Way worse than that. It's a Fodera. I made the mistake of playing one in NYC a few years ago. I have 2 now. Pretty bad when you plan a vacation around picking the actual pieces of wood your guitar will be made of.Who needs to eat anyways?
I picked up a Radius this afternoon. Using it now. Great mod!
Haha I thought I was bad with my guitar obsession! Fodera builds incredible instruments...at an equally incredible price tag!
Thank you for the compliment! It means a lot coming from a highly skilled crafter, such as yourself!Well thought out design and execution HB!
Wonder how he got his hands on this particular model. Very desirable and Rare! Usually issued to On Board Naval Personnel.
You can tell it was used a lot, and not just a Safe Queen!
Knife
Jeez man! Not with a knife!!!!Am I the only one thinking about Christopher Walken and the watch scene from Pulp Fiction?

Thanks for the info!!!The Issue (Army) Kabar, had a angular grind line to the blade,a dn a deep blood groove. ( blood groove is an american term. It's actually called a "Fuller"). The .... is a apx. 3/16" piece of steel. Directly against the leather handle.
The AirForce version, is a shorter, thicker blade, with sawteeth on the bladed top edge, and a 6 sided long section of steal for the .... cap.
The Navy version was high polished, and had no groves (Usually in the grip) with red material between the guard and rear .... cap. But the biggest difference, was the blade was flat ground rather than the sabre grind of all the others.
Your's if full flat ground. I've done a LOT of Knife shows over the years, and seen a lot of collections, both rare, and common. but I've never seen this particular modes. But the Blade Screams Navy.
Also, all the others, are double guarded. Where as, your example is single guarded.
Can you read the makers mark? Most were made by Kabar and Calimus. (I always misspell it!).
Whatever it is, it's Unique, and I would think, highly desireable.
You should be very proud to own it considering it was your grandads, and it's uniqueness can only add to the Pride of Ownership!
Knife
That would be a rare k-bar model iirc due to the covered pummel mainly. Mostly used on naval vessels but some went to paratroopers and tank crews. It's been a while since I've seen one but I'll try to find my research on them. If you can read the numbers off the blade I can try and get some history on that specific knife from a few military sources I have.Thank you for the compliment! I'm not sure what the whole story behind the knife is, and Gpa has passed on. All I remember him telling me is that it was his "Army issue"...maybe he traded another serviceman?
If you don't mind my asking, since you obviously have great knowledge on the topic of knives...what is it that makes this knife so desirable and rare?
I'm assuming, like with all things, that a well-used one probably has less value than a pristine one...
You'll learn fast- pics of your Radius or it didn't happen!!!!Way worse than that. It's a Fodera. I made the mistake of playing one in NYC a few years ago. I have 2 now. Did I miss something?
Apologies as I am new here....
Turf was just trying to keep you from getting dinged because anything related to buying/selling must be done in the classifieds & one can only get to the classies after they've been verified by ECF.New is fine...

Knife
So I guess, is it just a piece of junk?
Not at all but it need some tlc.![]()
I have heard from several antique collectors that cleaning the patina off of things is bad to do...and can actually decrease the value!I think I have had that for around 36 years, and I have not looked at it for about 25 years. I know it needs to be cleaned up, but with someone on here that knows stuff, thought I should ask.
KAS
Yup. You nailed me on that last time. Will do when I actually put it down. You'll learn fast- pics of your Radius or it didn't happen!!!!

Do nothing but sharpen it and use some blade oil on it to protect it. The handle is made up of leather discs that harden over time but are protected somewhat by the oils absorbed from your skin. ANY work other than what you did to read the makers mark will kill the collector value. The patina of use and provenance are essential to the value. Thanks, I won't do any thing to it then, I did have to use a bit of steel wool on the name though, but just enough to be able to read the name.
