I like that. Evidently I have the same color of eyes as Ken. Greenish on the outside, brown on the inside. My monitor doesn't capture that color, though. Wish I had a camera that could do that.
My eye color changes by mood/stress
The happier I am, the les stressed and the more green.
Because my back complains about the work I did yesterday every time I move, I'm a lot stressed, thus lots of brown.
When I'm really angry, the brown gets almost black.
I used my iPad... Brought my right eye up really close, and when I could focus on the reflection of it in the little window, I pushed the pic button
Here is what I did yesterday... From a pile up to my neck in height...

To those of you who regarded a member's post this morning as an opportunity to mock religions other than your own, let me remind you that ISIS counts on you being a religious bigot and you're behaving exactly as they knew you would. After all, they don't like Muslims either.

Merry Christmas, narrow-minded hypocrites!

Didn't notice any (or much) mocking, Bells. More along the lines of "we've been accommodating their preferences for some time, why won't they accommodate ours?" It really should be a two-way street.

(As regards to celebratory occasions, of course. Dietary restrictions are another thing, whether religious or health. I've known some who reacted to just the smell of peanuts!)

Settle down my friend. Not knocking the religion in any way. Nobody here was as far as I know. Knocking the family members who are so inflexible that the rest of the family has to bow to their religious preference. A nice rotation of Christmas dinner and a little mutual religious tolerance might help the whole situation. My nephew in law is a Muslim and has no problem coming to Christmas dinner at our houses as we don't have a problem with him in any way shape or form. I have a nephew who is Hindu as well and he is cool as hell. Name is Deraj Kumar Mohan. The NIL is Erhan Simavi and his family is high in the Turkish business world (rich in other words).

So you noticed the mocking that consisted of bringing food items which most Muslims would not consume. That's the mocking to which I refer. Let's remember that the original poster is not being kidnapped and forced to be in a location where Christmas is not observed, and let's also remember that it is the sister of the original poster who was being complained about. In my opinion it really is a family matter more than anything else. I guess no one else ever has had issues with a family member during the holidays or any other time.

Exactly. And, as we know, two other members have reasons for being angry. It takes a while to work through that anger, and realizing that people on the other side of the fence have been hurt, too, helps a lot. My issue is not with Muslims, but there are a lot of parallels.

You ought to know by now that I don't settle down on command. I don't need your excuses for your mockery of the religion of Classy's sister. You forget that Classy has free will and is not compelled to attend. You act like she's being kidnapped and presume that the in-laws have turned down reciprocal invitations. I don't know what the details are, do you?

Actually... yeah they are being essentially kidnapped. It's family. Traditionally Christian who celebrated the holiday the same way for generations. As far as the food... I took it as a tongue in cheek joke. I'm sure that was the way it was intended.

narrow-minded hypocrites!

Up until this part of your post I could have simply said ok Bells is being Bells and voicing a simple opinion. There is however no reason to engage in name calling. This is a perfect example why people leave porches.

If people have to leave because they can't deal with my opinion, that's a shame, but I'm going to call out narrow-minded hypocrisy when it intrudes on my sense of decency. I put up with a lot of narrow-mindedness without commenting on it until a sufficient amount has accumulated to warrant a strong pushback.

Pointing out that they are intruding on your sense of decency is one thing. Name calling is something else entirely. You have the ability to write well is it so much to ask you for the decency to state your position without name calling?

Eye as Mood Ring .. I have learned something new .. ;) .. and don't feel bad, I just finished up Round 2 on Winter Yard Cleanup .. I have about the same degree of debris as you, although it is different debris .. those high winds we've been having lately are helping rid my trees of Dead Branches .. :) .. which I am now going to Copy Write as a Band Name .. "The Dead Branches" ..

And to the Porch at Large, I have made my stance on bigotry of any sort quite clear, many times ..

I really don't regard those words as name-calling. So yes, it's too much for you to ask me not to use those words when I feel they're appropriate.

Very well since you are insistent on crossing my line of decency welcome to ignore.

Are gifts....lights....music......and other things really what Christmas is all about? Speaking just for myself....they are traditions that we may hold dear, but they are just trappings.....behind which the true message and meaning of this day have been lost.

I don't know all the family dynamics of the original poster, but.....looking from the outside.....a gathering of loved ones on that day is at least a small acknowledgment that it is a special day for those who are of the Christian faith.....;)
