So I mentioned I re-wicked my KFL+ last night. I don't know what's different (other than maybe a tad more cotton), but it's vaping better than it did when I first built the coil. It's quieter than it was. The vapor production seems better. The taste is fine just as it was when it went into use a week ago. What would make the same exact coil with just a wad of new cotton work better?

Willy my friend you went from angry man:mad: to a happy man now:). I thought the same as Jim as to how could it take 18 days. I'm happy it all worked out for you.

I have my RMA all filled out and will be heading to the post office. Provape should receive it on Monday and if they ship it back the same day I'll have it on Wednesday. I received my beauty ring for my 2.5 which looks great but I'm not liking the 2.5 menu at all. My since using the P3 daily the 2.5 seems outdated.

I know some have had issues with their battery showing empty but the battery is far from dead. I might have had that issue once as I was sure the battery was fresh and the indicator showed empty. Putting the battery back on the charger and within a hour it was fully charged again. So this update is good for me just to make sure all is well and the changes Provape is making are just improvements on a great and safe system.

A fresh wick just functions better IMO. It's not all charred or gunked. I change after two tanks (which is a function of the juice as much as anything). But like anything in the vape world...to each your own. Find what works for you Sir Rod. And juices do vary. Some wicks will go south sooner than others depending on your e-liquid. Dial yours in and go with it and don't allow anyone tell you when the right time to change a wick is. It only matters when YOU think it should be changed.

Whatever you did you are finding out the KFL vapes better and tastes better. I'm happy you made the switch from Aspire and Kanger to Kayfuns. I doubt you will ever go back.

Pingster, did you get it from ProVape?

I had a ring I got from Dusty who got them from a local guy who made them. I made it work for a long time and it was a nice ring. But over time I've had to open up the diameter as some toppers would not make contact. Well, I've whacked that thing so many times now that it is all deformed and worthless. My wife is using my old P2 now and it doesn't have a beauty ring so I need to get another one. It looks like a tree that a beaver gnawed.

My juices are not dark, so maybe that's a benefit? I just go by taste. If it tastes great, I don't see a need to change a coil (for pre-builts) or the wick (on RBA). The coil I built a week ago was tasting just fine until yesterday, when it was just starting to taste a bit stale. So that's why I changed the wick last night after a full week. I'll be delighted if I only have to re-wick once a week!

I agree Ping. I'm not sure I could possibly go back to a Kanger/Aspire system again. The KFL+ is simply another world altogether. Yes it is!

I find the color of the juice is irrelevant.

If you think about it, the effort it takes to swap out a wick is pretty small.

I was dreading changing the wick. I pulled out the old, burned the coil a few times to get the gunk off, made sure it was glowing the way it should, put a new piece of cotton in, primed it. put it all back together, refilled the tank and let it sit for about 5 minutes before I starting vaping. And then I realized it was just so simple and it worked so well. So Sir Rod can be taught new tricks. Yes he can!

I spoke to the owner of the vape shop in Reiserstown re the P3 upgrade. He said that ProVape hasn't given the go ahead to update yet, but expects to get the ok today or tomorrow. He also said that all the folks in the shop have upgraded and love the enhancements. I'm going on Monday. Woot!

I'm glad LB! Going over there from the DC area seemed a better solution than shipping your P3 cross-country!

I'm expecting and hoping that more B&M's will be offering this service, especially since there is now an upgrade to get!

None of the 10 or so dealers that pop up for my zip code currently do the service, though I know there are others somewhere in this large metropolis that do. I could use more pages on that search function......or how about getting the software adjusted or having a separate list for the ones that do the service?

All of the programmers were updated on 05/05/2015 and we emailed all the dealers. Sometimes they don't open their emails or it goes to spam, but they are all able to update. :)

Yes, I bought from Provape and it has no effect on the KFL's. :)

I agree Ping. I'm not sure I could possibly go back to a Kanger/Aspire system again. The KFL+ is simply another world altogether. Yes it is!

I agree and I'll never go back to the old coil system. :w00t:

Bronze, maybe I'm not remembering correctly, but either in the bazillion videos I watched on coil building or maybe here on ECF, I thought I heard darker juices can be thicker, gunking up coils faster? Maybe I've got it wrong, but it has kind of stuck in my pea-sized brain.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I may enjoy a pleasant drive to Santa Barbara instead. Traffic is a lot nicer in that direction.
