We have family and or friends with knowledge of Daytona also - that is why it is one of the areas on my list.

We originally were set on Tampa area, but after;looking at several that looked like they had severe settling problems and then learning about Tampa being the sinkhole capitol of the world - we changed our mind...

I was just thinking, between ncpatches, semi, iffy and myself we could populate our own little neighborhood. I'm looking for a large plot of land out in Loxahatchee, why don't I up it to around 10 acres and we all build our dream homes. We would each have a couple of acres so we wouldn't be in each others way. You can get an acre of land out there for around $20k and your only about 20 minutes from Deerfield Beach and Palm Beach. All the amenities right near by.

To far south for me. I plan on staying around middle to northern Florida - if it decides to start sinking - I want a quick escape route (LOL)...

I lived in Hollywood for about 20 years, now in Ocala. Howdy neighbor (s)!

Got relatives in that area also - my mothers side of the family are spread all over Florida - from West Palm Beach to the Pan Handle and almost every area in between.

Back in 2008 I found 12 acres with a 4 acre natural pond/stream, wooded, etc. outside of the Lake City area. I tried to get a few retiree/RV types to join me in setting up the perfect park for us and have a few spare spots to rent out to people traveling on I-10 or even I-75 for enough income to maybe pay upkeep of the place. I was going to buy the property and they would only be responsible for building their RV sites and making sure expenses were covered. I was even going to add in a Camp House that could be a backup storm shelter if rough weather came in. Could not find anyone interested - a few bites - but no takers - needed at least 5 and could not get one...The area was only a few minutes from the VA hospital, Jacksonville, etc.

Well, let's see - I also research Abilene, Houston, Angleton, and San Antonio - my wifes has relatives in Angleton and Abilene. Tornado alley most of them... Just like I thought of Oklahoma also...

I could probably start my own Retirement Website with all the areas I have researched - you gotta remember retirement is like vaping and flavors - every one's perfect one is different...

I grew up in Lake Worth. Lived in Live Oak and Orlando as an adult. Mom lives in Sebastian after being in WPB for 30+ yrs. Have no desire to be any further south than Sebastian. I'd like to find a spot in Ormand Beach, but it's expensive. Daytona's not bad, price wise, for older homes, just have to check out the neighborhood. City Data website is very helpful for that.

Raleigh area is just too expensive. Any place I can afford is in a neighborhood I wouldn't want to live in. I'm limited. Once I buy, I have to survive on SSD. Not easy. And I won't have much to spend to begin with. Having a slim budget is impossible here. My $$$ will go further in FL. I'd rather be in a restricted 55+ complex. It's quieter.
