my aunt and my mom both went by their middle names, but I know why and don't blame em. My grandparent's were great, but needed their head examined when it came to naming children! My aunt was Hazel Jean and my mom was.......ready for this...... Bertha Alberta
My Dad's first name was Morris. He went by his middle name, Daniel. His mom and sometimes his sisters were the only ones who ever called him Morris. Oh yeah, also the receptionists at the doctors' offices when the doc was ready to see him. He signed his name M D Bellware, sometimes leading people to think he was a doctah.

D-major or D-minor? :D
Yuk yuk yuk. :)

...and has hopefully reached it's conclusion.

Amen!

On Sunday I lost my Uncle David, for whom I was named.

"He was a veteran of the European Theater in WWII where he served in the Army, Cannon Co. 119th Infantry 30th Division. He received the Purple Heart, the European-African-Middle Eastern ribbon with 5 Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct ribbon. His battles included: Normandy (D-Day — Omaha Beach), Northern France, Ardennes (The Battle of the Bulge), Rhineland, and Central Europe."

Dave, ya have one hellava bloodline, my friend! Just don't feel guilty if you can' t make his services. I know he understands. Just your appreciation is 'nuff for him!

@bigbells, I'm sorry for your loss, Bells. It's just so hard to lose the people we love. Tell us your favorite story about him.

@kad2371 and @Danousa, thanks for tryin'! In the end, I drove ... :)

@MattB101, SO NOT FAIR that you can lose weight easily! If I give you the 12 lbs I gained, will you lose it for me? Congrats on getting your A1C down. Keep up the great work!

@Kaezziel & @Flowersoul, if you really want to laugh, watch me bowl! My depth perception is pathetic, and the last thing I threw was a temper tantrum -- about 50 years ago! :danger:

Have no fear. They already wrote a song years ago when I experimented w/ subway time travel.

I went to school in Boston. We used to sing that song on the platform while waiting for the T - much to the chagrin of the other passengers

I've been to Boston a number of times ... never on the T.

I did get caught on one of the round-abouts though

On Sunday I lost my Uncle David, for whom I was named. All eleven siblings of Dad's family are now gone. It makes me feel kind of naked. No one called James David Bellware "James". Like all the men in that family, he did not use his first name. One, my Uncle Pete, used neither his first NOR his middle name. (His given name was George Lewis Bellware.)

I'm sorry for your loss.

Speaking of names, my dad's first name was Gerald. When I came along it was decided that I would be a Junior. Well, my dad had always gone by Jerry so when I came out, my mom already had a brother who went by Junior, she did NOT want me to go by Junior. It was determined that I would be called Jerry and dad would go by Gerald. You may have noticed it is Gerald with a "G" and Jerry with a "J". It is an Okie thing. My mom and dad divorced when I was 16. Speed ahead a couple years and mom met a really nice guy that owned a small cattle farm a few miles away. We had lived in the big thriving metropolis of Picher, OK. His name was Jack and he had a son named Jerry. They dated for a couple years and after I left home and joined the Navy, mom and Jack decided to get married. When they went to the courthouse to get their marriage license, Jack confided that his real name was Gerald. I heard from Jack that my mother uttered a few words that should not have been said in a courthouse here in the Bible Belt where Oklahoma is considered to be the buckle. It seems that when Jack was 6 or so years old that neither him or his best friend liked their names so they picked new ones. They told their parents and demanded the new names be used. And so, Gerald has been known as Jack to this day. Although the marriage had a bit of a rocky start, Jack paid her bail, they were married for the remaining 25 years of Jack's life. A finer man I never met. A heart of gold and he loved my mother as she should have been loved. Now you know just a little bit more about me.

I really never spent much time around my Uncle David except for a couple of NJ-Ohio mutual short visits when I was a kid, and at family reunions, which are fairly infrequent. I guess my favorite story is about when he played golf horribly but still beat me badly. That happened, I think, at the same 1997 reunion where my little brother recorded these videos of my Dad, my Aunt Mary and my Uncle David talking about their lives growing up on a farm in Dayton OH. I am very moved by what my Dad says at 4:00.

Hi all :D

Doing ok with this temp vaping - years after it came out lol
Hey hun, glad you're likin it!

And in other news, I shot this little thing off today on my 3D printer.
Building coils requires very nimble hands, or 4 of them.
Hope with this 3D printed build deck, I will only need 3 hands.
I ran out of the filament at 96%, so had to feed in a new one... Doesn't look too bad. Used super glue to glue in a tank display puck, and I now have a nice wide base to work from and even some depressions to keep round bits from rolling away.

And I just heard it finish cooling down. It makes a cracking sound when it unsticks from the glass plate. Now I can test it out!
that is sooooooo kewl!!

I'm slapping my own fingers to keep from loading one up & trying it!
well someone beat me, but yeah ya gotta try em and make sure they work right!

That's so heartwarming. Every woman should be so lucky! Good thing he didn't tell her his name before, she might notta married him

Did he ever return no he never returned and his fate is still unlearned. He may ride forever through the streets of Boston, he's the man who never returned.
