I'm looking into developing a slim and short e-cig. But I'm concerned about sacrificing too much mAh and thus duration. Would anyone really want a 100mAh battery? Or 50?

A 100mAh battery? Sure.
The l88b has that, and I still use the damn thing on occasion.
The thing is I'm pretty sure, from how cold the vapor is, that it uses a low voltage.
Would a more decent performer be able to cope with a 100mAh bat? You tell me.

Btw, RB37 has been using a 84mm e-cig which he (as a BMF user) hasn't put immediately aside, so it has to have some merits. It's some sort of new 8084 cartomizer and has a cool PCC.
(You can check is impressions on ECF if you search for "colibri")

What we need now is a Leaford touch on some sort of 84-90mm super mini. :)

I'm confused at what the appeal is to a slightly smaller bat? I was under the impression that your current small battery's were already pretty slim. I can't imagine a 100mah yet alone 50mah, the operating time would just be silly short. I guess as maybe a sidekick type battery that you only use in certain situations? Just seems like more work then necessary tho.

That's how I felt when I tried the 8mm E8. Setting aside the horrible quality, easy burning, and tasteless, TH-less liquid, I actually liked the feel and weight of it. Yes, Rift, both the battery and cartomizer durations were "silly short" but it was very comfortable and light weght to hold.

I understand the appeal and do intend to develop one. I'm more wondering how small will be too small? In terms of acceptable minimum battery and/or cartomizer duration.

is it possible to take the end from the travel pass-thru and stick a battery in it?

Well, sure, in theory, but I don't think a batt cell that short would even last 10 puffs. But I guess it's time for me to learn more about exactly how many mAh li-po batts get per mm. (OK, I know that's not exactly how it works, but it's close enough for my purposes ;) )

Good question. Another good one is whether they could have a high enough maximum and continuous discharge rates to not shorten their lifespan. Those are the kind of questions I have asked, and am waiting on answers for. Keep them coming, I'll add them to the list!

And of course it'll have the Leaford touch! I ain't out here just for my health, you know! :D

Oh i completely understand the appeal for small and lightweight form factor. But what do you get out of that if you have to carry so many batteries around with you because they die of quick? I guess I'm going under the assumption less is more but some people may not have a problem carrying around 5 batteries.

Along with a shorter capacity and thus "vape time" per charge, you've also got a shorter charging time, so if you have a PCC, this is usually not a problem.
Of course the number of charging cycles you then subject the batteries to shortens their overall lifetime. That's one drawback.

well it would be great for a keychain/ emergency PV. and maybe it will be small enough to keep RB happy.

If you could make a PCC to go with it that would charge several at a time, it might have a lot of appeal. I'm thinking of a PCC roughly the size of a pack of cigarettes that could charge & hold, say 5 or so ultra-mini's & also hold about 5 cartos.

Sure, If you can cope with the radiation ;)

OK, I admit I have no clue about the technology that goes into these things

But I do think it would be an innovative product, one that Bloog could be capable of. After all, Bloog brought us the Trifecta, which as far as I know is the first truly versatile kr808d-1. I think if anyone could take "fat batt" technology & stuff it in a standard kr808d-1, it would be Bloog.
