My first new car was a little Subaru hatchback. Creamy yellow with a roof rack. 5 speed stick. How I loved that car! It was a tank, for all its tiny size, and was a blast to drive. I sold it with around 100k miles, only because I had to have ACL surgery on my left knee, and, well, it's kinda hard to drive a stick when your leg won't bend :).
My first car was a 1969 Toyota Corolla Station Wagon. One of the deacons in the church and my second dad sold it to me for $300. Before he would let me have it he had it tuned up, replaced the transmission and had new brakes installed all around. It was a bargain needless to say. The back of the drivers seat was broken at the base of the back. Literally but steel tubes in the seat back had been snapped at the hinge. If you put the back seat down it held the front seat back up in the perfect position for me to drive it comfortably. My mom took a 6 inch thick piece of heavy foam rubber and made me a mattress that covered the whole back inside so I could take friends along. This was in 1973 so there were no "seat belt laws." I don't really know what she was thinking giving a 16 year old a station wagon with a bed in the back but, I wasn't complaining. Great car! I installed a really good stereo and it lasted me almost 5 years before I had any problem with it at all. Gave it to my mother with over 250K on it, it had well over 150K when I got it but Mr. Duffett had fixed it up like new before he sold it to me.

I went to the bone doc yesterday. Waited a month and a half for the appt. When I got there my appt showed 130pm they told me that it was at 1130 which isn't what they told me. They said I could wait but it would be a long one. He had 50 appts yesterday. Now what kind of care could you possibly get when a doc sees 50 people in one day. They said it wasn't urgent and I was not going to sit there till 5pm so I said screw it. They couldn't get me another appt till end of May my leg feels fine so ....e gusess that is $400 he won't get from me which is the average charge for a specialist.
Well that rather sucks. Don't most doctors offices call the day before to remind "you" (meaning anyone, not you specifically) of the appointment? I guess not expensive specialists.

Oh and they were so nice and said they wouldn't charge me for it I guess 49 was sufficient for him.
Yea, real kind of them

Gettin' ready to head out for the night... guess I'll see y'all on Monday if I can't get in here sooner. Either way, I'll let y'all know how the appointment goes once it's all said and done. Take care, everyone!
I know you are already gone for the weekend, but hope everything goes well and you can get some answers to make some major decisions. We will be here for you when you get back. {{{{{HUGS}}}}}

Refineries are switching to production of heating oil so we are now relying on what gas was produced during the winter, price will continue to rise as that supply dwindles, until fall when they switch back to fuel.

Last stinkie 10/15/2013
Based on the number of oil trains going through here from NDak on their way to the coast there is not shortage of that oil and NDak can heat their houses with their tap water.

I am thankful he is in a large metro area, where there are resources to help him with such a unusual combination of problems, but my feelings of helplessness sometimes overwhelm me. I would love to be able to cry, but even that has been taken away from me.
(((((((((3mg))))))))))) I'm so sorry for what you're going through sweetie! I am very glad he's in a facility that hopefully is a really good one that can help him learn to manage some of his difficulties, and help him beat others! I know how hard it is to worry about a kid and not be able to get to them. When my son deployed I was a basket case the 1st 3 months til God finally said...... "Do you really think you're the one who's protected him all these years???" and "Do you think there is any place in the Universe that he can go, that MY hand can't reach???" Sometimes God has to whack me between the eyes like that to get my attn. Of course I still worried bout him after that, but not nearly as much as before. Does he have access to email so y'all can communicate that way? I got creative in checking on my son......if I hadn't heard from him in awhile.......I'd check his bank acct online......if he'd spent money, I knew he was ok. lol Just know that even when you don't.......God knows exactly how he is and has HIS hand on him.

not evening anymore, but good morning to you and all the other porchers..life is normal, except that my first Great Grandson arrived Saturday evening..not sure about his name though, Oliver Castle, came in at 8lbs-12ounces and 21 1/2".
congrats again hun!!!!! didn't wanna tell your announcement, but glad you did!!!! Was great talkin with ya.

I will continue to share this journey with y'all for as long as you'll have me here.
well that's til forever and then some!!

I am proud and honored to have found this place and being welcomed with such loving open arms. I extend my open arms to all of you. Thank you.
right backatchya darlin! It is amazing, but then again, like tends to find like.

