Well we are reconsidering leaving. Hoping the air clears some by Wednesday. Right now the whole east side of the state is on fire just about. The air quality is between unhealthful and very unhealthful just about everywhere over there. Worst fire season ever. Seems that every area of the World has had some sort of climate related problems. No rain in sight for around our house. But Global Warming is not real. HUH??? If this kind of thing keeps up it is going to be catastrophic. Somehow I don't believe it is just a cycle, if it is it is going to be a cycle that eventually mankind will not be able to overcome. There are cities in the NW that according to sattelite photos are more polluted then Beijing. There is a fire 40 miles from our house that was 300acres when we left it is now 46000. It is by no way the largest and they can't get a handle on them. We had a couple of days that the wind was right and even pushed the smoke to this side of the mountains. I heard there are about 60 wildfires burning in WA, OR and ID

By all means stay, for the sake of the health of both of you. My brother in Cali has respiratory problems, but is close enough to the ocean that it goes away from them.

One other thing if you don't believe in Global Warming why do 97% of the scientist in the world believe in it? Enough doom and gloom. I think we will still head back Wednesday supposedly there is going to be a change in the jet stream that will push some of the smoke North. I hope so. Not good for people with heart or lung related problems and I am both. Must be all the people vaping causing all this. We are supposed to get rain for the next 3 days here too bad it won't make it far enough east to be much help. It will be great for naptime.

If you do get a Gen. just always remember to shut off the "Main" in your breaker box when your running it! If the "main" is left on the Gen. will back feed the power lines and might just kill the poor Guy fixing the lines. Any time I ever wired in a Gen. hook up I put a big bold tag on it saying " TURN OFF The MAIN BREAKER!!!!" Just gotta add more, Do Not run anything off a gen. on a cord smaller then 12 ga. if your not sure remember the higher the cord gauge (ga) the smaller the wire and the less amperage carrying ability. And run as short a cord as you can . If in doubt call a local Electrician and ask questions. it beats burning something up trying to run it on to small a cord. And for your life put the gen. outside away from windows! unless you wan to die from carbon monoxide poisoning. I really can't stress Gen. safety enough.
If your genny is not grounded properly, genny power can also feed out thru the neutral and pose a danger to linemen or linewomen.

Yep if it doesn't get up to at least Moderate we probably will. The big problem is they can't get the fires contained and the manpower is spread so thin they are using volunteers. People are wrapping their buildings with some type of fire ......ant material that has like a foil on the outside. It is something new. We are definately not going to be able to stop at our friends house near Leavenworth Wa, one of the biggest fires in the state is about 50 miles north of there it is a combo of 5 different fires. That fire grew to 400 square miles overnight.

Does anybody know if being in this Florida heat will prevent him from getting that "second" coat this winter so he won't shed so darn bad next spring? He sheds enough in one day to make a kitten! As my mom would say when as kids we'd ask her "what for"..." Cat fur to make a pair of kitten britches.";)
When I moved back north from FL my shedding did not decrease at all. bummer...

Yeh, I guess although I've see plenty of transfer switches that don't. The neutral is grounded a gazillion times in a distribution system in a normal city. Heck, I think it's grounded a couple of time before it gets to the pole from your house. The neutral bus is bonded to ground in your fuse panel.
But if your generator is NOT grounded...
And very few ground the frame on their genny.

electricity from a genny only goes to ground IF the genny is grounded. Does you battery in your mod drain out if you lay it on the ground? elecricity is a closed loop thing.

I know I marked more quotes over the last few days. Who knows what happened to them!

Welcome to all the new Porchers! Make yourself at home!

I just mostly live on a one-day-at-a-time basis. I could drop dead tomorrow, and it wouldn't matter anyway. :)
I know what you mean. In the past, I've found myself stressing about Vapocalypse (or retirement, or whatever). Then something would happen that made me realize that, if I didn't stop stressing about the future, I wasn't going to have one! Then, the stressing would have been for nothing!
deb says everyone be quiet till she getts cought up ok :)
Good luck with that.

I was serious about the cat shedding question. I have no idea but, I sure hope so.
I would think it would slow down, anyway. The Boy Dog sheds as much as the golden. Continually. And hes a short hair. He's like Pigpen in Charlie Brown cartoons. Has a little cloud of bristley hairs floating around him.

The Abby Dog does the same but it's worse in the spring time. Absolutely nothing I can't handle. On the other hand the b/w dust mop long haired kitty can shed enough in 24 hours to fill up the canister of our Dyson vacuum. He's one sheddy kitty.

Before Tasha was spayed, after she was in heat she would literally blow her coat. Everything in about 2 weeks, almost down to skin. I vacuumed every day and used the dust buster several times a day. She does not shed as much now, but the undercoat builds up and I have to comb her out regularly. I save the hair (have a big bag) and send it to a friend who spins it into yarn. Geordi is not shedding yet, but neutered Spock was like Tasha is now. Intact, the Tervs are usually good for a good once or twice a year coat blow.
