Times sure change. Back in the day if you got a foot or so of snow the weatherman says drive carefully. Now, an inch or so and they close roads.
Just east of me they have 14 inches so far and 6-12 more hours of snow to go.
southern KY got freezing rain before the snow.
About 10 inches here drifted up to 3 feet in some places.

Was outside shoveling for a while. Making trails for the cats to get to their sleeping spots and the feeding zone.
Mail did not make it today. ARRGH! Waiting on my istick Basic!

I'm well aware of who they were....I stayed at the Pennsylvania Hotel in NYC....address 65000....for which Glenn Miller had a song....Gene Kruppa was a great drummer, as was Buddy Rich....who I heard play in person.....but I don't think we have anyone here old enough to have had one of their songs as the class song in HS.....;)

my class song-- or at least "unnoficial" class song.

we had a very talented folk singer who graduated a year or two before me and went on to play a lot of local gigs. he'd always end his set with this song, exhorting everyone to "stand up for the national anthem"

And now for something completely different.
If you have a good computer sound system, turn it up, close your eyes, and enjoy... if not, don't turn it up too loud - it'll blow your speakers up!

Thank you, I just put in my earbuds and all is well.

chili cookin on the stove to warm my bones :)

Looking good! I have leftover chilli heating on the stove. I hope there is enough for my daughter. Although, she did take some for her lunch.

Check this out. A model car that goes over 200 mph. Pretty cool! :w00t:

I wouldn't want to be around if the tether broke!

this Fred is more apt to walk you if you go out....
I had to put on a puppy patch this morning. I was looking at cats at the local humane society website and decided to look at the puppies. They had a Great Dane mix pup that was I think 6 months old. I don't think I could afford the food!

yay. i finally got my heater fixed. i'm back to just t-shirts. first time in a month i haven't had to wear a sweater or thick shirt.

it's almost too warm. i might have to crank it down and just go back to the sweaters. i think i got used to being a little cold.
I wear my camo hunting gear when I go out. People might look at me and smirk but it is a lot warmer than anything else.

Weird.

I want my minute 53 back please?...
Totally agree!!

That was George? No wait George was the other guy.
Yes, the abomidable snowman called daffy George.
But when someone says they are gonna name something by saying "I will call it..." I just can't help thinking of that classic.

The loony tunes part was actually a ripoff from Of Mice and Men.
A Steinbeck Novel and movie too.

OK... new one.
This takes great skill, effort, and a bit of crazy to do.
do you think he spent years finding each note on his organ, or did he "tune" it himself?

Toto... we are NOT in Kansas!

that was just plain WIERD!

Outdoor dog show, today we sat in the tent (thankfully we rented one since I did the show by myself last week with all the rain!) and the rain pounded and the wind howled - for about 20 minute spurts. Cleared up around noon, then the wind started. i am showing Geordi tomorrow - supposed to be highs in the high 40s and winds with 35mph gusts. The tents flap and the wind howls. I have been walking him around, but he is going through the 9 month "fear of situations" fear period (also known as hormones kicking in) so my solid, confident puppy is kind of a basket case. When he spooks we stop and practice a few tricks for treats, play a little game of tug (as much as he will) and work on attention (attention to me). Object is to distract him and do confidence building things, not fuss over him and teach him that he can do this. He will come out of it shortly, but tomorrow will be interesting. Will he let the judge examine him? Probably not, but I am planning on making our ring time a big game. People have gone from "he is soooo cute!!" to "Wow, he is stunning!", so I have hope! We will get through this!

Wish us luck! i will post results. Major broke (one of the entered girls is not showing), but a point or two would be nice! His sister has been showing - got both her "majors" and is now up to 11 points (need 15 total for championship, which includes 2 majors - wins over enough other dogs of the same sex or both to be worth 3 -5 points. In this area of the country, need 4 girls or 4 boys for a 3 point win). If the major hadn't been broken, she would probably have finished this one 10 day circuit!

those in the snow - stay warm and safe!!

i bought fresh veggies for the first time in about 6 years. i'm slowly trying to wean myself off tv dinners. i stopped cooking real food when my hand went numb, but after 6 years, i'm accustomed enough to it to try cooking again.

tonight will be a cauliflower or broccoli night. not sure yet. preceded by a caesar salad, which, of course, is the ONLY salad :)

Scott's chili pic has had me looking steely-eyed at my neglected crockpot. i may be putting it back into use. googling recipes. i used to crock a mean navy bean soup.

I would love to have a Dane! They are big old couch potatoes, although they do like to stretch their legs & get the zoomies about once a day. They only est about 3 cups of food per meal. Not as much as i would have thought. A Dane mix would eat less. Go get da puppy!
