OH one more thing I have learned which may have already been posted in this thread I don't doubt myself at this point lol

I tried the drill bit method of wrapping the coil for my first one and it worked. Now I am using a q-tip. I cut off the ends with cotton place the q-tip in the hole for the SS wick and wrap my wire around it 4/5 times then pull the q-tip out and place the SS wick in. This is my preferred method so far. I saw it on a thread probably the one I tried to link to many times it was ghosting out on me so I am not linking it again to save everyone the drama of my many attempts of correction. It is on post #55 on this thread. :p

thanks again for that link! finally got mine up and running at 2.5ohms no hot spots no "band-aids" etc!

Thank you so much for all of this! Gonna be great info when I get my AGA-T2

General question, when wrapping the coil on the wick. How do you know how many wraps you need to do to get that desired ohm rating?

Do you know what Ω you would like to vape at?
Do you own a multimeter, or an APV that gives atty readings?
I would go "middle of the road" and use 30g. A 5/6 wrap gets me 1.6 - 1.9 Ω.

Other people can chime in on what gauge vs wraps they use to get a given Ω.

Yet again, another helpful post! thanks

Well I've vaped on a 1.5ohm dct and a 2.4ohm vivi nova. Im not sure how to differentiate between the 2, it seems the same to me? Im still a newbie to vaping. My style of vaping is vapor production/throat hit > flavor. So does that mean I need to go to low resistance (1.5ohm) or a standard/high res ? (2.0-3.0)

Got 4/3 wrap 32ga kanthal giving me 1.7ohms right now vaping around 4.2 volts/~10-11 watts.

Cool man, so if I get 32ga kanthal wire, and wrap it 3 to 4 times around the wick, I should be looking at around 1.7ohms or so? Lets say I use that same 32ga wire and wrap it 5 times instead of 3-4 will that give me more than 1.7 or less than 1.7? Im going to be using it on a vamo and its min. ohm is 1.2 so I want to be around 1.5-2.0ohm

If you add an extra wrap the ohms will go up perhaps to 2.0 or 2.2. For me, the perfect wrap on these clones is 3/4 with 32 Kanthal and vaping between 3.5-4 V at 1.4-1.8 Ohms. More wraps DOES NOT produce more vapour. (Kinda like the golf swing). You need to match the burn to the amount of juice your wick can absorb through capillary action.

Enjoy

Depends on what PV and battery you are using. I would stay in the 1.5Ω to 2Ω if you have a high drain Li-Mg (IMR) battery and PV that handles it. And 2Ω to 2.5Ω if you have a standard Li-ion battery.
30g 5/6 wrap is similar in Ω to 32g 3/4 wrap.

4/5 wrap number means that on the outside you will have 5 completed loops and on the inside you will have 4.
If you start and end on the same side, you will have one less complete wrap on the start/end side than the outside.

Is there any difference with a 5/6 wrap 30g and a 3/4 wrap 32g?

Thanks man, i made the order of the AGA-T2 last weekend, and ordered in my kanthals/ss mesh from the ebay links posted above. Hopefully receive everything this week and rebuild it over the weekend, cant wait!

What PV do you plan to run it on? And don't get frustrated, it will happen. Some people (my self included) were able to set it up pretty well the 1st time, with others it takes more time figuring it out. This thread and especially this one http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...nyone-tried-aga-tiamat-plus-w-glass-tank.html contain all of the info you need. But ask questions if you run into problems.

I rolled my first wick and wrapped my first coil a couple of days ago from the little bit of wire and mesh supplied with the AGA.

Before attempting to fire it, I put it on my Ovale V8 and tested for the ohm reading. 1.8 ohm, not bad for a first coil, I thought to myself. I then put it on the Provari to double check it. E error. So there was a short somewhere.

I started to make adjustments to the coil and the wire broke between positive post and the wick. I'm not sure if that was the location of the original short or not, but the remaining wire from the AGA kit looks pretty frazzeled and I don't even want to make another attempt with another coil using that.

I made an order today for more mesh and wire and will attempt another coil when the supplies come.
