But WE are brushed off as "anecdotal"...smh...

Agree with that too!

And I'll tell ya something else that gets my goat:

The day the Surgeon Generals' report came out, I saw Dr. John Lapook (sp?) on CBS Evening News 'reporting' on it, and he said "and since nicotine is so highly addictive" yada yada yada - and ALL the 'experts' say the same thing.

BULL CRAP!!! Then tell me how it is that I have easily (gradually) reduced the nicotine in my DIY eliquid from 24mg/ml to 3.3?!!! I make my base @ 10mg/ml, then cut it by 2/3s...

My wife and I have been at this level now for over year - and we both can easily go hours or even most of a day without vaping if the situation calls for it. Try THAT if you're still hooked on 1-2 PAD. IMO, nicotine by itself is no more addictive than those 3 cups of coffee I have most mornings.

Right!

And if all the 'experts' and govern-ators and regulators (and the blasted media) would only be honest with the public, they'd admit that they know that too.

What a load. Just make it illegal for people under 25. Seems to me they are only using the bad reviews and not even looking at the help that it gives people. I never see any kids vaping any way. I am seeing more and more older people though.
I don't agree with 25. They can vote, & enlist, and many other things at 18. Either they are old enough to make decisions at that age or they aren't.

Your right Kenna but that's all this report is about is people below 25. It's like no one else is important. I realize what your saying cause I joined the Army at 17 and I could buy booze on base and C rations came with a little pack of 4 cigarettes in them, never knew what brand til you opened the box and hoped you got beans and weinees, pound cake and Marlboros.

Hi gang!

Ironically, I just watched Jenna Lee interview Dr. Tiffany Sizemore on FOX News a few hours ago. They spent about 5 minutes "following up" on the "highly addictive nature" of nicotine, the "possible" gateway to cigs, the brain development damage to adolescents, ad infinitum. So much for "Fair & Balanced", FOX!!! My only hope is that it is FOX's way of opening the door to a REAL fair & balanced discussion on the subject. (I've been pounding them for a while to do just that: newsmanager@foxnews.com ) Perhaps if a bunch of us contacted them and suggested one of the pro vaping doctors from A Billion Lives, someone intimately familiar with the RCP report (knowing full well that the RCP report DOES recommend regulations and further studies along with some not so positive aspects of nicotine itself) we could finally get through to at least one media outlet. What has me concerned is that we are already behind in the court of public opinion and it's only getting worse.

I was going to email them again in just a few minutes but will wait to see if we can come to a consensus on who the best spokesperson might be? Any thoughts???

&:$:$(&& v,>}%{*]' tele-callers!!!!!
Not ONE SINGLE CALL... Until I'm in a meeting.
Then NOT ONE SINGLE CALL... Until I try to take a nap for lunch. SEVEN , yes SEVEN &$@~£|^#%{ calls during the lunch hour!

Ain't that frustrating! Here, mebbe this'll help ease your pain:

Check out some of the other youtube vids of Tom Mabe, he's hilarious -especially if you hate telemarketing calls (and who doesn't?).

I've heard that one before, and have considered it... Unfortunately, it's usually someone trying to get donations rather than selling me something. Except for the ones who call for my mortgage, or to get me to try their security device.
I just get so frustrated after 2 ours of night-sleep and they leave me alone until I'm trying to nap!!

We unplugged our land line. I check the voice messages about every 4-6 weeks. There's usually a couple dozen junk messages left and over 100 calls that didn't leave a message. We're exclusively mobile phone users now. Only have the land-line to get a better deal on internet and tv. But even the mobile isn't immune to junk calls but it's usually less than 1/2 doz a month and if I don't recognize the number I don't answer. Seems junk phone callers don't even bother leaving messages so that's a help.

That inspector didn't bother going under the house, but he got paid anyway! Geez, I can see a book in your future - The joys of home ownership. This would be chapter 4 or 5?

Inspector was under house. He did have in the report "some leaking noted", but because water had just been turned on that day the extent of the leaks wasn't obvious. It wasn't until after enough usage to saturate the insulation that the true condition was revealed.

Chapter 4 for the plumbing. We are really hoping this is the last of the unexpected big issues. I want to get the drywall repairs, and some painting done so we can get moving.

Revolutionary Road, 2008, with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet, is a REALLY good movie. I just watched it for the second time because the first time I only half-watched it.

DiCaprio's acting is extraordinary, which is something I'd never given him credit for before this movie. Maybe I'll have to watch Titanic one of these days.

Other movies among the 30 or so that I've watched in the past month, and that I recommend (but not as highly as I recommend Revolutionary Road):
The Birdcage
40 Days and 40 Nights, 2002. Don't confuse this movie with the similarly named 40 Days and Nights, from 2012, which I haven't seen but don't need to, considering the reviews.
The Siege, 1998, Denzel Washington
Heck I Don't Remember The Half a Dozen or So Others That Were Pretty Good, Saturday Dec 10 2016, Bigbells.

