I understand there has recently been a.big crackdown on pain meds. A friend's son almost cut his thumb off the other day and although they stitched it up and should be OK they could not give him any decent pain meds due to new restrictions. This was in PA.

Now that really is ignorant...

Alright - last night there was some talk of mobility chairs/scooters. I just bumped into this one today. I thought it was pretty cool and it's compatible with quite a number of standard wheelchairs. But obviously they ain't cheap. About $2K for the one in the video.

It also comes in 2 manual versions and battery assisted manual version. The vendor:

Rio Mobility Firefly™ - the attachable Electric Handcycle that transforms your manual wheelchair into a motorized tricycle.

I just do not see $2k in that - maybe $800 - 900, but $2k is just to high - they are not figuring on many sales so they are trying to recoup everything up front.

List of things predicted to rise in price in 2015 .. Girl Scout Cookies, Olive Oil, Coffee (oh, the humanity) .. Chocolate, Avocados, Beef and Pork, and last but certainly not least .. Bourbon .. so within my budgetary constraints, I will be stocking up on Bourbon and Coffee, since I must prioritize ..

Although to offset the price risers, the following are predicted to go down .. Gas, Butter, Cranberries, Smartphones .. so, as the owner of a full size truck that does well to get 16 MPG with a good tail wind .. the gas price drop will help subsidize my addiction for Tagalongs, Samoas and Do Si Dos .. I will go on record as not being a Thin Mints Fan ..

Coffee... chocolate...

What with all the typing about collections, I see that I'll have to start collecting those...

Uh, UW, what about Scotch??

I will offer my apology in advance, Janet .. although I'd be happy to have you as a sister, I must side with my bro Mike on this issue .. while I agree that your Kindergarten artwork and first diaper may be a bit much .. ;) .. the tactile feel of some things saved over the years is both a comfort and a time capsule of a life lived .. My personal guitar collection numbers around 30 (which may sound excessive to many, however, is really quite a small collection compared to some folks) .. and it goes back to one of the few I owned back in the 1960's that did not end up in a Pawn shop in order to feed an addiction ..

Using your "list" I would only qualify for : W = Worthwhile? Do you truly like the item? .. and, as we all know, a person can only play one Guitar at a time as well .. then add in the related and associated equipment that goes with .. the gear, IOW .. and suddenly, you have a room full of stuff ..

My final question would be your opinion on Womens Shoes .. ?? ;) ... while I feel sure we have no Imelda Marcos here (or maybe we do) .. ;)

Aww Willie, I'll let you be my brother. Just keep your stuff on your own side of the house! Ha Ha!

As for shoes, I'm no Imelda Marcos! My practical side would never allow that! I've got about 8 pair (including boots) that last me for all seasons, dress and casual. That reminds me, there's a few pair taking up space that I haven't worn since I retired. Time to get rid of them. I mostly don't even like shopping. I know, I'm a freak of nature. Wait, I do like to shop in kitchen stores... If I hit the lottery I'm going to need a bigger kitchen! You can have the rest of the stuff.

Good Afternoon, sorry I didn't get a chance to check in this morning. Looks like Doree and I are going to have to go back to VA sooner than planned. Went to fill my pain script this morning and they won't fill it because it's not on tamperproof paper. Law says it has to be. Not in VA I guess. Called my doctor and ask her to FedEx me a new script on the right paper and she said she couldn't. Law won't let her send scripts out of state. So now I have no choice. Gotta go home to VA before I run out so I can refill. Wasn't planning on going back to VA for a couple of weeks, now we are heading home this coming Thursday. :-\

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

That really sucks. What if you couldn't get back to VA?

I doubt the plan or any of your plans will work - Not Until You Learn Not To Post Them On The Same Forum That Janet Reads... :2cool:

Oh, but he's made great strides these past couple of years! And truth be told, we're both happier not having so much stuff around. He can even find stuff he's looking for! Used to be we couldn't get either of our cars into our 3 car garage. Now he's very happy to have both of them in there. There's even enough room to open the doors! (we did have a car in there once, but it was kind of awkward having to climb out the back) And for Christmas I got him a garage door opener so he doesn't even have to get wet anymore. :)

Hey Matt, what if you went to the ER and told them about your pain. Have your doc send the ER your history and have the ER doc write you a Rx for your usual meds? Just an idea.

What about all these electronic records everybody is supposed to be transferring to now? Our docs in PA have been doing everything electronically these past few years and we just got an email telling us how to access our own records. Our Rx's are electronically sent to the pharmacy. No paper involved, but it's probably different for your class of meds. My sister in FL has had her records online for years. She shows up at a new doc, they go online and pull up her records including test results which I would assume includes her medication records. You'd think they'd tell you if that was possible, but sometimes you have to make a pain out of yourself and keep asking questions until they decide to actually pay attention to you and actually think about how they could help you.

I'll tell you Matt, being a woodworker myself, when I went thru the move / not move bit, as trivial as it may sound to some, the tool issue was a big issue .. I've spent probably 30 or more years gathering, organizing and arranging .. and, I am a Home Theater buff as well, with a theater that contains a 7.2 surround system and 120" projection screen / projector .. I found it next to impossible to come close to any place I might buy that would not require a substantial investment in time, energy and materials in order to come close to matching what I currently have ..

In addition, I essentially gutted my current home over the years .. Tuscan Kitchen with full Italian tile and custom Maple cabinetry, main bath with full Italian tile and a whirlpool tub .. 7' cedar stockade privacy fence, 3 level back deck .. one year, I went so far as to rip out the flat ceiling in the living / dining areas, cut the ceiling joists out, reinforce the rafters and create a Cathedral ceiling with skylights .. I'm not trying to toot my own horn here, and I did most all the work myself, but I would be lying if I did not say a part of my choice to stay put was all this and the years it took to get done .. like you said, just where I want it .. I put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into it until my home became an extension of my personality, if that makes any sense ..

You and others here that are in the process of any relocation I believe all have a life partner to consider, which, had I been in those shoes, may have made a difference for me .. at the end of the day, it's a tough thing to do, especially at many of our ages .. and I admire those that have or will do it ..

Sounds like heaven! You'd have to pry me out of there! And I'd have kicked the 2am realtor to the curb. Quick!

My wife doesn't like shopping either. You know I think you would like her, seems like the two of you have a lot in common.

Told me to find a doctor down here. I think she thinks we've moved already. There is a VA hospital in West Palm Beach. Of course I could probably go to one of the pill mills they have down here.

It's not really a problem just a major inconvenience. We were planning on returning to VA on the 13th anyway, just means we have to return a week earlier. Just sux that the laws are so messed up but, thinking about it, there are some problems with these drugs and government is doing its knee jerk best to figure it out. Did I just say that?!?!

Sounds like your garage used to look like my garage looks like now - I am using it as my sorting center - one side to sell/give away and the other side still needs to be gone through. But, my garage is totally clean in the house we moved out of (first time in 12 years). :D

You should see how much my daughter has laid claim to - she does not have a place yet, but has already laid claim to enough to furnish it... And I get to store it until she finds a place (that is what Daddy's are for I guess?)... ;)
