I made decaf in our drip coffee maker and you couldn't tell the difference. Decaf shouldn't mean weak coffee. If you want to cut out the caffeine though it's not a good idea to go cold turkey. A lot of people get awful headaches. You gotta just start substituting some of the regular with decaf and work your way to it. When we cut back I'd get a 2 lb can of regular and a 2 lb can of decaf and mix them. Now we just drink decaf. I read somewhere that the darker the roast the less caffeine it has in it. I have no idea if that's true though. I tend to like dark roasts better anyway.
I'm not concerned about caffine, although too much does make me jittery & nauseous. I just like the flavor better.

I am trying to determine at what time to quit drinking coffee. I realized that my headaches are caffeine withdrawal. However, if I drink coffee until three in the afternoon, I have to use benadryl to get to sleep at night. And that eventually quits working if used regularly. Quitting at noon brings on the headaches. So today I quit at two.

That sounds reasonable, and experimenting with your body's dictates is the only way to find out which is best.

Try quitting a little earlier everyday. Maybe cut another 15 minutes every three days. Your body might not notice that small, gradual decrease. I drink 3-4 cups in the morning & am done with coffee by 10am. It just doesn't appeal to me after that. I used to have a cup around 3pm when I was still working, but not since I retired. Sorry you are having problems with it.

Personally, I am still wishing for the Brain Trust to devise the "Caffeine E-Liquid", with various concentrations made available to the Public At Large .. until then, I continue to tote, each morning, my 44 OZ insulated portable beverage receptacle (IPBR) .. and have, for many, many years .. I once dropped it and broke the handle and immediately had to hunt a new one down ..

The Kroger used to offer a coffee that was "half caf" .. don't know as it's still available .. however, I will say, much like toilet paper, the coffee container size seems to be shrinking, in the Coffee Cartel's effort to make you think you're still getting the old size and price ..

And, while I'm at it, why can't they invent a coffee can that your scoop can easily get to those last remaining bits when you get down to the last of the can .. ?? In my continued efforts at frugality, I resort to upending the can over a plate, beating the side in order to out the remains and then diverting them by hand to the coffee filter .. after all, it's supposed to be "Good Till The Last Grain" .. er, drop ..

I will end it by saying "I hate touching ground coffee" .. it just feels weird .. ;)

I bet you didn't notice the same with ice cream. One fine day, a couple of years ago, with no collusion at all, they all started marketing ice cream in the five quart size. Looks almost exactly the same, and they all did it at once. A remarkable coincidence.

I feel the same way, & do the same thing. Only I keep the filter I'm filling on the counter & dump into it, then put it in the brew basket. And yeah, coffee grounds feel gross.

I don't buy much ice cream at the Grocer, but when I do .. yes, I did notice it, when I picked up a carton it just felt smaller .. although they did do their best attempt at "eye trickery" .. ;)

And on another same note... interesting story on folks overdosing on caffeine powder. And I never even heard of caffeine powder.

Yes, I saw this on the Evening News a while back .. "Let's do a line of caffeine or two" .. "Wanna Bump .. ?" .. ;)

Coffee being the Original Energy Drink .. I'm not even going to riff off Energy Drinks in General, other to say, is there anything off the shelf that is worse for you than these things .. ??

Yikes!!! A mummy!

And now it's resting quietly after it's long journey...

I sure hope you like it. Doree soaked the "balls" in water and it did seem to rejuvenate the jute. Might try misting it with a little water everyday like a fern and hopefully that will reverse the aging a bit. :thumb:

My sentiments on energy drinks in a nutshell. I almost had my SIL convinced that the #3 ingredient in Red Bull, taurine, was bull urine. Her husband enlightened her.
