I also fix a pretty good eggplant parmesan. I have never been able to make a good sauce so I use a bottled sauce, usually, any kind other than Ragu.
Remind me tomorrow and I will PM you a no-fail recipe that my mom taught me. Tastes great. Pretty sure you'll like it.

I did my deed for the day. even on a holiday. The original of this had jar-jar-binks in the third slot. I don't think people really know what the truth is...

Hope you don't mind if I borrow that. Want to put it on my Facebook page.

He has been too busy preparing to move. And as we all know, that hasn't finished yet.
And if it wasn't for the knees I would be long done by now. Sensitive subject. I am really embarrassed that it has taken this long.

I was introduced to cajun food when my wife was stationed in Orange, TX. We lived there for 3 years and I fell in love with the people and the food. She often told a tale of her sharing of the food while stationed in New Orleans when she first joined the Naval Reserves. She was an instructor and was trying to convince a new class to have a crawfish boil at the end of class. She said there were a lot of the people in the class that were hesitant to eat crawfish. So here she is in front of a whole class and she tells them that she really likes crawfish, "however, even after eating them for over 3 years, the one thing she could never do was suck head." The classroom went totally silent, then a snicker sounded in the rear. She had to leave the classroom and let the other instructor carry on and explain that with crawfish a lot of the seasoning collects in the head of the crawfish and in order to get the best of the seasoning you have to, "suck the seasoning out of the crawfish head".

Thank you, I have saved the recipe and will have to give it a try some day.

I've eaten crawfish for years, and I STILL don't suck the heads. The crawfish is enough

Tofu is rather neutral, can be blended with most anything. I might try blending it with sugar and spices for an apple pie sauce.

I didn't think you could get them in Pennsylvania. Now when you visit Colorado.....

Yes there are a few foods that people say they don't like or don't like the taste when many of them have very little if any taste and are just a vehicle for other flavours.

yeah, if they take the time to mash the water out of it and dry it somewhat then fry it I can kinda deal with it ok, but for me it's a texture thing. Still wouldn't order it, but if I was eating something with it in there and it was done like that I could eat it

Regular button mushrooms. I call them "null ops" because they generally taste like whatever your putting them in. They do bring flavor to the party but, it's subtle. Mostly add bulk and mouth feel. I use em a lot though and like them with onions on or with a good grilled steak.

Please, don't be embarrassed! That has been a huge undertaking and you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. You've done a great job and I'm proud of you!!!! {{{Hugs & Prayers}}} for a speedy recovery!

Have you figured out a way to propagate that Japanese Maple?

It can be done. PM me your address and I'll send you a couple of cuttings. A little research (Google is your friend) should set you up. I'll stop by the local nursery and get a couple of those little bottles they put the stems in to keep them alive during shipping. It would be best if I could wait till it goes dormant this fall but if it comes between moving and waiting on the maple to go dormant guess which one is going to win?
