Just go to Books & where it gives you price options on the left put in 0.00 - 1.99. Or what ever amount. I get emails with lists of books from Freebooksey & Bookbub. You can choose catagories when you sign up & get daily emails. Most are free, some cost a bit.
I have Bookbub and Ereader. I get daily emails of free/less than $1 books. Occasionally I get an email about a book by a favorite author. Tonight got a Michael Connolly /Harry Bosch book for $2.99. I read on my phone with the Kindle app. I also have a Kindle but no wifi at home so loading books is not always convenient.

Geeeze, take a lil' daily break to head down to da 'office' (local boat ramp) and I wind up in a multi-post marathon tournament wid our Deba! Gotta luv our more recent porchers wid their enthusiasm and willingness to post...

First off, after my lil' vet/pols/history diversion yesterday, got da greatest tag-team setup on da way home earlier. Had to stop by Publix to pick up a prescription (actually at dat point, shouldn't dat be a postscription? Warped minds are curious...) As I entered da store, a young National Guardsman in uniform was just leaving da checkout. A sweet lady leaving da next checkout said, "Thank you for your service". With a slight nod, he responded with a "Thank you, Ma'am." I kinda bushwhacked him with a gentle shoulder grip, held out my right hand and said, "Likewise here, my good man!"

He shook my hand and obviously couldn't trust himself to say anything... been there, done that early on after 9/11. Hopefully he'll appreciate our appreciation and knowledgement of his and his family's sacrifices!

Nowadays, I respond with a "Thank you very much! It was an honor!" Did take me a while to not be surprised when caught off guard. Hopefully, our military will not have to go through my 'un-learning curve...

Especially if she is leather-bound!

FIFY....

opening more than 1 thread will just complicate things IMO

Gotta say we don't have many issues twix da front and back porch setup... just a matter of communications...

... cause as long as it is consecrated ground, our ashes can be buried..

Ummm, isn't dat kinda 'unfair' fer airline flight crew members/passengers 'lost' at sea?

Told my family to just dilute my ashes locally on an outgoing tide...

You do know that you might get a little resistance to that idea, don't you?

Hence, da sub-ohm culture...

It is the intent involved. Burial of remains implies belief in the doctrine of resurrection of the dead, which is present in most Christian religions. Scattering of ashes implies a denial of the afterlife.

For moi, it implies my affirmation that my molecules will return to from which they came. So will the spark my of 'existence'... in spite of doctrine/religion!

It was a bit different during my first tour. Didn't wear my uniform anywhere when I was stationed in Southern California.
One night had to be 6 or so years ago, my bride and I were out having dinner. There was a gentleman at a table near ours and he was wearing a Vietnam veteran's hat. A young man probably in his early 20's approached him and ask if he was a veteran and gentleman said he was. The young man held out his hand and the gentleman hesitantly took his offered hand and the kid thanked him for his service. The veteran was speechless and just nodded his head. Both my wife and I teared up at the scene.
The appreciation of the military, at least by the citizens, is a great thing to see. It can still be a bit of a surprise for me when people thank me today, too.

Never, ever, begin a sentence with, "Even the Marines!" I'll be gettin' Deb's fryin' pan! Deb? Doodles????

Odd you should mention Marines. I just found out their motto was Semper Fi. All these years, I thought it was Simplerfy.

Only if they are scattered.

Well, the rains finally reached us today, but I do believe we received the diluted version, which really didn't hurt my feelings. It did get a little stuffy this morning around 5 am when we lost power. Still, I count my blessings because north Louisiana got slammed! I DO feel so bad for those folks.

It's just been slower than molasses in January down here because nobody has flown in the last two days.

I did get a visit last night from my boss and HIS new boss. Heh heh....his new boss is a woman. :w00t: The long and short of it was that they like the job I've been doing, so that's a good thing. And the beat goes on.........

Of course they like the job you're doing, Roto. What's not to like?!

Does slower than molasses mean you're getting to rest at work? Just a little bit, maybe?
