I've used plenty of cotton over the last bunch of years,Cotton knitting yarn from Wally World, cheese cloth, cotton balls from Dolarrama and for the last bit I've been using Scheido cotton (the most expensive yet @12 or so dollars for 160 squares) from the pharmacy.

They all work well. The Scheido cotton for me is easiest to work with, peel off the outer layers of a square, cut a strip off twirl up an end and through the coil it goes.Easy Peasy...

I may end up trying out some rayon when the scheido cotton is running low.

So far so good,I don't mind cotton at all! :)

I have one thought, when we smoked, did we ask as many questions about what is in it or what the filter was made of? So in that mentality, does cotton really matter?, I mean we know how tobacco companies work, I'm doubting they are that worried about the quality of filter material.

Not making any excuses or anything, just saying, lol.

I wondered what was in my cigs and the filter materials when I smoked. I ended up rolling my own with specific tobacco that was clean and had way less additives than a pack of cigarettes, and used a certain brand filter. I found it made a huge difference in taste aand the way i felt over time. I still got packs from time to time, and I could always tell a big difference in it and always started coughing up stuff after a store bought pack.

My take on it all.....i first heard about a vape technique nose to lung on the forum here. I realize it was only a half serious comment but i had to go try it. More than 5 times. Ive also heard of using the rayon in tampons for wicking material several times here now. So im gonna try it. I just have one question. Do i use new ones or is it ok to rinse and dry a used one?

What matters is that you get the vape you like. Cotton balls, Drug Store cotton, Koh Gen Do, Egyptian Cotton, Mesh, Rayon, or whatever is best for your taste is fine. They all work.

I still have remnants of all it in my vape stash cabinet. If necessary, I'l twist up some cotton if I run out of Rayon.

Years ago before ... cotton or rayon was around, used cvs sterile cotton and it worked really good .....never liked the idea of boiling cotton, to me it seems even more dangerous.

Me too. Wasn't even organic.
I used a Provari and I carried an 18650 battery case with 2 18490s in it and a cotton ball and a coil in the extra space.
Those were the days. :D

Surprised I haven't seen more people mention the 'ole Peaches and Cream yarn.
There was a time if it had the word 'cotton' in it, someone was trying it. Even when 'cotton' was followed by the word 'like'. lol
Not me though.

People were even robbing toasters and hair dryers for wire.
Those were the days when we could live on the edge without fear of being a demonizing sound bite on the evening news. :(

I heard they used to be made of fiberglass,...

Oh, you mean like silica?

(Which was mostly being used before strain and the microcoil.)

And had the convo with sXd gone the other way as we were debating best wicking for tensioned micro's just before he introduced KGD (I favored popularizing Jeremy's ceramic for flavor, ease of insertion and fit, he exclusively used straight VG at the time)…

Well, you might most of you be using ReadyXwick (I relented after a couple'a three calls as he was kind enough to touch base with me before shooting his KGD video recommending it on the t.m.c.).

Shortly after a certain VIVA paper towel proponent famous for a copycat thread introduced a hybrid synth/org alternative deprecating forever our beloved pharmacy bought common cotton balls.

True this, sall good.

Good luck. :D
