Howdy all! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas.

Got home Monday from Atlanta and have been hanging out with my 8 year old grandson so haven't been on much, just wanted to say hi

Welcome home Tater! Glad you had a good Christmas. Here's wishing you a Great New Year!

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

So, everyone want to share how they plan on bringing in the New Year?

We are going to watch a movie, play games and have hot wings with other snacks. Nothing big - plan on having a peaceful night with together time...

I'm going to bed when I get tired. If I make midnight then it was meant to be, if not, it wasn't! I got over the celebration part a few years ago. New Years Eve is amateurs night. People who don't really drink all year long go out and get pie eyed, then try to drive home while everybody prays they don't kill themselves or anybody else. Decided long ago that I didn't need to participate in that. I'll just leave the free taxis to others. Doesn't mean that I don't wish everybody here a joyous and prosperous new year! Happy New Year everybody!!!!

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Sounds like your garage used to look like my garage looks like now - I am using it as my sorting center - one side to sell/give away and the other side still needs to be gone through. But, my garage is totally clean in the house we moved out of (first time in 12 years). :D

You should see how much my daughter has laid claim to - she does not have a place yet, but has already laid claim to enough to furnish it... And I get to store it until she finds a place (that is what Daddy's are for I guess?)... ;)

You know how they say the more closets you have the more you need? It's so true! We have a 3 car garage and a full basement so at one time we had stuff stored from several family members. Then our kids grew up and moved out and we had all their stuff too! Couldn't park cars in the garage and had trouble finding a path through the basement. One year we designated the 3rd garage bay to anything we wanted to get rid of. Then we called an auctioneer. He hauled it away and after the auction we got a nice check. Talk about a win-win situation! That was great. We're still using Mike's parent's dining room set. I can see our house as a staging area for when our son finally gets his own place. They're in a tiny apartment now, but will have to find a bigger place by Spring now that the baby is here. Once he knows where they're moving to I'm sure we'll be studying Freecycle and Craig's List for furniture. I'm glad we've got the room to do it for them.

Welcome home Tater. Isn't it nice to be able to spend time hanging out with your grandson. We're going to hang out with ours too, but he's only 20 days old so he's not going to be doing much.

We've been to our share of NY parties so we're just going to spend a quiet evening at home this year. I think it was 2 years ago we went to our cousin's house and we all sat around the TV when it came time for the ball to drop. It dropped, we all looked at each other and said, well, there it is, happy new year, now we're going home to bed. What a couple of old farts we've turned out to be!

Doc didn't even get on the phone to discuss it. I am going to have a little discussion with her when I get home. She has been treating me for over 10 years and I've been at bthe practise for 20. They have made some changes lately that I am not real happy with and this just ...... me off. Now I understand that the feds are coming down hard on schedule ii drugs and doctors prescribing them but, there had to be some way that she could have helped me. I'm a little .......

You know I very much hope you can work it out without an early trip home .. and I agree with what others have said about the knee jerk Uncle Sam reaction .. at the same time, it's the faction of the population that abuses, attempts to profit and play the system that generally causes these sort of crackdowns .. hell, there are areas you have to get a script to buy Sudafed, facryinoutloud .. and even if no script is required, you're still expected to present your ID and get entered into a database .. and then, if it's discovered you are buying whatever might be considered an "excessive" amount, guess what .. ?? Somebodies gonna come a knockin' ..

.. the term "Orwellian Nightmare" keeps popping into my head ..

I suppose anything is collectable - let's see I have a collection of can's of spray paint int the shop. Naw - probably ain't the same as designer nail polish. OTOH - if I throw those away I cold score points w/ Janet as part of my learning process to throw things away.

Danggggg .. and I thought I was the only one with a spray paint collection .. ;)

    Coffee... chocolate...

What with all the typing about collections, I see that I'll have to start collecting those...

    Uh, UW, what about Scotch??

I can't say on Scotch, but I did read Bourbon may end up requiring Rationing Coupons / Stamps (seriously, some distilleries may limit purchases to distributors .. since the aging process takes a while to bring a batch to market and the new trend of Hipster cocktails has begun to deplete the stock) .. the good news is it has a very long shelf life, so stockpiling is only limited to your wallet size .. ;)

Aww Willie, I'll let you be my brother. Just keep your stuff on your own side of the house! Ha Ha!

