Good morning Good Folks!

Long time no see...

Real Life has kept me Real Busy lately... plus Fall is my favorite and most active time of year - I LUV it!

Went back a few pages just to get into the swing of things, and saw where someone brought box-o-wine. We keep a box in the spare fridge. Wish I'd gotten here yesterday evening to have a glass with y'all - I see it loosened the ladies up a bit... hehehe... :w00t:

My name's not Dwight, my pants aren't painted on, and I can't sing or play the guitar worth a toot!....... but do y'all still luv me anyway?

Later taters...

Did you click on Outside to continue to the subforum? I didn't give the direct link to it wanting to leave the warning in place.

{{{{Kenna}}}} right back at'cha m'lady! I hope everyone has been well... gonna try to check in more often.

Meanwhile, I have a question for our many 'animal people' here...

My daughter wants a dog (and actually, I'm 'bout ready for one too). Our last Heinz 57 either ran off, or got swiped - which is my guess, he was a handsome lil' doggie. Oh well, ce la vie... he showed up here, stayed around a year or so, disappeared. But... we had joy, we had fun, we had seasons in the sun....

We have a shelter near here, so I suggested we go look... but No, she wants a German Shepard... a registered German Shepard at that... so now we're talkin' 8-1500 right? She's dead-set on it, and said she's gonna start saving up.

Most all the dogs I've had the pleasure of living with have been 'sooners', never paid a penny for a dog except for 'general maintenance' - shots, worm meds, and vet. bills when necessary... I've never seriously thought about paying hundreds for a dog! Don't even know where to start...

"Morning sleepyheads!

In case you're interested in the awesome moon tonight/tomorrow(early!) morning, set your alarms...or just stay up, you late-nightowls.... I'm gonna set my alarm clock so i don't miss it in case i fall asleep way too early!

I got a new toy yesterday, so today I'm gonna be blowing hard...the leaves on the steps, the driveway and the patio.... I feel so empowered!

Yeah I used to have German Shepherds and they were that price then 40 years ago, but they came from a kennel that a German lady had and the fathers and mothers were all champions. They are a really loyal breed and talk about smart, It was like when you trained them you showed them something to do and they looked at you like what do you think I'm stupid I'm a German Sheperd and it would sometimes take twice and they had it down. Very protective also but get one from a reputable breeder. They were so smart and one from a breeder who breeds for quality and temperment is worth the money but don't get a shy one.

I'd say find a really reputable breeder. GSD's are prone to hip problems. I don't know what else.

No useful help from me, even though I grew up with a German Shepherd. I've become a full believer in shelter/rescue dogs only. I'd be asking my daughter how she was going to afford both a new place to live and the dog too, but that's easy for me to say since I'm not the one who has to look at her pleading eyes.

I prefer judicious mixed breeds myself. Like Shepherd-Collie.

Your right and also ear infections. And get one that has the ears already up, they sometimes have problems with that and you don't want a lop eared dog.

Somewhere between realizing what a nice clear night it was last night and the door to go outside and see the moon, I got sidetracked. Hope it's as clear tonight and that I remember to take a looksee.

When you said you were going to be blowing hard, I thought for a second that you'd got you a trombone.

My best suggestion - reputable breeder? One that does all health clearances. Hips, elbows, eyes, heart, thyroid. If you can meet the mother, or any other dogs bred by this breedee, you will get a better idea of the temperament to expect. And how they raise the puppies - in a kennel? In the house? How do they socialize the puppies. All valuable info to know before purchase.

I can't stress enough health clearances preferably several generations back. You don't want to spend all that money on a dog that is going to have health issues in the future.

This goes for any breed, not just Shepherds.
