In terms of ohms/volts .. i get that VG needs more heat etc. to get a good vape. I'm wondering is it generally the case that you guys use higher ohms (2.4) for VG ? and 1.8ohm/lower volts works better with PG? I've swapped in some 1.8 attys and have had pretty gunky / burny experiences with some VG.. Combo seems to do well with lighter juice. It could be i'm just having wicking issues or other ejuice anomalies but curious what the general consensus was for your smooth working setups.. do you keep separate rigs for vg and pg? and what works volt/ohm wise with which types of juice?

appreciate any input, thx :smokie:

This will get all sorts of different responses. In my opinion it is the flavoring that causes, what i like to call, coil killers. The more flavoring or the more complex juices will gunk up a coil fast. I am still trying to pin down the flavors that gunk up and kill my coils. I am a rebuilder and use full or near full VG juices. I also use mechanical mods and create sub ohm coils (not recommended for beginners). With a VV and at 1.8 using VG juices, I would hit it at 4.2-4.5 volts easy. It also depends on what wire is used, how many coils there are and the gauge. Thin wire and a complex or heavy flavoring will gunk up and kill that coil fast and I am assuming that you are using a manufactured coil and atty like a clearo or a carto. They usually break down fast with what I mentioned.

Hi EzFree

I am no expert but I generally vape a 50/50 pg/vg ratio, pg is thinner and gives more throat hit and less vapor and VG is thicker and gives less throat hit and more vapor.

Normally I will just add 2, for example if I have a 2.4 ohm head I will start at 4.4 volts and maybe adjust a little, but normally this works for me, on my twists or my vamo. Here is a link to a Voltage, resistance, ohm chart:

What matters is the amount of power going to the coil. 8 watts is still 8 watts regardless of what ohm/volts combo you have that equal 8 watts. The chart SASmith gives you a good general idea of what you should set things at. What kind of atomizers are you using anyways?

Different type of wicks, wick lengths, wick material, coil size, coil count etc to however play a part in how your vape experience will be with each type of juice. Pure VG juices just plain out dont wick very well because its so thick so you can either cut it with pg or distilled water so you wont get those burned/dry hits. Me personally I dont like to use pure VG juices in any kind of top coil clearo, I tend to use them uncut specifically in dual coil cartos or just drip them on an old 510 mesh atomizer. For everything else I just dont ever use anything below a 70/30 vg/pg mix and it seems to do well. Oh... and darker juices/flavors tend to be the ones that gum your coils up quicker.

So aside from the simple fixes (removing a wick or two from BCCs or putting an extra or larger hole in a cartotank) you would probably want to get separate atomizers for both types of juice.

Note: im lazy and dont rebuild anything.

Thanks the chart helps.. that is basically in line with what i've been finding.. removing the second wick in conjunction with an extra seal seems to cure most of the issues I've been having. but also keeping the voltage in check, as once i go too hot it spoils the wick and i need to re-clean. Certain juices are just a bit stubborn it seems ;)

to vicflow: using standard evod replacement heads 1.8 % 2.4 from MyVAporStore

Thx for the responses all!

It all depends on the atomizer you are using and it's wicking potential. I mix my juice at 80% VG. I build my coils at .5 ohms to 1.3 ohms, depending on which rba and style of build I am using. I vape my .5 ohm builds on a mechanical so that puts me in the 30 watt range of vaping. Obviously my rba has excellent wicking and air flow. A need requirement when vaping at this level. My higher ohm builds I either kick them on my mechanical at 15 watts or when using the Provari, I turn it up till I get an error code then dial it down .1 volts. This basically puts me at close to 15 watts max output on the Provari. Again the key to doing this is wicking potential and a good air flow.

Some of my rba's are finicky and my wick has to be just right with certain builds. I keep experimenting with the build till I find what works best for me at my vapping levels. Then I'll try something new just to see how it would work, if better, kewl beans, if not, try something else. I prefer my vape at least at he 15 watt level. Find it so much more juicy there. At 33 watts, with the right rba, it's more like vapping a milkshake. But it comes at a cost. You consume much more juice at that level, and suck tanks and batteries dry fairly quickly. Today I've gone through 3 18490's on my mech and 2 18650's on the Provari. Also have vaped about 16 ml of juice. But I have 7 batteries and a great charger, and I also DIY juice so that the cost of my juice is pretty reasonable.

Maintaining ones wick and coil is part of keeping a consistent vape. Today I had to re-wick the Aqua and dry burn the coil. Do this about once a week or when my wicking can't keep up or changing out flavors. Wash everything out with hot water too. Once your coils and wick start to gunk up, the resistance and wicking changes, and you can experience dry hits when this happens. Usually a sign that maintenance is due. I can put it off for a bit by opening up my juice control some more, on the rba's that have this feature, or turn down the power a bit and vape at lower watts till I've drained the tank and can service it.