As for shoes, I'm no Imelda Marcos! My practical side would never allow that! I've got about 8 pair (including boots) that last me for all seasons, dress and casual. That reminds me, there's a few pair taking up space that I haven't worn since I retired. Time to get rid of them. I mostly don't even like shopping. I know, I'm a freak of nature. Wait, I do like to shop in kitchen stores... If I hit the lottery I'm going to need a bigger kitchen! You can have the rest of the stuff.

I want to, for the record, state that I have enough stuff .. I don't want your stuff .. unless it's good stuff .. ;) .. And, I was not implying you had a shoe addiction, it was a "rhetorical question" .. ;) .. although, secretly, I had hoped you would say your collection of shoes does not fall into the "List of Stuff That Must Be Eliminated" .. because shoes are more essential .. ;) .. Kudos to you Janet .. I will admit I have more than 8 pairs of shoes / boots ..

"Hey, Willie .. what the Hell have you got that pile of 2x4 pieces laying around the shed for .. ??" .. "Have you seen what wood costs these days .. ?? And who knows when I'll need a 3 foot piece of 2x4 .. ?? And if I do, guess what, I've got it on hand." .. :)

"Actually, this is just a place for my stuff, ya know? That's all; a little place for my stuff. That's all I want, that's all you need in life, is a little place for your stuff, ya know? I can see it on your table, everybody's got a little place for their stuff. This is my stuff, that's your stuff, that'll be his stuff over there.
That's all you need in life, a little place for your stuff. That's all your house is- a place to keep your stuff. If you didn't have so much stuff, you wouldn't need a house. You could just walk around all the time. A house is just a pile of stuff with a cover on it. You can see that when you're taking off in an airplane. You look down, you see everybody's got a little pile of stuff. All the little piles of stuff. And when you leave your house, you gotta lock it up. Wouldn't want somebody to come by and take some of your stuff. They always take the good stuff. They never bother with that crap you're saving. All they want is the shiny stuff. That's what your house is, a place to keep your stuff while you go out and get...more stuff! Sometimes you gotta move, gotta get a bigger house. Why? No room for your stuff anymore."

I'm not sure how the weather compares farther south, like around CO Springs, but you don't have to go very far at all north or west to have much harsher weather. it's all about the mountains...

I was in Co Springs one time in April. Was surprised to see a lot of snow on the ground, but was very surprised that with low temps, and a lot of snow, it didn't FEEL all that cold. I'm sure it would now to me, but nothing like the bitter cold we get when it does get cold. Dunno if that's the "dry" cold, or if it was just a lucky few days.

Why the handle "Rotowoman" .. ?? :) .. you'll find if you hang around here, I sometimes ask stupid interesting questions .. ;)
had to fix that for ya!

I am afraid that if I move I will never get back to that comfort level. Doree swears we will but, folks I've put a lot of work into where I am now. Kinda scared I'll lose it all. Oh well nuff .....ing for now. Thanks for listening my friends.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

So sorry hun. I know a bit about how that is. When I moved in with SIL and nephew, I had to put all my craft stuff in storage. Those were my crafting tools. Heck, some of the demos husbands would even swipe some of our "tools" and they'd end up on their workbenches. My son guaranteed me that he'd get a climate controlled storage, and I told him several times, if you change your mind, let me know NOW. Once all the stamps, inks, adhesives etc are packed up, I can't redo them. He "forgot" when he got excited that they had a unit right next to his (then girlfriend), now wife's unit. Really. So the sucky part is, I have no place to stamp and make the things I so enjoy making, the super sucky part of it is, most of it is very likely now ruined from the heat and cold.

Movie night at Willie's next Saturday night. Everyones invited. (oops, didn't check w/ you 1st UW - I'm assuming it's OK).:toast:

I was thinkin the same thing. Ok, really I was thinkin......hey willie, wanna adopt me?? but movie night will suffice. lol

I guess I started modding at an early age. I wanted a painted pony, so I painted the spotted one.

So you were Mikeguyver even then! Did you make the paint outta some lemonade and chalk???

