Hi,

Ok, "may be stupid question time" :)...

I bought a 306 atomizer that was on sale, just to try dripping:

306 2.5ohm Atomizer

but I didn't realize at the time that the drip tips for the 306 atomizers are different from the 510 ones and go around the outside(?) of the 306 atomizers?

As I said, this was just to try things out, so I was wondering if it's ok/safe to use this atomizer without a drip tip?

It should be arriving today or tomorrow, and I know that I'd hate having to wait for a separate order for a drip tip to arrive!!

Thanks,
Jim

It really isn't possible without some kind of cover/tube. If your atty comes with a cover, something like the one pictured, you could temporarily use it, but only if you slice off the top. Here's a better picture of just the atty for you:

BTW, 306's are known for good flavor....so it's worth picking up a 306 drip tip with your next order. Here's what they look like in Delrin:

I've cut off the top and used -- but is really is Temporary. Save Paper is correct, it can easily melt, especially if one takes long draws and melting plastic is not good vape. :p

The hole at the top is totally insufficient for getting any type of vapor through it as it is way too small.

Best to get a delrin, acrylic or glass one ASAP.

Tipless on an RDA is like "tailpiping" on a 510, I believe. With tailpiping, there is a Pipe/tube! Big Difference. This is a 306 atty and it would be more like using your RDA without any sleeve/chimney on it, Mr. SubOMG.

Subomg-- I suspect you are not doing this without the chimney/cover/tube (or whatever you call it).

It will work. My brother and I have found that during cloud competitions it's always favorable to go "tipless" so to speak. With a dripper, this enables you to take full advantage of the gaping tip hole at the top. Just throw your mouth over what you can and inhale; don't even worry about making a seal. Trust me on this one

Pics or it didn't happen.

Cheers

You'd be surprised

I would be. 306s are my preferred atty and they cannot be used without a drip tip.

I watched your video. Very nice clouds, but you didn't show the atty. I would like very much to see you put a hot 306 directly in your mouth without a drip tip. Please make another video with a close-up of the atty right before you use it.

Showing off big clouds is one thing, but I would be much more impressed if you would do your homework before passing off incorrect information.

Fire up this puppy and show me some clouds. Don't back out by saying you modded it. You just told a New Member to do something that could injure them. I want to see you eat this atty while it's hot.

ETA: I only "liked" your post so you would come back read mine.

RoseB,

Yes, I'm glad I asked :)!!

Tearose,

That cover already has a small hole at the end, I think. Would that work temporarily?

No. It will melt. It's not delrin. DO NOT try it.

It will work. It's not delrin, but neither is any blank cartridge designed to hold a filler and be used with any atty either. I used a blank 306 cartridge for nearly a week before my drip tips arrived in a different order. It didn't melt and I still have my face. So neener.

The OP's problem with this type of blank cartridge is it's one piece. Unless you have a needle tip bottle you will have to either enlarge the mouth piece hole or cut that end off completely.

There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers. I am very glad you posted this before you trusted the wrong information and got burned. Below is how to use a 306. Sorry the text is blurry, I had to reduce the image, but you get the idea.

True, but I bet you looked silly. :) I don't know why they make the covers look like old cigarette filters.

I never look silly. But my Vmod XL looked pretty stupid. That didn't keep my from trying that 306 atty though. At least with a bottom feeder I didn't have to modify the cartridge for use.

Seriously, they don't make these cartridges in two different versions, like a lightweight "packing material only" version and the real, heat resistant model meant to be used as a filled cartridge. C'mon - it's a 306 atty, not a sub ohm IGO. It's not going to melt.

Short term it will work. Not ideal, but nothing that cannot be overcome to start using that atty.
