I had a premonition before the game started of what the final baseball score would be today: Tampa Bay Rays 14, Cuba 0.

Now with only 9 outs remaining at bat, Tampa leads 3-0.

Not all premonitions come true but it was a strange one that came out of nowhere.

Don't think so, don't see anything about relative time here...
tumblr_ly30q06L8J1qg4x1do1_500.jpg

Only people who are both Doctor Who fans and musicians will get it.
I consider myself somewhat of a musician but was not familiar with the terms "compound time" and "complex time" for 9/8 and 7/8 time signatures respectively.

The Dr Who reference is lost on me.

I suppose it's more of a music theory thing than something that any musician would know. Simple Time means a single beat can be broken into two notes, Compound Time is any time signature in which a single beat can be broken into three notes so 6/8 and 9/8 are examples. Complex Time is pretty much any time signature that doesn't conform to either simple or compound definitions.
The Doctor Who reference is just from a quote that most hardcore fans of the newer series are familiar with.

I took a semester of music theory back in 1970. Then again, I think I got a D.

On Sunday I lost my Uncle David, for whom I was named. All eleven siblings of Dad's family are now gone. It makes me feel kind of naked. No one called James David Bellware "James". Like all the men in that family, he did not use his first name. One, my Uncle Pete, used neither his first NOR his middle name. (His given name was George Lewis Bellware.)

My condolences and prayers on your loss, Bells. I know the time will come that I will have to bear witness to those in my line who came before me, and the mere thought of that loss saddens me. I find it interesting that all of the men did not go by their first names, many people who know me think it odd that I go by my middle name. :)

I hope that you and your family find peace and comfort during this period. You will be in my thoughts and prayers, sir.

Oh, Bells, I'm sorry you've lost your Uncle. I know what you mean by feeling naked. My mother lost her first sibling in December & that's how she described feeling. It was her oldest sister.

Bells, this has to be a sad time for you. As our parents' generation dies off, we do begin to realize our own mortality. I have an aunt at 90+ who is sharp and healthy. On the other side of the family another aunt some ten years younger who does well despite a number of strokes. When they go----

I'm a wee bit nervous, this morning, apprehensive about starting with a new medical team. It's silly; I'm blessed to be in relatively close proximity to the best oncology center for this *%#*+*! disease in the country -- but I'm still fretting.
((((((Birdy)))))))))) I'm hoping it's over now and went better than you expected. It's very natural to be apprehensive. I really wanted my dad to move closer to me (he was about 4 hrs away) but he had docs he trusted and didn't want to leave them, even though they said nothing could be done. I understood that. I would go down for the weekend 2-3 times a month, and he'd come visit me, til he couldn't any longer. I couldn't afford to move where he lived and knew no one down there.

A supervised introduction might be appropriate. So long as puppy is well-fed, hold the hamster in your lap, and tell the puppy that it is his brother.
Jup we're working up to that. Right now she's too skittish to hold, so am working on getting her to trust us first. Each day is another step forward. She has actually let me hold her once for just a bit, and finally put a couple paws onto my hand to reach food further up in my hand. I call him a puppy but he's just turned 3, but he's easily excitable. And jup, I totally agree with the pack concept. Wish I could get dil and gd to understand it, particularly the pack leader concept. He sees my son and I as pack leaders, but not them.

Have 3 of the 4 grandbabies today, so will be very scarce on the computer.......OY.....have to keep em busy! Think I'll take them over to the bowling alley and get some laughs.
Don't know how you do it girl! Bowling is a good idea!

Oh, and before I get started with the munchkins, I wanted to show you a video of our newest grandbaby in a commercial for Fisher-Price.......the newborn at the very end is our Maria.....the mama is an actress, not our Katie (dil)
For some reason a lot of things you post like this don't come up for me. I refreshed etc. Not sure why, I see most other things. Can someone maybe link it again for me please?

He's a terrier, he's just doing what comes naturally. They do need to be introduced, so he'll learn to play nice.
Jup that's what I told my son when they couldn't figure out why he was always chewing up stuffed animals. It's what he was bred to do!

You are the ONLY other person I know of who remembers and/or ever had any paregoric. I remember measles, chicken pox........all those miserable childhood diseases that were so painful and itchy.....my mom would "help me sleep" by giving me paregoric.
I don't know if I was ever given any but I do remember it.

Sorry lost my TARDIS Key a couple years ago. I keep thinking one of these days the Doctor will bring me a new one, but no such luck.
Seriously though, wishing you well and hoping your new team makes you comfortable in short order.

Since my sister and one of my brothers will be at the funeral service for my Uncle Dave, I feel relieved of the responsibility to get to Dayton myself. If none of my 3 sibs were going to be able to get there I'd have gotten there. The visitation being tomorrow evening and the funeral service Thursday morning, and us not being able to find out the arrangements until early this morning would have made it complicated but not impossible for me to get there.

Sorry to hear that bells

On a related note

My paternal grandfather's name was Voy Vernan Moore, but when he was a child he would walk down to the cotton gin wherevthe old men would sit around playing dominoes. They would ask (knowing full well who he was) "whats your name little boy?" He would reply with "Dick Jones". Somehow the name stuck so hard that most people thought it was his real name, to the point that my mother wanted to name me Richard after him. The name sewn into his work shirts was Dick, and most of the people at his funeral were surprised that wasnt his name.

Bells, I am sorry to learn of your loss. According to his obit, he was quite a gifted man!! It sounds as though he lived a very full life.

I get what you mean about feeling naked. I was just thinking the other day how my sister and brothers and I will be orphans when my father passes away. He is 85. I know that sounds melodramatic at this age, but that's how it feels just the same.

I am so sorry for your loss Bells. I have been an orphan for many years with no aunts nor uncles. I is a rather strange feeling. I have lost several friends, my age or younger, and it really makes you realize how mortal we all are.

Cherish his memory, remember the good times, celebrate his life, and keep him in your heart.

As for using middle names, my brother has always gone by his middle name. Don't know why, but it has always been thus.

my aunt and my mom both went by their middle names, but I know why and don't blame em. My grandparent's were great, but needed their head examined when it came to naming children! My aunt was Hazel Jean and my mom was.......ready for this...... Bertha Alberta
