The surgeon had me taking CoQ10 (and fish oil, iron, etc) when I got out of the hospital. Most of it is affordable enough. But, the CoQ10 was $40. Is the cheaper stuff just as good?
I've allowed myself to run out thinking it was just too expensive. But, now I'm having second thoughts. After all, I just had OHS. Maybe I should just go ahead and do what the doctor says.
The only thing before this that I didn't get that the doctor said to get was an inhaler for $200. $200!!! That's insane! Although, it was some special kind that might have helped me avoid all the issues I had with my breathing during the last month. Or, not. Who knows?
Since I've stupidly allowed myself to run out, I guess I should see what I can find locally for now and save the mail order stuff for later. I wonder if Sam's Club has it at a good price. I think my daughter has a membership there. Will talk to her tonight.
I think that if a traditionally trained medical doctor tells you to take something that is not a traditional pharmaceutical, he has an open mind, common sense, and willing to see the good that 'alternative' medicine can do. I also think that, since Obamacare, doctors know that the patients are more responsible for the cost of medications, so they give you/us a lower cost alternative in the process.
My dad's ONE cholesterol med used to cost him more than $80/mth. He has replaced that and other prescriptions with supplements and he now pays less than $80 every 3 months. He is more brave than I am, I have never replaced a presciption med, only OTC meds.
