Your not going to believe this. I was an officer in the VFW when I was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and ask for some help in finishing a few projects on the rental house before I went into the hospital for my surgery. Never heard a single word from them. Didn't even get a visit in the hospital. I let my membership expire. Bunch of worthless, self promoting drunks if you ask me.

As Old Man Winter begins to now sink his cold teeth into the days and long nights, I reflect back to the many that have come and gone, those that have passed along the way, and what I always call the fire pit we gather around as a chill begins to enter the days .. since before time was recorded, people have gathered to form a Community .. and we are just another extension of thousands of years of folks gathering .. for friendship, for discussion, for a feeling of belonging to something ..
It's been a while since I've said it, but thanks for allowing me to share my place around that fire, and I hope it never goes out ..

BEEN ONE OF THOSE DAYS. Had to have dad at the dentist at 8:00 which meant I had to get up at 6. Got ready to walk out the door and put my reo in my pocket and found out I had my britches on backwards. Since I lost some weight, I don't have to zip or unzip to put them on so I made a mental note to check next time.
Dentist asked if daddy really wanted to get his teeth cleaned today since he had been through so much. Without missing a beat, I told the dentist I had to get up early and he was going to do something to him before I left. grrrr
A 3 band-aid fall yesterday and a scuff on the side of the head fall today. He bought a new blower with gutter attachments today and was cranking it and lost his balance. (yes, there goes another gray hair on me) Sheesh (and I only have gray hairs on the top of my head so by Christmas. . . I should look like Pepe le Pew) But long story short, gutters are clean.
Does anyone know how you keep a 82 year old man down. Anything short of using duct tape or being arrested for elder abuse. Orange is NOT the new PINK.