We've had more lay-offs than I can count and none of our jobs are very secure right now. Forecasts are saying that it probably won't get any better until possibly 2018... :(
Definitely praying for that too, and you answered my ?? about if the insurance was from your job or elsewhere. My dad went to MD Anderson too

And no... my first name is not Ezekiel, though the name may be found in the Bible. ;) Only clue yer gonna git! :p
I knew it was Zachariah!! hehehe j/k.....would never want ya to feel pressured into revealing something you're not comfy with!

oh that burns me up!!! I know sometimes ya just don't wanna fight certain things....... but if I'd had the energy, I'd have thrown a fit til they got me in to see him very soon!! So gracious of em to offer not to charge you....jerks!!

Nite darlin!! Y'all will be in our thoughts and prayers!!

My first car (not new) was an orange Volkswagen Super Beetle. Semi-automatic transmission. Her name was Thumpette. I still think about her. Wish I had not sold her.
ohhhhhh you've got a kindred spirit here......who thinks he can run......but he can't hide! Ohhhhhh @subwayaznm I like the name thumpette. Immediately thought of thumper. Funny how we name cars. I had a green Ford Taurus.....the shiny green reminded me of a leprechaun, and the lines of it reminded me of a dolphin. My favorite dolphin that I worked with was named Lucky, which tied in with the green, so I named him Lucky.

Apparently mostly everything these days. Damn whiners, complainers, and everyone's a victim. Nothing is ever their fault. :-x:lol:
I resemble part of that remark, the whiner and complainer part but it is all my fault. If we only knew what we did when we were young would effect us so much when we got old. I was bulletproof when I was young but starting to find out those bullets were actually doing some damage.

Well the price of crude yesterday was 38.42 a barrel and gas was 1.45 on commodities market. We have one of the highest taxes on gas in the US but sounds to me like oil companies are making big money, bigger then usual. They just tighten the supply of the refined product and screw us. What's new.

The Arabs haven't slowed production at all.

On da first quote, BO will always make big bucks; even if it means capping wells, reducing processing output and/or laying off employees (re Kaez's posts fer an example).

As to tightened fuel supply, read da next quote's highlighted statement (BTW, Russia hasn't cut back their production either. Can't afford to...)

Oil production glut is affecting most of da industry, and consequently worldwide economies; wid one lucrative exception... speculators! Econ 101 and 601 at its be$t...

One of these days that whole stinkin desert is going to fall into never never land.

Don't hold your breath...

Oh, BTW, wanna get me really riled up... let's talk $ub$idie$s, especially wid corn/ethanol...

They couldn't get me another appt till end of May.

There are over 1000 men's names in the Bible. Good luck with that!

Methuselah?

Ummm, I'd say Jōb is da most appropriate fer Zael!

If you're whining and complaining that you think others whine and complain too much, aren't you part of the problem?

Otaaay, let's all let apathy rule! Oh, wait... never mind...

No I'm not part of the problem cause I only complain to you guys!

Slacker...

Birdie, sheer poetry!

I have so few words for people who are going through such situations. The pain is the same as I have experienced, but the situations are immensely different, and inappropriate for this board. I have two others where I can let it loose. I often cope by going into automaton mode, but that doesn't mean on a deeper level that I don't feel. Drinking is not an option, due to past alcohol abuse, and that even after one drink, the next day my BP gets dangerously high.

My son is in a psych unit, and will need structured environments for a long time. I don't need to explain the details, but I ask for your prayers. He is an Aspie with a substance abuse problem, who has been torn to pieces with conflicted social environments. He has apparently been trying AA, but that may not be the right way for him. He is 500 miles away, and, as you know, telephone is difficult for me.

I am thankful he is in a large metro area, where there are resources to help him with such a unusual combination of problems, but my feelings of helplessness sometimes overwhelm me. I would love to be able to cry, but even that has been taken away from me.
After 4 treatment centers I continued to drink an then about 2 years ago I just stopped. I tried a couple of beers a couple months ago and it made me feel like crap so like the song says I gotta start takin more of it or less of it for me less is a better option. My BP shoots up and my heart rate also when I drink definately not an option.

My first car was a 38 Plymouth coupe. It was a rust bucket with a six and 3 on the column. Had a mattress in the back and could sneak 4 people into the Drive in. Paid $75 for it painted lime green with spray cans. I think or a brush never asked. Oh and it had a beer tap handle from a bar for a shift nob.

Wrong button it kinda went sideways when you shifted. Those were the good old days. My mom and dad said I couldn't keep it and had to give it back so I hid it down the road and used it anyway. Insurance what's that mean.
