Even though Mount Vernon city council members have questioned the wisdom of regulating vapor products more harshly than combusted tobacco products, the ordinance is moving to a third reading without common sense amendments. As written, this ordinance protects sales of cigarettes to anyone over the age of 18! At the same time, the law would discourage young adults from switching to a safer, smoke-free alternative.
CASAA is not aware of any other proposal in the entire country that makes a distinction between vaping and smoking in such an irresponsible and dangerous way.
Please take action today by sending a message to Mt. Vernon city council members urging them to reject this reckless ordinance!
