Sounds like you guys spent a lot of time using those tools you collected to create the home you're comfortable in so it's understandable why you'd want to stay and enjoy it. Usually the reason people end up moving is because of taxes, or upkeep that they just can't handle anymore. Sometimes life makes the decision for you. So, I guess the answer is, if you like where you are, try to find a way to make it possible to stay. I envy people who have someplace they've always looked forward to retiring to. Sounds like Matt and Willie and Mike are already there. My problem is the house never has been the way I want it, but the area is comfortable. It's been fun raising kids here, but now it's just the 2 of us and it's a lot of house to worry about. The first floor is really all we need. Hmmm, maybe I just need a new kitchen. Sigh.

We're moving so Doree can be closer to her mom. It's the last move I plan on making. Hopefully I'll find a place we both can live with. We are looking in an area with lots of foreclosures from when the bubble burst and most every lot has a minimum of 1.25 acres.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

I remember my kids logging time on frogger... :)

I cleaned the copper contacts a couple of years ago and we played it for a few days with some of my old friends when they were in town. We were noisy - had as much fun with that old thing as any of these kids have with their modern Play Stations or Xbox's.

Doree and I will celebrate our 38th anniversary this September. I got married in 1979 in a lime green leisure suit. Two days before the ship was deploying to South America. Just the two of us, the judge and the judge's wife. Damn pants where so right that when I went to take the ring out of my pocket I dropped it and it rolled under the couch. I have a picture of the judge and my butts as we crawled under the couch looking for it!

Yes - I remember Atari but in the early 70's when they were introduced I was hanging in bars not playing frogger. Are you sure you're old enough to be on the porch?

He is. We had one that we played frogger and missile command on together when we were first married in 1979.

Congrats on 38 years - that is fantastic. :toast: My Prom Leisure Suit was baby blue and I also still have one that is canary yellow. I have been told to put them on Ebay since Disco is coming back. ;)

Now I like the Pickers.

Yepper, I enjoy da Pickers. Just da other day they had a show where an older gal said, "I still have the memories" after da boys bought several mementos.

An individual piece will bring back the same memories - you don't need every little piece.

Helpful Hints for Organizing, Dummies.com
Use the W-A-S-T-E technique.

Are you consumed by clutter? Deciding what to pitch or keep is simple if you work through those questions, and be honest:

W = Worthwhile? Do you truly like the item?
A - Again? Will you use it, really?
S - Somewhere else? Can it be borrowed or found somewhere else if you need it?
T - Toss? Will the world end if you get rid of it? Could someone else be helped?
E - Entire? Do you need the whole thing or just part of it?

DO NOT DO THIS TO THEM!

Amen!

Well some of my child stuff I suppose is now in the collectables category. Here's a couple, I have some more of these stashed away. I'd have a lot more of them if I listened to my Dad. I wasn't supposed to play with these. Dad made a shadow box display that hung on the wall. I was only supposed to 'look' at them. But kids are kids and I'd sneak them out of the house. Some never made it home again. Geez - they were toys and I was a kid.

Anyone remember when Match Box cars actually came in a little wooden match box.

Not really. Best I can do is a small box with a cellophane window.

We have a 16 ft cargo trailer we used to use for our business. We have been good at cutting the dead weight from our products but...

That trailer is now a storage shed. I grew up in Chicago (well, southern suburbs) and the Tribune newspaper's mascot was this big orange dog Cuddly Duddly. One year they gave a big stuffed one with a subscription (don't remember I was pretty young). Found him in the trailer. Googled- pristine condition worth $1500+, mine is not pristine but still worth (worth whatever someone will pay you for it) -selling for $400-$500. Needless to say, hubby gave Cuddly Dudley permission to live in the house (spare bedroom but in the house)!!!

When we moved here we got rid of a bunch of "stuff". I want no clutter - I don't want to have to clean it or clean around/under it. But man, it still accumulates.

Why the handle "Rotowoman" .. ?? :) .. you'll find if you hang around here, I sometimes ask stupid questions .. ;)

There's no such thing as a stupid question (Well, maybe sometimes) However, that is not a stupid question. I work around helicopters on my job, hence the moniker "Rotowoman". My real name is Debra. I've been called other assorted names in my lifetime, but most folks call me Deb. :D

As Rick (Pawn Stars} would ask, selling for or asking price?

Hey, who's side are you on?

Yea - what he said - you're not helping.

You must be one of those youngin's hanging around the porch too. I'm sure the value would increase remarkably if I had any of the original boxes. 2legs said he saw them valued decently on the Pawn Stars - he's now got me wondering if one of 'em is worth a KFL V4?

Haw - She pulls things out of the trash after I have thrown them in the dumpster - worse than me - well now she is... It is another of the reasons that this downsizing is taking so long - agreeing on what is memorable and what is not.

Mike does that too!! i've thrown the same thing out multiple times! I normally won't throw anything of his away, but one time it was a desperate situation. I bought him a new bathrobe once because his was so worn you could easily see right through the backside of it. He wore the new one just fine so one day I stuffed the old one in the bottom of the garbage bag before he took it out to the trash can. A couple months later he asked where his old one was...

Exactly! But now I get to clean around him. Would love to sell him not just give him away. But one of these days I can see him going to some needy cause if it would help.
