I did the 40CC update today. Then I played around with the CC until my battery died. I threw it on the charger. When done, I went back to vaping in CC. After about 5 hours the battery meter showed about 1/4 down from full. The next vape I took, the battery totally discharged. I have had the Radius since they were first released last October, and I always used the USB to recharge.

I wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I'm also thinking I should swap out the battery and use my charger to charge it (VP 4). It is just weird that this happened to me right after I did the update.

ETA: When I swapped out the battery, the old one showed 3.77 on my charger, and seemed okay.
I had something very similar happen in my brand new 60 watt Radius. My battery meter showed about 3 quarters full, decided to give cc a go, set it up, pressed fire and dead battery instantly!

After removing the battery and shoving it in the charger it showed 3.7 too! So I'd say definitely a software issue. Might be worth us informing Provape.

I'll do the same, let them know its not a one off ;)

I was chatting with Blake anyway so just updated that ticket, I'll let you know when I hear anything. I just tried recreating the issue, had 50% battery left so tried changing to CC and same thing battery dropped to zero, charger showed 3.67 volts left.

I built the cloud one with a special build for he radius

e7ff3bd21a4993a87b5c1e1a8db48a59.jpg

.82 build contact Clapton coil 28(316L) / 36 (kanthal) - 8 wraps 2mm id

Radius setting of i3 for good super flavorful cool control.

Kanthal outer wire of the Clapton allows seamless contact cool without hot spots and the heat time - because this is an uncommon Clapton wire in size and works great for mouth to lung is more than fast enough especially since full power is applied initially in coil control.

I'd encourage anyone into building with a radius to pop to lighteningvapes.com and grab some of this wire. $11/25'. Coil takes six inches. Can be dry burnt without any issue and used for months. So not as expensive as it seems initially. Coupon code : OHMSWEETOHM saves 10% I believe.

I didn't count the wraps but the picture should be clear enough. I'm guessing it's 8 from the resistance.

Typically stainless 28 gauge is just under .1 ohm per wrap at 2.5mm id

This tank - thick juice. Wicking is a little slow. For some mtl vapors this will be too hot. If
You have room as a ninth wrap for Most.

* if you're not into Coil control grab the kanthal
Core kanthal wrap Clapton wire 28/36 (pay attention there are a lot of Choices) and try a six wrap 2mm id contact coil for a 1 ohm build. 7 wraps if you like s little lighter vape. This wire blasts flavor out of juice without the downsides of most Clapton wire for mtl capers like lung scorching vapor and egregious initial heat times.

Loving the combo of tank build radius.

So that's the "36k / 28k Single Core" wire?
Meaning 36g Kanthal wrapped around a 28g Kanthal core?

As always top marks to Provape, been chatting to Blake about Coil control triggering a low battery, gave me some suggestions but seems it may be a bug, he is passing on the info to an engineer, I have faith they will figure it out in no time.

I'll update with more info when I hear anything ;)

I'm hoping it can be fixed with a firmware update.

Not a Radius owner (yet), but I do work in technology...
The company I work for utilizes a lot of updates and whatnot.
A lot of times, a software/firmware issue can be resolved by downgrading to the previous version, and then reinstalling the newest version.
Heck, sometimes it can be resolved just by running the device through the update again, without downgrading!

No it's the 36k/28s for temp control. But it's a longer coil than 36k/28k. Sorry. Was late

I just posted about the non temp build version of this in the gp thread. Which rocks in he heron v2

So. My theory is.

You're in coil Control which starts with full power and your battery level is low enough that the internal logic is triggering because it can't maintain the Amps draw of 40 watts with your build at their desired levels which makes it appear the battery is weaker than it is. If you went out of coil control and fired at full power my guess is that you'd see low battery too. Don't try it if you're using ore made could you'd probably fry the coil

Funnily enough this happens with the DNA 75 chip. But you can change the power level.

I do think provape should add the ability for us to change max power applied in coil control. More finely than the numbers. Like in the menu. Give a max power setting in watts.

Full wicking for me it's s little too hot. Next number down is a little too low.

One other Small (or not so) Complaint. I hate that the radius is a watts only device when real battery measures are volts and amps. It greatly reduced the usefulness of the memory slots. On the p3 I can set to

3.7v
3.7v boost 3
4.0v
4.3v
4.3v boost 3

That ensures I get almost the exact same
Experience as any other good device and the benefits of boost without fiddling with any settings ever. There are settings hat mirror mech mods on low battery. Full battery. Both with boost. In between.

The way the calculation works trying to do that with watts is not going to work. Ever. If you change atomizers a lot.

So I'm disappointed they removed one kf the best features of the p3. And I think many vapers who build and it have a series of tanks are going to
Feel the same.

This is
One thing holding me back from another one. And it's something j really hope they can add after the fact. I don't know why they don't show the volts equivalency at least like the p3.

Please provape bring back volts

P.S. Blake is an outstanding customer
Service rep. He always goes above and beyond and he's a really nice guy on top of it. For my requirements he not only followed through but kept me informed every step of the way. You're in good hands.

Yeah I would need non-temp.

So the 36k/28k would be that?

Just looking to play with something different from plain old 28k.

No temp control for me. 10 watts on an 1.0 ohm build ain't really pushing too many boundaries!

Yes that's it. You could use the stainless wrapped in kanthal but the resistance vs coil wraps isn't as good for most applications of you don't need temp Control. I use their Clapton wire almost exclusively now in unless it can't fit. It is SO GOOD.

the fact you can change wicks. Dry burn for five seconds with s small Water dunk and use again and again and again and again and again. You won't need to rebuild a coil for maybe six months if you rewick weekly. In decked that can't fit that wire I use 29 gauge kanthal now instead of 28 - it has some preferred properties for me. The heat up time on a 6 wrap one ohm 2mm id 29 gauge coil is faster than instant (ok not possible). And the density i get is great.

