Have I told you lately that I love you. Too funny. As you all might have noticed by my previous posts, I find it almost impossible to take any of this crap seriously. I know some folks are really worried about all this but, I am in 100% agreement with Kay that the funeral industry is the biggest racket ever. Why in hell should dying cost so damn much. I'm absolutely certain that the deceased doesn't care. They are not coming to the funeral so save some money and leave the remains out of it. In most states embalming isn't even required so there goes another $800 bucks or so right off the top as long as you don't want an open casket. Most funeral homes still carry pine boxes for pauper burials so use that for the actual burial and they will rent you a casket to put up front in the church for the funeral. It's a closed casket and the person that signs the contract is the only one that really knows there isn't anybody really in it. Lot's of way to save money on the end of life and still have a great service. The main thing to remember is keep the funeral home and cemetery out of most of it and you can save a fortune. That;s exactly what I;m going to do...if anyone is foolish enough to take it... if I have to be cremated, I do not want them buried in a cemetary plot..funerals are such a rip-off.... toss em in the wind, take em or mail em to my Sis to take to my favorite Ocqueoc Falls and throw em in the water...or flush em down the toilet...lotsa options! I'd prefer that any money spent will be for a Bon Voyage party.
And all my family know my wishes so I'm covered.
Hope nobody was offended but, there are plenty of resources online about saving money in burial expenses. You can even buy coffins on line for about a third the price the funeral parlor charges.
