Sorry about the length of that post but I feel like it is a good learning tool for anyone who is still smoking, so feel free to let them read what can happen. And this is only the beginning of a long hard battle to stay alive even for just a short time..

This is Ginny's 3rd day after her 3 day Chemo bout. She has been tired all the time, and kind of crabby, she feels sick when she stands but hasn't thrown up once, probably because of our stomachs, she can't. Her mouth is really sensitive and food doesn't taste the same. She has to pee about every hour so that makes her mad she just gets comfortable and has to go again. Bones are aching, had to turn her O2 up to 2.5 litres because it was still getting below 90. Port is nearly healed up. Has to go in this week to have it flushed and lab drawn. Sickness pills seem to work and they gave her Ativan which she does like because the make her feel better, and get this, only gave her 10 because they are addictive. I thought what the hell she is dying from a terminal disease and they are worried about that. Gimme a break!! Doesn't have to worry about what time she takes her pain meds cause she just sets a timer with Alexa.

On another note we converted my daughter to vaping. gave her a Pico and full size Nautilus and shes been without cigs for 10 days and not having any problems even being around other smokers. She's using 12mg. Gave her 5 new AW button top batteries and links to where I get ready made juice and batteries and chargers. She will be back on the 7th before Ginny starts her next 3 day marathon.

I think I am going to do away with Dish and go with HULU with live tv. $40 a month plus $15 for HBO. About the same as I am paying for 10 channels on dish and have 50 channels of some of the best. I didn't like the way they do the schedule but with the Roku having a voice activated remote can just use a tv guide and tell it to find the show we want. Cloud DVR 50 hrs or $10 more for 200 hours.

My daughter is going to buy our Ford, I gave her a really good deal. Now for the motorhome and Honda. No need for them anymore. I hate selling to family but that's what I wanted was a quick sale. Going to pay off all CC's so it will leave us some breathing room.

We are hoping and praying this Chemo gives her more time. He said if he could possibly get it into remission she could have 1 year and possibly 2 on the outside. He was careful to tell us there is no cure for this type of Cancer. It is the type caused directly by smoking. She is a trooper.

Thank You guys for all the support and well wishers. This is her 3rd day off of the Chemo and they haven't been great at all for her. I'm trying to keep her comfortable. The nurse comes tomorrow to start the Palliative Care which I think will be very helpful for both of us.. I'm glad I stuck to the supplement I did which was not cheap $202 a month each but covers everything Medicare doesn't, so everything is covered 100%. Talked to BIL and he said the bills for his wife who died from Cancer was over $250K, but Medicare and his supplement covered all but $6K but not as good as the one I got. She started with Breast and wouldn't let them remove them and it metastasized to the brain. Another BIL whose wife he lost to intestinal, had no insurance, got really mad at the doctors because in his words they killed her because they wouldn't treat her anymore. He blames everything on them and want Ginny to go on something called the Potion a mixture of vinegar, honey, garlic and a couple other things and thinks it is a magic cure, but the ##### doctors are now coming after her estate for bills. He is very bitter. It wasn't that he couldn't afford insurance but like one of the other Family members said he was too cheap to get it. They were young and didn't need it. Couldn't qualify for any help, they lived in about a $400K house and he is the head of his own construction company which I am sure he makes upward of $150K a year. Another SIL who beat Stage 4 breast Cancer has been helping with advice. Hers has showed back up in her upper back and they are fighting it with a hormone treatment which actually seems to be working.

We have so much to learn about for me how to care for her properly. Lots of stuff of handling a Chemo patient. I am going to have to learn how to cook some of the foods they recommend because of the sensitivity of her mouth and the need to get protein in. I don't want her to get any infections which is hard to avoid with this since it puts her immune system in the toilet. And one other thing that has plagued her, constipation for 6 days, finally yesterday problem solved.

Smoking SUCKS and what is the gov't worried about, Opioids. Insanity

Pat

I wonder if the day will ever come when people get rid of the stupid fear of a terminal patient getting addicted to anything. How long do the 10 ativan last her? Does that mean you have to drive to a pharmacy each time it needs refilling?

One day at a time Pat. You're doing great and I'm sure Ginny appreciates your efforts. You're going to have to be flexible because things can change from day to day. Just go with the flow and try to relax with Ginny and enjoy the time you have together.

I'm sorry she's feeling the side effects, Legs, this isn't easy on either of you. She seems to be handling it all fairly well, tho. Prayers continue!

Well thanks guys and gals. I was just asking Jerry if it was weird when she is feeling good like she does at times, like all morning, to not even think about this damned disease and things feel almost normal, except I am the cook now and I do need to help her with things. But she is really doing pretty good, no complaints to speak of, just the things I said. She is looking forward to this week being over, they said it would be the worst. She is so tired of ...... all the time but I looked it up and everyone said the same thing. One of our Grandaughters sent her a pillow that looks just like a big shrimp, wraps around your neck. She got a kick out of that. I couldn't believe it, it was the second time in as many weeks that Amazon got it delivered on Sunday.

I've got a couple things to do yet to make it more comfy. Have a memory foam pad coming from Costco for the hospital bed which will make a big diff. And have to get another extension so I can get the subwoofer out from under that bed also.

