Good morning everyone. Knees and Dog kept me awake last night so I'm checking in early. Here's an article I just read in USA Today that was rather interesting. It has the "M" word in the title so I'll try and edit it out. It's about kids and vaping. Always a good idea to stay on top of what's going on in our world of vaping...

Looks like the rain is coming..

It's amazing how I can just sit here on the back porch and watch the clouds just boil up until it starts to thunder and lightning. Then it'll pour like out of a bucket for about 20 minutes then gone. Supposed to do that off and on all day.
BOOM!!

Take a look at the weather system sitting on Wisconsin today. It covers almost the whole state.

Here is a link to the spaghetti sauce recipe. It's a PDF that you can save and print out. Hope you all like it. It's one of my favorites.
EASY SPAGETTI SAUCE(1).pdf - Google Drive

If you think it makes too much remember I was raised in a family with six kids and we never (that I can remember) had dinner with less than 12. Mom would double this recipe. It freezes really well. We use Tupperware type containers but, also works in good zip lock bags for freezing.

Yeah, Matt. I used to make it by the vat. :) In a pot you can almost climb into. Does freeze well. (Might want to throw in some parmesan or romano cheez)
But it's also a good starter for chili. Just no garlic or oregano. Chili powder and crushed red pepper instead. And don't forget to rinse the kidney beenz! Odd taste if ya don't. I wouldn't use mushrooms here either, (not a shroom guy) but the green peppers "might" work. Also freezes well.
And yes, there'z 4729.7 ways to make chili. This is just my way. :D

Remember the great Chili Arguments of 2013 in this thread? (meat vs meatless, beans vs no beans, ad infinitum).

Regular button mushrooms. I call them "null ops" because they generally taste like whatever your putting them in. They do bring flavor to the party but, it's subtle. Mostly add bulk and mouth feel. I use em a lot though and like them with onions on or with a good grilled steak.

Mushrooms actually take a lot more cooking than most people realise. Then they do shrink quite a lot.

Brown rice, ground pork, baby carrots, sweet barbecue sauce, tamarind paste, crushed red pepper, thyme, oregano and water. Yum with a kick. First big bowl downed before picture, second big bowl reaching completion.
And you didn't used to cook much? What a waste of talent! Are you preparing for a second career?

As I never tire of saying, (and people keep presenting me with opportunities to say it): if I wanted to work I wouldn't have retired.

My little brother thinks I should get a law degree, an old girlfriend thinks I should get a music degree, and my neighbor thinks there's some usefulness in telling me about good-paying temporary job opportunities.

Thanks for the compliment, but no, you're not likely to find me gainfully employed ever again. The quickest way for me to stop enjoying cooking would be for me to try to make it a vocation, or even a "serious" hobby.

I'm fair to middlin' at a bunch of things, pretty good at quite a few things, but the only thing where I'm tops in the field is in my natural ability to be me. I didn't plan to be a shiftless jack-of-all-trades, master of none, but that's the way I turned out.

When I was a kid, I absolutely craved Saturdays. I yearned for them with almost mystical reverence. Not until I retired did every day become Saturday. Carpe diem!