Tell me about it we are supposed to have 40mph winds tonight with a wind chill of -20

That alone would be reason enough for me to move!! :)

Yes - I remember Atari but in the early 70's when they were introduced I was hanging in bars not playing frogger. Are you sure you're old enough to be on the porch?

lol I was thinking the same thing. Wiki says frogger came out in 81. The year I graduated HS. We had an atari in the late 70's, used of course. Just the white paddles and white ball, and I think 4 games that were nearly identical utilizing those.

Doree and I will celebrate our 38th anniversary this September. I got married in 1979 in a lime green leisure suit. Two days before the ship was deploying to South America. Just the two of us, the judge and the judge's wife. Damn pants where so right that when I went to take the ring out of my pocket I dropped it and it rolled under the couch. I have a picture of the judge and my butts as we crawled under the couch looking for it!

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

Cannot believe NO ONE else demanded to see these pics!! lol although I am trying very hard to get the image of a lime green suit outta my head! lol

Congrats on 38 years - that is fantastic. :toast: My Prom Leisure Suit was baby blue and I also still have one that is canary yellow. I have been told to put them on Ebay since Disco is coming back. ;)

They were all baby blue! lol Well, most of em anyhow (see above)

Wow this gal just won 87K worth of cash and prizes on Wheel of Fortune.

Count me in too. I not only watch it, I dvr it. A few nights ago a man won just shy of 92K in the game alone! they said it mighta been a record. He didn't win the bonus round though. The other two players just smiled and looked purdy.

My final question would be your opinion on Womens Shoes .. ?? ;) ... while I feel sure we have no Imelda Marcos here (or maybe we do) .. ;)

we've long since established that i'm not a girly girl, but......I own ONE pair of shoes, and now, two prs of slippers since I got some miami dolphin slippers for Christmas.

Getting up on the table is easy - it is the getting down part I worry about...

hehehe Getting down is easy!! Might break a hip, but it's easy. Actually I could get down easier and a bit safer than I could get up.

?? absofrickenlootly!!! This burns me up what Matt's going through. I do hope that something will work out for you that you don't have to go home early. Unless of course, yur wantin to and this is a timely reason! lol I know they said the schedule II's could be done electronically (not fax), but don't know if that's federal and if it is, if it's local only. Yes there is an issue with the abuse, but when is the Government gonna learn that this crap DOESN'T STOP THE CRIMINALS!!! Sorry for the caps, but it makes me insane!! The abusers still get and abuse the stuff, or something like it, and the folks who need it, can't get it.

Sorry I was MIA a couple days. One of my bestest friends that I hadn't seen in 10 years came to visit. Her hubbie's son lives a couple towns over, so I was able to spend a night and a day with them! Wasn't nearly long enough, but was sooooooo wonderful to see them! They live in Mississippi, and had taken a several state tour visiting folks. This was their next to last stop on their way home.

I used to be a pack rat, but have had too many times of losing stuff to hurricanes, or having to downsize and get rid of it, or whatever that now I'm almost immune. I did have to get rid of some things this last time I'd have liked to have kept, but oh well. And the bad part is....probably kept some things that looking back I could have let go. I don't really collect things anymore though. I do have a few pieces, but very few. For the most part if I don't use it, I let it go.

I forget who said it, and apparently didn't quote it, but I'd love to see some pics of those ornaments if you have any. those sound gorgeous! And that's very functional, you use them every year.

I'd not heard the george carlin clip before. Loved him when he wasn't bein nasty. lol

Nah, we're heading home on Saturday. Only a week early. Talked to the neighbor who is watching our house so she would know we were coming and she told me that she also is on pain management but gets here filled thru the government mail order pharmacy. Her doctor just faxed in her script and the Air Force mail order pharmacy sent her a ninety day supply. I probably could drive up to Patrick AFB pharmacy and they would fill it but it's a 3 hour drive north of here and I really don't want to waste a whole day. I too can go through the mail order pharmacy so I'm going to look into it when we get back home. The nice thing about the Feds is even though the facility is in a particular state, state laws don't apply to them.

That's great, hit it right on the nose. I don't want to part with any of my stuff, at least not now. I am also to physically messed up to move my own stuff, gonna have to pay someone else to do it. Speaking of moving, anybody here ever use "Pods" ?