The 29 gauge kanthal is so inexpensive id suggest you grab in at least 100' when you order the Clapton. A few more dollars for a fiat bit of wire. You may find , as many others like myself who changed from 28, that you really end up Preferring it. Given you're paying shipping costs (mostly covered by the coupon code OHMSWEETOHM you may as well Try at least two wires. Anything but Clapton is super inexpensive and all their wire is very good quality.

Forgive any typos all. I'm having a hard time getting through posting today.

I know your statement was not aimed at me, but I wanted to say this:
(Bear in mind, this is a text based conversation, so sarcasm doesn't translate very well, and may have sparked this.)
--------------
I whole heartedly agree with what you said here, although I don't completely share your opinion on Provape "not" being the best in the industry.

But that's all it is.

A difference of opinion.

It's sad to see people attack each other over a matter of opinion these days...but that's the world we are living in.

You stating your opinion about other companies being on the same level or even better than Provape, is just that. Your opinion.
I do not stand behind anyone who saw your statement as an attack, nor anyone who passive-aggressively responded in the like.
Bear in mind, this is a text based conversation, so sarcasm doesn't translate very well, and may have sparked this.

This country has free speech at its core, and people are not required to have the same views.

I saw nothing wrong with your statement, and I knew there would be backlash.

 Oh well. Some folks just want to perpetuate closed-minded thinking, and condemn others for not sharing their opinions.

Boy, if I did that, I wouldn't have any friends...cuz I'm a diehard death metal fan, and not a single one of my friends, including my woman, can stand death metal on any level.
Oh and not to mention that I'm the only one in my circle of friends and family that vapes.

Good on ya, Geek.

I'll be over here, awaiting MY backlash for the things I've said here.
But I'm not going to argue/fight/speak out against those that would do so against me. Because their opinion is just that. Their opinion.
Bear in mind, this is a text based conversation, so sarcasm doesn't translate very well, and may have sparked this.
Bear in mind, that metal heads have a different opinion. But, when no one else thinks like you, your opinion may be different. I like metal, and I like provape. I could care less if you do, or don't like provari. I like provari. Nothing else matters to me. I take a great many things with a grain of salt, simply because we all have our own opinion. I've had the other mods, I have a radius, my minis get the use most of the time. Because I like them better. That's all.

Ya couldn't-a been remember anything I've said here, cuz I ain't-a been around these parts for some time...

But I did have somethin' to say on what yer speakin' on here:

I've been vaping since early-middle 2010.

I done seen it all. (Sarcasm)
And over that time, I've collected myself 10 Provari, a Mark Bugs WAEII, and a half dozen Billet Boxes (those all came home within the last two months cuz I kinda got bit by the BBox bug hard)...
Anywho...
I fully plan on ordering a 60W Radius (Maybe two, maybe more).
Why does this relate to your post?
Because I've tapered off to 0mg.
And I stepped off the Nic train in April 2014.
I started at 24mg, and then quit smoking completely. Not too long after, I fell in love with 16mg.
The problem with 16mg is that it quickly became an unpopular strength, for reasons only known to the powers that be.
So, rather than face another large drop, down to 12mg...I stepped back up to 18mg.
Eventually I worked down to 12mg, followed by 6mg.
When I hit 3mg, in late 2013, I finally had one night on the couch where I hadn't vaped in a few hours cuz I was distracted by other things. I picked up my tootler, took a puff, and about 5min later I felt the nicotine hit my heart.
Nothing bad happened, except I became consciously aware of the effect nicotine was having on my body. Faster heart rate, I felt a little cooler in temp, and I had the head rush us smokers/vapers know too well.

I didn't hate it, but it made me feel like maybe it was time to step off. So I tried. I dipped my toes in the 0mg waters...and I hated it. Back up to 3mg I went.

Come April 2014, I tried it again, and it stuck.
A couple of months later, I realized my all-day-vapes weren't tasting the same. That's when I learned about two critical parts of vaping.
1. Vaper's tongue. The loss of the ability to taste your favorite juices, usually overcome by a little as drinking some water, to brushing your teeth, and staved off by rotating a few juices regularly.
2. Nicotine adds a big part of the flavor, for many juices.
This was a double edged sword that threatened to kill my favorite hobby.
But I've overcome this by rotating through flavors and devices, and careful selection of flavors that work for me in 0mg. Not a single one of my current favorites came from my Nic days. They've all be curated from my current Nic-free vape style.

(Side note: Lately, I've been really into the JUUL. Yes it's got nicotine, and it's potent, but I only puff it a few times a day. It's not what keeps me vaping.)
That's very cool, thanks for mentioning it. I always assumed that at 0 mg/ml I'd be left with a small mountain of sh1ny and no further use for it. Perhaps i'll keep on vaping.

:toast:

It never left the Classic or P3.

Right. Sorry I thought I mentioned that and then took it as read in the radius thread I meant with the radius. I really don't know why they dumbed down the display and power options in the radius. I use my p3 a lot. But I am not satisfied with 350 battery performance. In sending my p3 in for chip replacement so Maybe they will Be remedied. Meanwhile I use 500 batteries.

I can't thank you enough for this tip, @h00ligan . The company is terrific to work with--my order disappeared at the originator, and the company packed and sent a fresh order immediately! I have both SS and the Clapton you recommended blowing flavorful clouds at .5 and .65 respectively using CC. While these builds also work in VW mode, coil control just blows that out of the water.
