You don't have to buy, a Caravela/Nemesis/GP Paps/etc do you? How many affordable other mechs are there in the 50$ and under range? Many is there not?

The point is you want the caravela/nemesis/etc, so economically and intellectually the makers of these mech mods are pricing these "tubes" respectively since they are selling out quick with high demands are they not?

bashing counterfeits is as useless as supporting them....

But As I understand it Kia makes some good cars and some clones are very good- alot closer to the original that a Kia is to a BMW I mean the motor in a BMW is worth as much as a Kia. The clones are just taking advantage of the Popularity of a device its name recognition. I think the small original manufacturers should form some sort of legal pool and defend their trademarks and logos witch are patent-able.

The problem is, that since the authentic modders are charger more than many can or want to pay, it gives those folks the right to buy counterfeits...wait sorry, copies, cause, you know, copying someone's logo is ok and all.

Actually without a © their logo is "open source". Hell, even my coffee mug has a © on it!

Sell your stuff for a fair price, will ya?

You don't need to make a million percent profit!!!

    >SNIP<

You could sell your originals for half the price and still make a good profit.

    So... knock it off!!!

    Ok, I feel better now...:)

A good machinist in the US is paid $20-$30 per hour; the money's probably comparable in Germany or Austria, maybe less in Greece. Quality stainless steel doesn't machine easily and it dulls expensive cutting tools fairly quickly. A machine tool (lathe with milling capability) capable of producing the parts accurately and efficiently costs about $300,000 new. You also need business space, computers, phones, a shipping area, lots of stuff. Also a business license, insurance and maybe bonding.

That's how a legitimate manufacturing operation is set up, and it amounts to a lot of money up front before a single sale is made.

If you feel better now, it's because ignorance is bliss.

That's all true Max, but those costs are the same to produce 10 thousand units/month as they are to produce 10.

No intelligent company (or dumb) sells their product for their raw value. They sell through conceptual value.

American money after it has been taken off the gold standard is worthless. Literally. But we still use it because of it's perceived value backed by our government.

Another example.. Apple products have two bandwagons, the fanboys and the haters. Haters say Apple products are overpriced. But judging by Apple's sales figure, are they? Economists, or anyone that understand logics would obviously say no.

A product that took 5 hours to make by Picasso could sell for millions.
The very same product that took 5 hours to make as well, but made by someone named Billy will probably sell for a lot less.

Saying that these mech mods are ridiculously overpriced, when they are constantly sold out? No comment..

It's the entitlement generation. They can't afford a genuine mod or save for one, so blame the mod maker for not selling their product at the price the entitled feels it should be sold for...

The whole point of owning a for-proffit business is to make a quality product and sell it for as much as the market will tolerate. Given many mods sell out quickly, they are certainly not overpriced for the market...

why don't original designers have a serial number line made in house, and a non serial number line with outsourced manufacturing to china
that way they can cater to two markets.

Perhaps some of them actually care about having a quality product with their name on it, rather than one with PRC standards...

The company I work for has manufacturing facilities in China; but they only make off-brand products because corporate understands the value of our premiere line of products and reputation for quality. We do send off-spec products to China for re-work and sale to the grey market, but we run them through a de-marker first to remove the lay line...
