OK. I am putting together a kit for my son, so he will have no excuse for going back to smoking once he gets out. I assumed that he will want nic, just for emotional stuff. I got 120 ml of 36 mg nic, and he has a barely touched bottle of 12 mg that I bought for myself. He also has maybe 1 ml of clove, 12mg. He has three egos, one of them very used. He has some 808 stuff that I gave him earlier, including some nano clearos and an 808 to 510 adaptor. Chargers, and so on.

I got him a CE5, but I think he will want bottom coils. Since no vendor seems to have the cheaper bottom coils right now, I can use the CE5 for myself, and sacrifice a few of the bottom coils I have been using for him, and order more for myself when they are back in stock. I am sure he will want to play mad chemist. I need to stop by wal-mart and get him some needleless syringes.

He gets out on the 6th, and leaves for his father's place on the seventh, so if I have to order anything, it should be NOW.

Since he will be taking the plane, I need to get some plastic bags to seal up for stuff.

Good idea, but I want his kit items to be quality, but inexpensive. I did check out Smokeless Image. Hopefully he will be more organized than he was-- LOL. Many things unsaid, here. I could make him a lanyard!! I am at Mad Vapes now. Their price is 10c more than my usual vendor for the RBC. In color. I guess they don't have any coupon codes (nothing that would work at retailmenot) OK. I have 31 reward points!! Getting ready to hit the button.

Basically just ordered to replace what I am giving him from my stuff. Now will have to find some Christmas giftwrap. LOL

VOLTSAVE got me 16% off at smokelessimage.com, last time I shopped there.:) According to their last email, madvapes only has liquids on sale and no coupon code. :(

Well, maybe not so much need as get it by default! Maybe you can find an OS "downgrade" to 7!

Not to get into techbits here.. but windows 7 seems to have some issues with the AMD fx processors. So its a necessity im afraid if i stay a amd user ;) They work on win7 but not optimal. U wont notice it while browsing but in games ever frame matters ;)

Is the floppy in my hand the one I just took out, or waiting to go in... :vapor::vapor::vapor::vapor::cool:

But I don't miss 3.1 at all. XP was good, 7 is better. 8 is, I suppose, fine if you have a touch screen, but not something I'll be going to any time soon. Rumor control central is now talking about the next iteration (2015... ish.... ) maybe coming in touch and non-touch varieties.

I did tech for a nonprofit and at one point was in the habit of setting up new pcs five or six at a time by having them spread out on a desk made out of a long countertop. I'd start at one end and when I took the first disk out of the first system and put the second one in I'd slide down to the next system and put the first disk in it, and so on down the line. It must have looked strange to anyone going by my office, but it was efficient and actually made it easier to keep track of where I was at. I just had to be sure to put them back in the case in order at the end of the line.

I can't say that I like Windows 8 yet, but I'm loving having the touchscreen on a snazzy new high powered laptop. Though for just sitting here chatting the kindle is still easier to hold onto. Our high speed internet is broadcast from the water tower. Not quite as much fun to tell people about as at the old house where the same company broadcast from the top of a grain elevator.:D

The speed is actually very good -- better than DSL, though probably not as good as some cable systems. The big deal about it is that it is available, and nothing else is. The first two years after we moved back up to rural North Dakota from Minneapolis we could only get dialup, and that was pure torture.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. We are suppose to get freezing rain this morning and tomorrow my son is golfing because it is suppose to get up to 65 degrees. Geez what weather we are having here. I can't wait til spring so I can dig in the dirt or something fun. Hugs to all.

Well hello, Rat2!

So this is where you been hangin'? Haven't seen you on the Front Porch lately. Yeah, the weather has been crazy this winter hasn't it?

It snowed here this year, on a Tuesday I think. Didn't fully melt at our house until ~Friday. Two days later, Sunday, I was running around in the backyard in shorts, Dockers, and a T-shirt!

And in the "Learn something new every day" Department:

I just now learned a new term.

First we had-

Big Government
Big Pharma
Big Tobacco

and now we have-

Big Data!

While perusing Foxnews this morning, I came across this headline:

What Big Data knows about you -- and how to keep your info safe | Fox News

Of course, I haven't had my head in the sand all this time, I know what's going on these day, but really...

It's a jungle out there folks, watch your back.

When Dad's XP computer became dysfunctional late this past summer, the IT staff (at that moment my baby brother and me) declared the computer fried and convinced Dad to get a new CPU. Naturally, it was Windows 8.0.

Windows 8.1 is supposed to fix Windows 8.0 so that it's more like Windows 7, or at least that's what I read before downloading and installing 8.1.
I don't see where 8.1 does any such thing. Still no good old "Start" button as far as I can tell.

However, a free third-party program, startmenux.com, is doing a pretty decent job of imitating the functionality of previous MS Operating Systems.

Meanwhile, Dad heard me muttering about the PITB aspects of Windows 8 so he won't go near his new computer. For 5 months he's been saying "You're going to have to sit down with me and show me how to use that thing, tomorrow". His Generation 1 iPad has become the only thing he uses.

A top IT person, my sister, was passing through. Dad's XP computer hadn't made it to the trash yet, so she took it and got it fixed for $20 but hasn't mailed or brought it back yet. Who knew that a forgotten itty bitty Bluetooth thingie plugged into a USB port could cause a computer to go into an endless shut down/restart cycle? $20 for the repair person to take it out, a true bargain!

There's not a chance in the world that Dad will even LOOK at his new computer now that he knows he'll be able to use his old one. I'll probably take the new computer with me if my sister gets the old computer here before I head back to NC.

Anyway, just wanted to let you know about the Start Menu X program if you've got Windows 8 and feel the need to go back to the future. Make sure you decline any and all offered additional junk software if you download and install Start Menu X.

I used Ghost to prepare new PCs.....had the image on the network so it was accessible from anywhere. Old school!!!

I think I got started right around DOS 3.11 or somethng like that. I remember the big hullaballoo over 4.0, then 4.01, then on and on... but it seems not many really "get" DOS anymore -- not that they ever did! hehehehe

Ya'll can't imagine how rapidly I advanced in my civilian career by manipulating 'autoexec.bat' and 'config.sys'!!! Waaay back then, I was a mystic guru...

Since then, I've gained some weight, grew some hair and am down to four limbs...
