I will my friend. I am still ...... at my doctor and I really hope I cool down before I get home or I might just make an appointment and let her know exactly it how I feel.

Sent with no malice and not a whole lot of forethought from my new Galaxy Tab 4. Thanks Santa!

AND OFF the meds!

Several pages back on the thread, someone asked if I would do a New Years Song Countdown, and I declined .. I'm going to spend the evening at a certain place I am known to sometimes visit .. however, I would like to hook everyone up with some free listening links ..

If you are interested in listening to any of these, let the thread Collective know which one you are streaming .. that way, perhaps other folks here will stream the same channel and you will share a musical journey, concurrently and Collectively ..

When any of these links load, it's usually pretty easy to see what you need to click in order to stream .. and they are all free links and don't suck up much bandwidth, so you can still do other things on line while listening .. please post if any of these don't work for you ..

One of my favorites is KSHE St Louis ;) .. an institution in this area .. primarily Classic Rock
    KSHE 95

Free Oldies Music Jukebox is a nice site in that it allows you to select the year, group of years, genre, etc and it will play just material from your selection .. and the fidelity is pretty good ..
Free Oldies Music Jukebox ? Listen to 200+ Channels of Internet Radio You?ll Love

All Hit Radio is based in the UK I believe, does a pretty good job, but sometimes can drift into the eclectic ..
All Hit Radio | Internet Radio

KSAN the Bone in San Francisco is a great Rock station with some very good DJ's ..Steven Seaweed known as the "Weedman" is one of my favorites ..

I'll probably drop in later for da festivities, BUT I'm beyond concerned 'bout Jewels!!!

    Anyone?

    Later...

I have had no response from the card I sent, which was I think about a week and a half ago .. I continue to remain optimistic and believe there is no cause to think the worst .. she has drifted away from the thread for extended periods in the past .. I personally feel it would be intrusive to attempt to obtain a phone number and call, but that's just me ..

I too am very concerned. All we can do is pray for her which I have been doing every night.

I sure hope she's ok. I would expect that she's let her husband know her sign on and to let us know if she ended up in the hospital or worse, but ya never know. And of course, that's if the person felt up to doing it.

Wishing every one a very happy, and SAFE new year's eve, and all the best in the coming year. If y'all go out tonite, please please please be careful! Carpool with a designated driver, or take a taxi home.

I have known about this since Dec 5th, but have been forbidden from saying anything online. But........now the announcement has been made on facebook soooooooooooo

    I'm gonna be a Grammy!!!!!!!!!

I've been sittin on my fingers and bitin my tongue for almost a month now........cuz they weren't going to say anything online until after her first dr appt which is January 16th, but my SIL just saw the facebook posting, said they couldn't wait any longer......so now I get to tell y'all!!! So happy!! She has a 5 year old and my son loves her just like she's his own, but he's so very happy to be able to get in on this from the beginning so to speak. lol We're all hoping for a boy! Her aunt had a dream not long ago that she was pregnant with twin boys, and that's certainly a possibility! What a great way to ring in the new year!!

I'm getting ready to head out in the next hour or so .. and I've thought about my post earlier regarding Debbie (Jewels) .. sooooo ..

Some time back, I had an opportunity available thru a contact of mine on the East Coast for a Bluegrass guitar player / singer .. I knew Debbie's son was in a Band at the time and had played live at some events in their local area and fit the bill .. so, we conversed about her son auditioning for a tour gig that would have been fairly lucrative for him financially .. turned out that with 3 kids at home and what not, it was not an opportunity he would choose to explore .. because of this, I may have some additional info that I could use to explore contacting him and asking what's up ..

I honestly feel a little like it's invading on someones privacy, and I don't like that feeling at all .. plenty have left the threads never to return in the past and they are doing just fine, I'm sure .. however, I'm asking you guys .. what would you have me do .. ??

Willie, I'm rather torn. I mostly agree with you. Sometimes folks just do need to pull away, and certainly have the right to do that without feeling like we're going to hunt them down. Is this anything that y'all discussed with her while I was away from the internet? Did she mention anything about having her hubby let us know if things went really bad?

Any contact I have had with Debbie has been upbeat and positive .. the last time I heard from her was her last post here on ECF .. I seriously doubt she left any worst case scenario request with anyone and, although I don't want to offend anyone here, who has or would .. ?? And, I continue to believe there is no worst case scenario ..

My earlier point was the fact that I am very much uncomfortable going any further .. and I'm asking the Collective for guidance .. which I may or may not use ..

Yeah, I understood what you were asking, but I know it has been discussed even since I've been back that with her illness, and our losing Tx, that we should all have someone to let someone on here know if something happened to any of us. I too very much hope it hasn't gone that far, and feel that most likely it hasn't. So I just had wondered if she'd said anything about that here on the porch.

For the most part I feel like we should just leave her alone at this point. I was so very glad you sent the card letting her know we all were thinking of her. She knows we're concerned, and when she feels up to it, she'll be back. That's my 2 cents anyhow.

Good grief .. I don't want to end the year on a low note .. it goes against everything I believe in .. regretting posting anything at all now on Debbie ..

Please don't feel bad hun. I realize you just signed off. I hope I didn't make you feel bad, I was just basically saying that along with you I was kind of torn. Wanting to know how she is, but like you, feeling we should respect her privacy.

If it were me, and I was ill I would appreciate knowing that someone cares enough to check on me. If I had lost someone I would appreciate that someone cares about them.

    I have spoken.

It's got nothing to do with anything you said .. it's just that old push / pull that my brain starts going thru when faced with a dilemma ..

oh good, and glad you hadn't signed off. I go through the same thing. Cuz I feel like what russell just said, but also feel like she knows we worry and we need to leave her be for a bit. So yeah, I go through the same thing. So hard to decide what to do. That's why I thought the card was such a great compromise! Not intrusive, but just hey, we are thinking of you.

Alright - last night there was some talk of mobility chairs/scooters. I just bumped into this one today. I thought it was pretty cool and it's compatible with quite a number of standard wheelchairs. But obviously they ain't cheap. About $2K for the one in the video.

It also comes in 2 manual versions and battery assisted manual version. The vendor:

Rio Mobility Firefly™ - the attachable Electric Handcycle that transforms your manual wheelchair into a motorized tricycle.

That is just awesome! I can't use a wheelchair to go do my shopping because of my hands, elbows & shoulders. Scooters are painful in the same areas plus my back after a bit. Powerchair would be ideal, but Medicare won't do those unless you need it in your home. I'm fine in my home, where it's just short distances, or I can sit down if I need to. It's outside my front door that I have problems!
