Thank you for all the Birthday wishes. Had a nice day hanging with Huxley. I'll sleep better this winter now that the 20 year old heating system has been replaced. Sheesh, this guys spent 11 hours replace the A/C & heater. The father/son team that did the work came from central PA to our area. That's only about a 2 hour drive from us but the son said it gets him every time when he comes to this area and folks call a furnace a heater. He said 'back home' if you called you furnace a heater no one would know what you're talking about.

I've never heard a furnace called a heater either. Regional terms I guess. Like in the south the midday meal is dinner and the evening meal is supper!

There is a big difference between a furnace and a heater. A furnace is powerful enough to warm an entire house, while a heater suffices for a room. One might be comfortable occasionally using a heater in Florida. However, in Wisconsin you need a furnace.

Good job. I got 24yrs out of a Lennox system. New ones are nice. Filters last the whole year. Get some Amish folks? They put a nice roof on my place.

    Happy b-day

All furnaces are heaters, but not all heaters are furnaces.

My house, like a great many others in the South, has central heating using a heat pump. All heat pumps are heaters, but no heat pumps are furnaces.

Boiler heating is another type of heater that is not a furnace.

That's always confused me, maybe because the midday meal for us has always been lunch. Dinner to me has always seemed to be more formal and supper is the family sitting around the kitchen table for a meal. But we're from eastern PA and even western PA has different names for things - like pop instead of soda and sack instead of bag for groceries.

For me, dinner is the main or heaviest meal; it may be noonish, afternoon or evening. Lunch is a meal at near noon when dinner isn't noonish, and supper is a meal when dinner is noonish or early afternoon.

Breakfast is always breakfast (when it isn't brunch; then you have to skip both breakfast and lunch and pretend you don't mind this horrible imposition).

I live in a "pop" and "bag" area - SE Michigan.

Well my morning is starting off good, I went to walk into the bathroom and lost my balance and fell and my .... landed in a box of bubble wrap. Funny but not. I really strained my other leg trying to get up. Hopefully it won't hurt too bad tomorrow.

At times like these, the lack of an "agreed! funny but not" rating icon is very noticeable.

Alexa's ears perked up when somebody on TV said the word "elections". Time for Alexa to see an audiologist.

I did an experiment with my own voice. First, I said "elections", but Alexa didn't bite. Then I gave the first syllable a schwa sound instead of a long e sound, and Alexa thought I called her.

A funny thing happened to me yesterday. I was at Rite Aid and in a Crip Spot. A guy came up and tapped on my window and said Hey how come you are parked in a Handicap Spot. When I saw you in the store I would have never known you had prosthetic legs you walk as good as me, Way to Go. Impressive. Then he started laughing and said you really get around good on those.

Aha that's probably what my Alexa is picking up on.

Here's another one where Alexa has too much wax in her ears. If Alexa is more than a few feet away, and there's background noise (like the TV) and I say "Alexa, ESPN 2", she just might say "getting Deadpool 2 on Dish". It's happened twice.

Yep that's the truth. Down the road from us it was either and Amish crew or a Mennonite crew put up a small garage for the homeowners antique car. What a great job they did. In a town not too far from us there's an 'outlet' for pre-built outbuilding/sheds built by the Amish. Pretty affordable for some nice quality good looking sheds/small barns/etc ... much nice than the pre-fabs available at the box stores.

A couple of pictures from yesterday's birthday day. Hux just couldn't get enough of my birthday cake. A Nuztorte that Janet made for me. It's made from ground up walnuts, 10 eggs, a bit of flour and sugar and, oh yes, home made whipped cream. Hux kept sliding across the table and getting a bit more with his fingers. He must had done it over 1/2 dox times before his Momma said that's enough (as he had his own slice before he started going back for more).

Here, too. They do good work. A Mennonite helped me move. My desk was already broken, and he took it to an Amish carpenter he knew, and it was fixed up, resolving some of the original design flaws.

That is the problem with artificial hearing. Background noise is a pain.
