Hey all,

Hoping someone could give me advice. I purchased a 1300mah Vision Spinner from DiscountVapers last month. I have been so happy with it, that I purchased 2 more over the next couple of weeks. What great devices! And DV has great prices and fast shipping. Awesome.

However, I'm having a problem with the first one I ordered. All of a sudden it will not charge all the way. Based on the performance I'm getting out of it, I'm getting about 50% charge out of it...AND there doesn't seem to be much power to it no matter what the voltage is set at.

I have messed around with it a bit. I keep my contacts clean all the time. I even tried slightly raising the center pin but to no avail. I have tried it on 3 different chargers. I get the same result from all 3 chargers, even when all 3 chargers are working fine for my other batteries.

I don't know what else to do! I sent an email to the Discount Vapers customer service hoping they can help me. Their site says they have a 30 day return policy and if you return a battery and they think you did something to ruin it they will not replace or refund. They said they open the battery to look for liquid, and if there is liquid then they deem it as my fault. I don't see anything abnormal liquid wise...and I never have leaking problems.

I'm stumped. Any advice/ideas?

No matter how much you look at it, or how much you pay, the ego type batteries are "Disposable" batteries. This includes Spinners and Twists.
Sometimes they are great and will last you a while, sometimes not so great. Whether it's Quality Control from before you bought it or "leaks" into the connector during your own use, these are going to have short life expectancies unless you get that one out of a hundred that just won't quit!

I know they aren't supposed to last forever. But just got this one last month.

Here is something interesting. I've been dealing with this for a few days now....and just decided to post here and email DV this evening. Miraculously, the battery seems to be charged. The green light came on the charger and stayed green for the first time since the problem developed. Now I feel crazy (imagine Will Ferrel in Zoolander when he shouts "I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!!!!)

The Spinners are great batteries but they are NOT Egos. They're Ego style but that's it. If you're using an EGO charger they won't work. For some reason, the correct charger looks just like an ego charger.
You'll need to order a new one, that is NOT an EGO charger.
this is a common issue with spinners. I had this problem with chargers from a local B&M that only sold EGOs. Had to order from fasttech and haven't had a problem since.

i notice that it will take a while for totally dead standard ego or vision or USB pass-through batteries to build up enough of a charge before they will turn back on. i charge my batteries up when they are half dead. people say this makes them last a lot longer. my oldest ego battery is 1.5 years old and it still holds a charge like a champ.

Soo right before I posted about my issue on ECF, I sent an email to DV. Do you believe I got a response less than 30 mins later? I was just logging into my email to send them an email saying "never mind for now, it miraculously fixed itself" and saw their friendly response. I then told them how it was working and they even responded to that, asking me to let them know if I encounter any more issues.

All of this at almost midnight on a Saturday night. Excellent service! You can't beat their prices and ship times, either. Definitely going to order from them again next time I need stuff.

Oh...and after I told them that I tried fiddling with the center pin AGAIN to see if it would work, they did tell me that the center pin issue can cause a short and cause it to act funky for a while and this will affect charging. I never screw anything on too tight, but who knows...maybe I jarred it or something and caused the center pin to be angry.

It's my favorite battery, too...So I'm glad it's working again. It's the rainbow colored one. :)

The only things I can add to this discussion is that you should be keeping your toppers and batteries clean. I drip into an atty. If I miss, and I do sometimes, I will take the atty off and clean the atty and the battery. My four Spinners (1300mah) have been going strong for almost 5 months now. Do rotate their usage. It is good to let them 'rest' after they are charged if you can. I have a bad habit of using mine til they go dead. So far they are fine, all of them. I would charge more frequently if I would pay better attention to it. Also, I am careful about how I screw the toppers on and do not screw them on tightly, just enough to get the connection.

The longevity of the Twists the Spinners and their chargers seem to be luck of the draw as much as anything else. They have cheap wiring, buttons and electronics. I used to think the Twists were a bit better but lately my Spinners have been outlasting the Twists. Probably just luck. I still think that they are a reasonable value for the price.

Seriously if want something that will last you are going to have to shell out some money.

I know they have some "serviceable" type eGo sized batteries at FT, but they are unregulated...this is why I like my Vamo and other devices that you can swap out the batteries...when an eGo battery goes kaput someone not electronics inclined pretty much chunk em...those of us that know how to solder and whatnot can pull out the dead (non recharging) battery and solder in a new one of equivalent size.

Once the eGo batteries recharge lifecycle is done...they are designed to be chunked, guess the tinkerer in me wants to rebuild em :D

I have found those USB to EGO-style chargers to be more of an issue than the batteries themselves. Except for the way the metal connection is fitted to the battery body. It's the connection to the EGO battery that I have found to be the problem. I had them snap and break, no connection, with the battery attached wiggling it would cause the green light to fluctuate.

As a previous poster stated, these round EGO-style batteries and their associated chargers really are nothing more than a "disposable" unit.

Upgrade to a iTaste VV v3.0 mod unit. You can get them at DesertVapes.com for about $25.95 plus shipping. So for less than $30 you can get a quality unit. They're only an 800 mAH unit but serve their purpose very well and they're a pass-through unit too.

Anybody anywhere can return defective merchandise for a refund within a reasonable amount of time. You sometimes have to play rough with these ecig sellers who want to get out of their responsibility to the consumer. If the seller refuses you a refund, your credit card issuer will back you up.

It's sad that the seller makes you get rough before getting serious. I recently bought some Spinners too, and I suspect the Vision Spinner line is plagued with defects, based on some threads I've since read here and elsewhere. The seller offered only replacement or a store credit, but I need that money to buy some Ego Twists before my original Ego-Ts (genuine Joyetech, durable, reliable, and still working) finally decide to give up the ghost. The seller I used does not offer Ego Twists.

Your credit card issuer will require that you return the merchandise. With that done, the charge will be removed from your account and returned to the seller. Your card issuer values your business even if the seller of defective merchandise isn't. These no-return ecig sellers are really quite ridiculous in their pretensions to restrictive return policies.

It's taken me a while to reach this conclusion, because one likes to buy pretty shiny things and try them out, but a year ago I got four (4) Joyetech Ego-T's which are still working perfectly. Four in a hundred? I doubt it. My friends who put me onto vaping use Joyetech Ego-T's as well, and they tell me theirs last forever too.
