I started smoking in high school. I guess that would be around 1980-81. In that 30+ years I quit twice, for around 6 months each. Now I'm a vaping newbie hoping to kick it once and for all. Waiting for my first starter kit to arrive in around 3 days. Wish me luck.
After researching and much review reading I decided on what seems to be the common approach to this whole vaping thing. Start with a mini for a while (cost effective start).
I decided on the SI Volt. Hope it's a good choice. Want to (eventually) get into dripping and it seems that they have a good option with their clearomizers. Maybe someone has some advice on where to go from there. Actually any advice would be cool. I'm kinda on a budget and want to get the most "bang for my buck".

How heavy of a smoker were you?

Not just in terms of how many ciggs you smoked a day, but in how big a pull you were taking of a cig, and how deeply you were inhaling.

I'm new here myself, and if theres one thing I wish I had known right off...I wish I had known the differences of actual vapor delivered by devices in any loosely catagorized way - 808/cig-alike devices vs larger cig-alikes 808/510 vs eGo type devices etc, and the longevity they could produce that level vapor for before being noticable lessened by battery discharge.

I mean...there are so many variables, accurately catagorizing what kind of smoker you were, IMO, is necessary to get you into a battery/cart/tank/juice combo that fills the void left by analogues.

It really was for me anyway. If I'd have known what I know now, I'd have never messed with the 808-style cig-alikes at all.

A few tips for a new vaper: draw slowly; hitting it like a cig will not work. hold the vape in your mouth for 10 seconds or longer. exhale through your nose. Give the nicotine time to get to your system. You won't ever feel that flood of nicotine that Big Tobacco perfected over the last fifty years or so. I mention these, because they really helped me in the beginning. :)

Welcome! The volt is well regarded here. They don't work for everyone, but they are a good company.
If you're on a budget, I would humbly suggest that you track your vaping vs. smoking expenses. If you exercise some self control, you will easily save money by vaping. (Unlike me - I'm still over $300 in the hole, but I would have paid that to quit smoking.) :) If you do that, when it's time to upgrade, you can easily justify dishing out the cash.

I was never "heavy" in the draw or deepness of my inhale until more recently. When I was younger, I was a 2 pack a day kinda guy. I've reduced the quantity but I guess I've noticed a bit of a deeper inhale.
Thanks for the little insight Jazzy. I will try to pay attention to that.
As far as dripping thanks to any who make recommendations. I will look into any suggestions. For now I think I really need the portability of the 808 style to keep me going during the day. Maybe gradually work up to the more advanced dripping. Don't think I need to do any heavy modding though.
What are ggts?

GG = "Golden Greek" - a well known company that makes PVs and high-end RBAs. Big following among fans. I'm not so big on the PVs, the some of the RBAs are legendary in my opinion. Fairly advanced stuff. You notice my signature makes reference to "Odysseus". It was originally made by GG. I've seen some of them sell used for over 200 dollars. I found a Chinese copy (Terminator) that is the best vaping device I've ever used.. and it's a cheap copy! For the record I don't recommend it to anyone unless you have some experience rebuilding RBAs. They can be a pain in the backside, but worth the trouble for me :)

Thanks for the welcomes. Not just new to vaping but blogging (or forum-ing) too. Looking forward to this new "adventure". Heard there were some great juices out there, just hoping that FDA doesn't shut down what seems to me a viable alternative to cancerous suicide. I guess I could deal with a little taxation but I think they should watch out. We've seen how too much "regulation" can feed black market mentality in this country. This needs to stay an open and available option for those who wish to get off the death sticks.

Don't worry about "where to go from there"... maybe what you got will be just the right thing for you. Give yourself a bit of time to try out what you've got and figure out what you do/don't like about it. Then ask, where to go... the are many options, but the first is getting off the analogs and we're always here to offer suggestions for to keep you off them. Congrats and welcome Greg.
