That;s exactly what I;m going to do...if anyone is foolish enough to take it... if I have to be cremated, I do not want them buried in a cemetary plot..funerals are such a rip-off.... toss em in the wind, take em or mail em to my Sis to take to my favorite Ocqueoc Falls and throw em in the water...or flush em down the toilet...lotsa options! I'd prefer that any money spent will be for a Bon Voyage party.

And all my family know my wishes so I'm covered.
Have I told you lately that I love you. Too funny. As you all might have noticed by my previous posts, I find it almost impossible to take any of this crap seriously. I know some folks are really worried about all this but, I am in 100% agreement with Kay that the funeral industry is the biggest racket ever. Why in hell should dying cost so damn much. I'm absolutely certain that the deceased doesn't care. They are not coming to the funeral so save some money and leave the remains out of it. In most states embalming isn't even required so there goes another $800 bucks or so right off the top as long as you don't want an open casket. Most funeral homes still carry pine boxes for pauper burials so use that for the actual burial and they will rent you a casket to put up front in the church for the funeral. It's a closed casket and the person that signs the contract is the only one that really knows there isn't anybody really in it. Lot's of way to save money on the end of life and still have a great service. The main thing to remember is keep the funeral home and cemetery out of most of it and you can save a fortune.
Hope nobody was offended but, there are plenty of resources online about saving money in burial expenses. You can even buy coffins on line for about a third the price the funeral parlor charges. :)

When dad died he had everything all spelled out and mom just made one phone call and it was all taken care of. Unfortunately no one told me. By the time anyone called to tell me dad had died he had already been cremated with no ceremony at all and his ashes scattered over the White Mountains of AZ. Cheapest package he could find.

It is probably irrational but that hurt. A LOT!
That's inexcusable.

Well, so much for VCC. Got there as as I was paying for parking white smoke started spewing from my muffler. Checked oil -good. Radiator overflow, good. Hubby talled to our mechanic. Try this try that, can maybe get home or closer. When I could get in I did a quick sweep, got more water, and off I went to home. Got about 3 miles and started to overheat. So hereI sit on the on ramp from 301 north to I 4 east, waiting for a tow. I could cry, I was so looking forward to the meet and meeting people!

Well, I'm certainly glad that you made it home all right!!

When I go, I just want to donate what I can, have the rest cremated at a reasonable cost, and send me in the wind. I have no church affiliation, so if someone wants a memorial service for me, fine, but celebrate my life, don't spend hard earned money on my death. I won't be around to appreciate it. JMHO

it's not irrational at all. That closure is very important.

I'd call that the ultimate organ donation. If I did that, why one earth would I want the ashes back? So I could spend $1500 bucks for the cemetery to dig a hole?:D:rolleyes:
For me, not important.....for some it's very important for that closure.

but I missed everybody!!!
(((((((Cathy))))))))) sorry hun you've had a rough day. But glad to know you're home safe and sound

Speaking of funerals and such, when my husband passed away, he didn't want a wake or anything like that. He wanted to be cremated. We did so with a small memorial at the funeral home. I don't remember what it cost, but probably two weeks later, I got his ashes. For a long time I didn't know what to do with them. His daughter suggested some things, but something just kept me holding on to them.

Some time later, his mother and father passed away, and his brother asked me if they could have some of his ashes to bury next to their parents. My rational mind knew those ashes weren't him, but I couldn't bring myself to separate those ashes, so I just sent all of them back to Nebraska to be with his folks. For some reason, that was like experiencing the death all over again, but I knew I was doing the right thing.

As for me, I'm not wasting any mother earth for a plot to bury my ashes. I wish to be cremated. The least amount of money spent on my demise, the better. I just want the family to dance and sing when I'm gone and NO crying!!

OK, here I go again... y'all are brutal! In posting order...

So hereI sit on the on ramp from 301 north to I 4 east, waiting for a tow. I could cry, I was so looking forward to the meet and meeting people!

Oh Cathy, it's bad 'nuff fer moi, but all da more so fer our lady porchers!

Much the same premise as you would cook broccoli rabe (rapini).....I usually par boil then saute in olive oil and garlic w/pink Himalayan salt.

Thanx, I'll be sure to have my ol' Yeti girlfriend send me some o' dat pHs. Besides, she owes me big time... all she did was yak, yak, yak...

Didn't see anyone I recognized.

But...

So I am like AWKWARD !!! Some ... is playing a joke on me.
I just turned around and left.

If you had any idea how difficult it is for me to approach someone and talk to them...omg !!!

Who the hell does that kind of crap ?
Probably the same turd that pulled the fire alarm switch.

First off, that's just soooo totally wrong!

Second, knowing your sweet you and your in da 'wild' (aka public) persona, I totally understand your discomfort!

Lastly, disappointed that you and any porchers there today missed each other(s).

All y'all porchers, seriously, you will not meet a kinder, more lovely and sweet person, let alone, 'moderator'!!!

When I was making arrangements for my wife's funeral...

... Really? Give me a break!

Diver, I abbreviated your post to short circuit all of my rants & raves re all da relative (no pun intended) posts thus far.

Will say that 'guilt' is one of the most powerful emotions to control others; here and now after!

This is why people need to discuss arrangements before they need them.

So true! And as fer scientific purposes, don't know what use I could be; other than saving a lil' gelatin used fer ballistic testing...

Those are the ones that get played on by the unscrupulous funeral homes. When a family is grieving for a family member who has been lost early or unexpectedly are extremely vulnerable and are taken advantage of by the unscrupulous SOB businesses. I will now get off my high horse. Thanks for listening.

And thanks for posting!

Don't know, don't want to think about anything right now but this nice cold beer.

Hey, after your ordeal, just relish da brew and let da stress fade. Tomorrow won't be as tuphph and you'll be able to make more rational decisions!

All juice, no real hardware to speak of. No new technology info, and "smoky" (vapey?) as all get out. I just wanted to meet my fellow porchers (and a few others). Overall I was not impressed with the venue, but I missed everybody!!!

Yepper, da folk are da only reason I show up when I can.

Whew, finally got caught up, hard to keep up now that i am working.

Talkin' 'bout 'keeping up', ya oughta date a Yeti <how's dat fer a double entendre>...

Bingo! Although, if I do couple of things right ahead of time, I may not shed any tears while a few 'shysters' do...

You said my words to perfection!

Russ, I posted on your win in the Just foggy thread but how are YOU doing? New job (work - YES!), injuries? Where's your head? (thinking). Friends care.
