There have been box mods in the early days with 810 and other threadings, so it was a fair question for you to ask if it was 510 being that the OP's mod could very well be as old as 11 years or more.
Not quite that far behind, but I did start out on the 810s LOL.

Also, keep in mind the Z80 is an 18650 mod, so it takes an 18650 rechargeable battery, unlike your istick. That means you have to buy batteries and a charger.

Because of the looming USPS shipping ban on vaping products, making the availability of vape supplies difficult or even impossible for some, 18650 mods are the best option. But also bear in mind that you may want to consider getting more than you need if you can financially afford to. I don't want turn this into another stocking up thread or vape mail ban thread so I'll just leave it at that. Well, except to say that rebuildable tanks will be your salvation.

I've got some batteries And a charger already from an older setup.

Stupid question #2, what do y'all mean by rebuildable tank? I see the newer ones you replace the coil. Do it mean you replace the stuffing in the coil instead of tossing?
Yes. You have to wind and screw in the coil. Then, you have to thread the cotton or rayon wick (just right). We can tell you more if you're interested.

I use mouth to lung atomizers that suit me well.

That's okay, not wanting to mess with that.
Thanks for all your help! Got some good options already. Haven't really bought anything new except supplies in quite a while, so I'll probably get a couple new kits and see how it goes.

@WVvet - If you still like the Eleaf iSticks...there are vendors in the US who still sell the 20W, 30W, and 40W ones. (I'd stay away from the ones Central Vapors sells though, as they're mostly clones.) Also, several vendors have the original Zenith 4mL tank, some have the Zenith D22 3mL tank, and others have the Zlides in both sizes it comes in. You don't have to buy from vendors in China, and wait longer to get what you order.

Also, some US vendors have coupon codes, sales going on, etc. They have a good variety of mods that take internal batteries, as well as those that take external ones.

Hi WVvet! You've gotten some good advice here, so I'll just tell you that I also started with cartomizers and then carto tanks (11 years ago) and there really is no comparison--night and day. I love the entire Z line from Innokin (Zlide, Zenith and Z coils--my favorite ones are .8 and 1.6 Ohm ones) and that's all I use nowadays. I don't even rebuild anymore. You're in for a very pleasant surprise--just watch some videos first and don't forget to prime your Z coils well--they take some time to get fully saturated before the first use. After that, it's almost as easy as smoking.

    Good luck!

Yeah, don't get all caught up on today's terminology. Nothing has changed that much, except performance, taste and filling method has gotten a lot better. Fact is, a cartomizer on a carto tank is merely the same as a coil head (also referred to as "drop-in coil on ECF). Some screw in, some pop in, some drop in, but regardless it's all the same thing. Today's coils are merely just shorter than "cartomizers" and with organic cotton filler instead of that other cringy stuff they used to use.

Heck, even some coil heads are jut about as long as "cartomizers". Some innokin line of tanks, like Endura and Prism, take coil heads that resemble old school "cartomizers".

Here's a prism tank and it's coil head.

If you can afford it, get one of each of those Innokin kits. Also, since you have a charger, get a couple new batteries too (assuming you have 18650 type) That way you have one mod for the external batteries and one mod with built in battery (and two tanks) They both take Z coils (very popular, available, affordable and many choices) I like the 0.8 coils for MTL and the 0.3 ohm for restricted DL but you sound like you would like the 1.6 ohm coils (but try a few 0.8 coils too) Just curious... what is the VG/PG ratio of the juice you use?

Like you, I am used to 'old school tech' 6 or 7 years old verses 11 but feel your pain.

Lots of modern tanks are exactly that. Buy (or wind) a naked coil then stuff it full of your choice of wick. Coils last far longer than the wick which is easily replaced when needed. Approximately as often as you change disposable ones... And much cheaper! Much, much cheaper if you can tolerate rayon instead of cotton. Life time supply for you (and ten friends) for $15.

Not suggesting you search them out, but there were a few tanks that could do both. Take a disposable coil or put in the 'build deck' and use a re-wickable coil.

Dexterity seems to be the main issue. The Apire was giving me that.

Yeah, that's the unfortunate part. That and eye sight. There are some really easy to coil and wick rebuildable tanks out there, like the Kayfun 5 and Kayfun Prime, but if you have sight & dexterity issues, even if you buy prewound coils, it can be a challenge or impossible to mount the coil and wick for some. I have a problem with eyesight, but I get by with a really bright light right next to my deck...for now.