And a couple that I'd seen before but were still enjoyable:
The Jackal, 1997, Bruce Willis, Sidney Poitier, Richard Gere. For those who occasionally enjoy some violence and gore.
Silence of the Lambs, more violence and gore.

Another good one Dave, but I really like the P3P flight on 11/24 to the quarry.

I''l try to make this short as possible...

I met a farmer at a Sat. night get-together several months ago. After we both found out each other's love of flying, we spent most of the night talking and sippin' - and I even helped him smoke one of his expensive cigars. He told me he owned a 1946 Piper PA-12 and he'd take me up sometime... also said his computer needed work, so I gladly gave him a business card.

He called me last Friday morning and I went to his place that afternoon. After the computer work, we walked out back to a nondescript metal building, and inside was the most gorgeous old airplane I'd seen outside of an airshow... 70 years old but in immaculate condition -inside and out! He said it had won 'Best of Show' awards several times over the years. He also has a 2500 ft. grass strip through the middle of a huge field out back... push the plane out of the hanger, pivot it 90 degrees to the right, pre-flight check, fire it up, mag check, firewall the throttle, take off! He wanted to take me up, and I wanted to go, but didn't have time! It was a perfect day too - cool, calm, high cumulus clouds punctuating intense blue skies... sigh... We agreed to get back together soon - and I'll tell ya, today wouldn't be soon enough for me!

Between the time I met the farmer and the day I went to his place, I worked on a computer for a man at our local airport who is an Aircraft A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) mechanic. Turns out he's the mechanic for my new farmer friend - he did part of the restoration of the PA-12, and has done the Annual inspections and other work for years. He told me Mr. Farmer used to fly over his fields and take pictures with a 35mm camera, blow the pictures up and study the fields for problems---

BINGO! A perfect candidate to pitch for drone inspections of his fields!

Mr. Farmer and I talked about that and he seemed very interested. I told him I'd need to line up several farmers and enough work to make the investment worthwhile. That really piqued his interest. I can hardly wait to see where this goes...
That is so kewl on many levels! Hope your venture works out. And that would be wonderful if he could take the grand chilluns up!

Wait... the real news is that there's a word which you won't abbreviate.
lol I was waiting for someone to bring that up about the X. I still refuse. I'm keepin Christ in Christmas.

Direct? You can use either of the fast forward buttons, one is fast, the upper on steps by about 30 seconds. With either, pressing more than once goes either faster or longer (more 30 second steps). Or, if you don't care about missing what was paused (ALL of it!), just change channels and go back to the channel you want. Real time re-appears. :)
jup.......just sometimes I'll pause something for quite awhile, and don't like having to do the ff. Not a huge deal, but got used to dish and twc having a "live" button. Just mash it and yur caught up. Sometimes I remember bout changin the channel. Definitely not a big deal, but would change those two things iffn I could.

Good news at the Dr office, glucose, a1c, and insulin are much better and triglycerides are normal.

That's fantastic!!!!

Some pre-Christmas spirit:

This is the one I couldn't remember what I'd quoted on the coffee thread. Love this!!! Seems a bit odd to have LEOs doin the bell ringin, but at least he's doin it in style!

So dat kinda sux for the co pilot. He'z gotta run alongside. :(

lmao! Too cute. Love how they mimic'd the wrinkles in the Shar Pei.

My never smoker brother in law has taken up vaping...
He is using it instead of eating so much sweet stuff to knock some of his weight off - and it's helping him. ( No nic)
That's great. have heard a lotta stories like this........but of course, this will never be considered as a pro for vaping. That report was hideous......but unfortunately par for the course.

JUP On another thread someone said....... if nic is so addictive, the FDA should be sued for pushing the gum, patches etc!

pound cake
MRE pound cake is still not too bad!

Greg Gutfeld has at least done a number of comments about sounding off on the crap science. He's a vaper and has even vaped on air I believe. A cigalike, dunno if that's what he always uses, or all that he was permitted to use on air. I've tried contacting him, to urge him to do more, but haven't found a way on the Fox website to do that which won't just get ignored or give only an auto response.

lmao.........so not funny, just the way you typed it. That's also the only reason I "liked" the post. sorry they kept interrupting yur nap

This has been my experience too. I got soooooooo many junk calls on the house phone, but hardly any since we switched to cell only.

I'll have to check it out. Loved the birdcage and silence of the lambs. Look for the jackal each time I see it mentioned, but have never found it. Have something pulled up on YT on the tv right now and don't wanna lose it by switching, so hopefully remember  to look for it later.

As to leo...... if you haven't seen it, check out Catch Me If You Can. Great story and he was really good in it. Based on a true story.
