, and prices are competitive with the web.

And then there's one down in Harrison on the ProVape list- Honest Vapor - both shops are very different and both are excellent to deal with.

Thanks jimbo. I didn't know about HV. I figure I can always pop into Buffalo Wild Wings and catch some of the games on Sunday if I go our preferred route. ;-)

Ok folks, need a little guidance. Picked up a P3 last weekend, and it performs as expected with one serious concern...it eats batteries! Boost mode is OFF. Fully charged VTC5 only gets me 6-7 hours of vape time @ 20w. I can put the same fully charged battery in a DNA30 or SX350 device, using the same atty & coil, and run 15-16 hours. Is there something wrong, or is this normal?

I've noticed the same thing. Battery life is about 25% less for me. I'm running mine at 10.5 watts. I took the boost off. I wasn't loving it with BVC Nautilus. I was getting 5-6 mls out of 650s on my 2.5s. Now about4.5.
Picked up 2 new AW 650s when I bought the unit 3 weeks ago. Looking for the latest AW or something else.
I'm spoiled from the battery life on my 2.5s.

I don't get it. Battery life on my P3, with AW 18490 batteries with Silo and 1.8 Ohm BVC running at 9.8 watts/4.4 volts is lasting just as long on my P3 as they did on my 2.5 and I do use boost (level 2, but boost none-the-less). I vape all day......ALL DAY starting at 7:00 AM. It's now 10:30 PM and according to my P3 the battery percentage is 44%.

I initially had no noticeable change the first few days when I ran regular attys 3 ohm at 5.2V just like on my mini .... might have been a little drop off when I switched to VW (between 8 and 9)...Didn't run into battery drain worries till I started messing with 26ga and pushing the limits...

Good news on that front... after dropping to 1.1 ohms @ 14W with boost on 2 my VTC4 went over 10 hours... now testing a 490 (with a low IQ of 68- deliberately using a battery that has seen better days) - if that lasts 3-4 hours till I call it a night, I'm a very happy camper.. So far so good- 1 hr in and it's at 62% (started at 85%)...

I'd prefer to use 490's and change 2 or 3 x a day than try to make it through with a 650 -

note: I'm sure someone unfamiliar with RBAs/RDAs is going to read some of my posts and say what the ...?
- realize a standard off the shelf atty is built with 32ga or 34ga wire- a 26ga build requires 8x the energy to get to the same temperature - although you don't need to get to the same temperature to get a lot more vapor.....suffice it to say it'll drain your battery a lot faster.... and that has nothing to do with the device.

Wait....what???? I've had my P3, a production P3 for two weeks and you've already updated the firmware?

This is why I'm waiting.

Let 'em get out, oh.. about... 10-12 versions.. then we'll talk.

;)

Course, I have this email sitting here...

How much juice are going through during this time period ? I think that would a better comparison. I'm going to put my Kayfun
on today. 28 gauge and reads 1.2. Just to see the difference.
I'm also going to switch back to VV mode to see if that changes anything.
