Russ do you have help for yourself and your wife? It occurs to me that given the circumstances your doctor might be able to write it so that Home assistance care is covered by insurance. If that is not possible I would get ahold of local church groups or ever fraternity/sorority folks who might be willing to come in once a day or so as a service project.

On a side note .. I read somewhere that most pills are good for several years after the EXP Date if stored properly, they just may lose some potency .. I don't know if that's true or not ..

I have heard the same thing and have used pills that were over a year old with no diverse side effects that I noticed. Humidity is there #1 enemy...

Which reminds me-- is wifie doing better now? Or is she enjoying being taken care of? This whole thing may revitalize your marriage.
Ohh she is enjoying being taken care of. I am not sure if my first name is Beck or Call.
Rejuvenate? She will be impossibly spoiled as if she was not already.
She is doing pretty well, she goes back for xrays and possible some weight bearing on the leg on 1-13.
Often forgets to lock the wheels on her chair before she gets out to bed or the toilet...
Was messing with some craft stuff on the floor and did not lock wheels and did a face forward on the floor with chair on her back. Luckily no damage to chair.
But If someone had not been here she would have been there till someone got back. Even before injury she had trouble getting up from floor.

I am just thankful for socialist FMLA.

Humidity, light and high temps.

The same things that cause me to age faster.
Why FL is so full of old looking people?

Willie, that's so unfair! No good deed goes unpunished? At least you enjoyed yourself for the day. Did you drive yourself to the ER? Are you still having pain?

Yes, medications do last past their expiration date except for one of the antibiotic families - cyclines I think? The binder in the pills break down before the actual medication does so wrapping them very well to keep moisture out before putting them in the freezer is a good idea.

I'm so happy that it wasn't another heart attack, but you need to make sure you get to see your doc on Monday to figure out what's going on. Maybe you just need to lay off the Christmas cookies!

@Uncle Willie - WHAT?! You mean there are 2 kinds of nurses?! HUH?! I mean sure I've heard of the ones in the hospital... but who goes to a hospital? There ain't nothin' a roll of duct tape, a bunch of shop towels, and a blow torch can't fix man!
I am reminded of a Stephen King story....

Nobody said it wouldn't hurt like hell, but generally speaking - you take your shop towels and a wrench and some duct tape - BAM! You got a splint. Bleeding profusely? Take your shop towels, grab a wrench and some duct tape, BAM! You got a tourniquet. Accidently cut your arm off in your shop and the tourniquet can't stop the bleeding? Grab your shop towels, your duct tape, and a blow torch, and cauterize the wound! BAM! Stopped the bleeding - don't forget to cover the injury with the towels and tape it down. Granted, the doctors may be a bit ...... off afterwards, but what the hell? You might have saved your own life.

Plus... better you still be alive than dead when you DO make it to the hospital.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME! ONLY RESORT TO THESE MEASURES IF NOTHING ELSE SEEMS TO WORK! IE - YOU LIVE IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE - AND THE ONLY HOPE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE IS AN AIR LIFT!