Hey these Dots are better then sliced bread. I can tell Alexa to add something to my Costco list or my Walmart list and she does it and it is on my cell also, so I can just check it off once I have it in the cart. Really saves a lot of time plus you don't forget. Gonna put the last one in the bathroom so if she needs help in there Alexa can call me or 911 or just an intercom. Or if she is in the bath she can play relaxing music, amazing the technology. I am just discovering all the possibilities with them. Johnny told me about this one if my daughter gets one we can link them up and I can just say "Alexa drop in on Kerrie" She will connect without a phone and we can just talk 300 miles away or Alyssa 1800 miles away. Mind boggling.

Oh and the Ativan I think they will give her more if she asks but between those and the sickness pills which she can start using both now, they don't want you to use one for 72hrs after chemo cause they put a big dose in the chemo each day, but they really help alot.

ow all we have to wait for removalist to pick up their packing cartons..
I love that name for a moving company... never heard it before... removalist... huh, pretty good!
Well I thought I would give you guys an update. Ginny has been through 2 days of Chemo and so far she is handling it like a trooper. She hasn't felt bad at all. She has such a positive attitude. She says she has enough people praying for her and she has faith. She is taking this a lot better then me. She is even making dinner tonight. I think the worst thing so far is letting me do the driving which is understandable because I have problems getting my feet on the right pedal. She could drive but i'm trying to get used to it. We have the house pretty well straightened out. The bed is up but we still have to move some stuff. We have always sat closer to each other and shared a table between us and that's what is going to have to happen again. So another furniture move. We need to share a table. Sometimes she wants the remote sometimes I do and this isn't working out. My daughter moved it while we were at Chemo and we knew which way it was going but we don't like it now. so she is going to move it again tomorrow. She has no need for the bed down here right now. It's weird it's like she has more energy on the Chemo but her lung hurts where the mass is. They said it was probably the medicine working on that spot.

Nice to hear this is getting started in a positive way. Hey, get another remote.
Everybody beat me to the extra remote idea. I have one at my computer desk, one on the arm of the couch in the living room, and one in the bedroom, where I have a second TV.

Kerrie my daughter has been so much help. She has only had 2 cigs the day she got here and I set her up with a Pico and a Nautilus and she has just been using that for a week.
Yay!

While a tad more, imo this would be a better choice from what BB has on site atm:

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/samsun...ard-drive-solid-black/5712021.p?skuId=5712021

Faster processor, bigger HD, better graphics. Same size touch screen. Yes, nearly $100 more, but the extra horsepower may be worth it. Future-proofing :)

And the Lenovo has no web cam, if that's a concern :)

We scratched the i3 HP from consideration. Thanks for pointing that out though.
I don't whether the Lenovo has changed price, but it's $40 cheaper than the HP now.

I absolutely despise the touch pads on laptop computers but I've learned to deal with them... sort of.

About 4-5 weeks. She had quit for over a year then stuff started happening in the Family and she started again on our last trip over end of last summer. I nagged her everyday but she would just get mad at me. She finally said she would stop when the were gone so I started helping get rid of the stockpile. Damn she had more then I though and I was up to about 10 a day also when she finally ran out about 10 days after U started helping her. But this had to have been brewing for a while before last summer. She had some hints but hid it. She said she never thought it was something like this cause she smoked Ultra Lights. She hadn't smoked in the house for years. But even now she says she loved smoking.

I called an aunt of mine a couple of weeks ago. We only talked for, seriously, 4 hours, making up for the 3+ years since we last spoke. Aunt Jean is 89 years old and smokes. She says she doesn't inhale. Who am I to doubt her? I've never heard her cough, whereas, when I was still smoking, I couldn't talk for even 60 seconds without going into a coughing fit. Being able to be fairly long-winded again was one of the biggest benefits for me of quitting smoking.

I was able to go through settings and disable the touchpad on my laptop. My palm would touch it and cause weird things to happen.

Likewise, so I use a wireless mouse with the touch pad off.

I think I can do the same with mine, but after an update or something it reverted back to its obnoxious behavior. Yep, the cursor jumps all over creation when I inadvertently touch the pad.... :9!$# pain in the .... is what it is. :w00t:

I am spoiled with my wireless mouse. Just have to make sure the battery is fresh. Since it is an optical mouse, I don't have to clean the, oops! Don't want to offend the moderators with that.
WOW! There is a severe thunderstorm moving through the area. Gods tater wagon is really spilling the taters. I am getting signal loss so have the antenna set up on the big tv. High wind loads of rain and power outages in the area. Now they are also saying flooding is possible.

Apple has a useful setting: You can have both the mouse and pad active or change the setting and If a mouse is detected the pad is disabled.

Most Windows laptops have the ability to turn off the touch pad if a mouse is hooked up. What I'm having trouble with is the zillions of touch pad settings... I evidently haven't turned enough of the settings off yet. I love my laptop (Dell, with 16 MB of RAM, i7 processor). It's the fastest computer I have, noticeably faster than my desktop.

But, I hate the touch pad. Don't worry, I'll figure out how to turn off the touch pad options that I don't want. I mean, it's got 2 finger gestures, 3 finger gestures and 4 finger gestures. Sometimes I'm inclined to give it a 1 finger gesture.
